Method and apparatus for generating information associated with a lapsed presentation of media content
Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, for example, generating a summary of a missed portion of a media program, identifying subject matter in a segment of content in the media program that has not been presented, determining a particular time for presenting the summary according to the subject matter in the segment of content, and initiating a presentation of the summary at the particular time. Other embodiments are disclosed.
FILTERING SUPPLEMENTARY CONTENT USING COMPLETION RATE
Systems and methods record tracking events during a presentation of supplementary content items to determine whether viewer(s) stopped watching the supplementary content item or watched the supplementary content item in its entirety. This determination may provide value to content publishers or (multi video programming distributors (MVPDs)) through preventing such supplementary content items from showing, whether in certain contexts, to certain viewers, and/or to certain audience segments. In some instances, the systems and methods may utilize machine-learning model(s) to determine which combinations of supplementary content items, contextual signals, viewers, and/or audience segments are likely to abandonment a supplementary content item. Preventing these combinations from showing, improves viewer experiences, permits MVPDs to effectively utilize opportunities for presenting supplementary content to viewers, in order to maximize revenue yield paid by supplementary content providers (e.g., advertisers), and efficiently uses computing resources to present supplementary content items that viewers are unlikely to abandon.
Media asset distribution with prioritization
Media items for broadcast or streaming can be created or otherwise obtained by a media distribution system. The media items can be transferred from the media distribution system to a media delivery system over a communications network, in an order determined by the media distribution system. The media delivery system decides how important the media items being transferred are, based for example, on a broadcast schedule known to the media delivery system; assigns a temporal priority to the media items; and provides feedback to the media distribution system regarding the temporal priority. The media distribution system adjusts the order in which media items are transferred based on the temporal priority feedback from the media delivery system. The media distribution system can provide a list of upcoming media item transfers, to allow the media delivery system to provide feedback before the media items are transmitted.
Filtering
An alert generation method and system. The method includes receiving by a computer processor, alert data indicating filters for specified alert types associated with possible future events. The computer processor receives monitor definition data and media generated audio/video data; compares the alert data to the media generated audio/video data; determines a first alert type matches first audio/video data of the media generated audio/video data; and determines that the first audio/video data comprises a primary event. The computer processor broadcasts the primary event.
Method and system for setting video cover
The present invention provides a method and a system for setting a video cover. The method includes: receiving, by a codec service cluster, a cover creation request carrying cover parameters of a target video, and obtaining, by the codec service cluster, a video file of the target video, wherein the cover parameters at least include a video segment identifier, a video segment rewind demand, and a video segment playback speed; according to the cover parameters of the target video and the video file of the target video, generating, by the codec service cluster, a cover video file of the target video; and feeding back, by the codec service cluster, the cover video file of the target video to enable a feedback receiver to set the video cover for the target video based on the cover video file.
Systems and methods for value-based provision of television content in a hybrid quadrature amplitude modulation (QAM)/internet protocol (IP) content delivery environment
A device may receive content data identifying television schedules for content to be provided for viewing in a first geographic location and a second geographic location, and may identify a first available time slot for content in the first geographic location and a second available time slot for content in the second geographic location. The device may identify a first set of content for the first available time slot and a second set of content for the second available time slot, and may assign values to the first and second sets. The device may determine whether the values assigned to the first and second sets satisfy a threshold value, and may cause, when a value of content in the first set fails to satisfy the threshold value, a first client device, in the first geographic location, to obtain replacement content with a value that satisfies the threshold value.
Systems and methods for processing a traffic log having an optional-promotion log entry
Disclosed herein are systems and methods for processing a traffic log having an optional-promotion log entry. An example method involves (i) accessing a stored television-broadcasting traffic log, wherein the traffic log includes multiple ordered log entries including at least a first log-entry and a second log-entry; (ii) making a first determination that the first log-entry corresponds to a show-segment video-component (VC) of a live news program; (iii) making a second determination that the second log-entry corresponds to an initial show-segment VC of a show, wherein the show is scheduled to follow the live news program; (iv) identifying, among log entries scheduled between the first log-entry and the second log-entry, a set of optional-promotion log entries, each such optional-promotional log entry having a duration; (v) determining a cumulative duration of the optional-promotion log entries in the identified set; and (vi) providing the determined cumulative-duration to an output device for presentation.
Enhanced recognition of content audiences
Devices, systems, and methods are provided for audience recognition. A method may include receiving over-the-top (OTT) advertisement impression data comprising metadata and content of advertisement bid requests, the metadata indicative of scheduled OTT media presentation; receiving user activity data indicative of day-part times when viewers watch content absent from the OTT advertisement impression data; generating, based on the OTT advertisement impression data, a first demographic probability vector; generating, based on the user activity data, a second demographic probability vector; generating, based on a combination of the first demographic probability vector and the second demographic probability vector, a third demographic probability vector, each entry of the third demographic probability vector indicative of a third probability that a viewer is in a respective age range; and generating an indication of the third demographic probability vector.
Management and delivery of over-the-top services over different content-streaming systems
An event trigger management system, which handles management and delivery of services on a user device that streams media content from a distribution network, determines one or more media items present in media content of the distribution network. One or more interactive items are overlaid over the one or more media items in the media content and one or more event triggers are received from a client application engine, operational on the user device, based on selection of one or more interactive items. A personalized list is generated based on one or more received event triggers for selection of one or more overlaid interactive items and the generated personalized list is displayed or transmitted to distribution network(s) or application engines associated with the user device.
Multi-channel video playback system with variable time delay
There is provided a video playback system comprising a plurality of video playback channels, a memory, and a processor configured to transmit a first video content over a first playback channel, store a first video transmission being transmitted over the first video playback channel in the memory, start transmitting, at a second time, the first video transmission from the memory over a second playback channel, receive an update segment for replacing a first segment of the first video transmission and a location of the first segment in the first video transmission, detect the location of the first segment in the first video transmission, transmit the update segment in place of the first segment over the second video playback channel, revert to transmitting the first video transmission over the second video playback channel, and store a second video transmission being transmitted over the second video playback channel in the memory.
