SHOULDER ARTHROPLASTY IMPLANT SYSTEM

An implant for shoulder arthroplasty includes a stem and optionally a head component or a cup component. The stem is sized and shaped to fit into an intramedullary canal of the humerus. The proximal portion of the stem has a concave taper and the distal portion of the stem has a taper. The distal taper includes an anterior-posterior taper and a medial-lateral taper. The shape of the stem loads the metaphysis of the humerus with a greater load than the load applied to the diaphysis of the humerus.

ORTHOPAEDIC REAMER CONNECTOR

An orthopaedic reamer connector includes a holder section shaped to allow for connection of an orthopaedic reamer, the holder section including a connection surface and two pairs of holders associated with the connection surface, each of the two pairs of holders having a first holder and a second holder that forms an acute angle relative to the first holder, the first holders being opposed to each other by about 180 degrees and the second holders being opposed to each other by about 180 degrees; and a stop section mechanically interlocked with the holder section so as to prevent relative rotation therebetween and including a pair of stops associated with each of the two pairs of holders, each of the pair of stops having a first stop associated with the first holder and a second stop associated with the second holder.

BONE FRACTURE REPAIR APPARATUS AND METHODS

Apparatus and methods for delivery of an implant at a target site in an interior of a bone. The apparatus may include a plate. The plate may include a bottom surface complementing a surface contour of a bone. The plate may define first holes sized for receiving screws. The plate may define second holes sized for receiving fixation elements. The plate may define an opening. The opening may be sized for providing passage of the implant through the plate. When the bottom surface is seated complementarily against the surface contour, the first holes may point into an interior of the bone and into a volume occupied by the implant in the interior when the implant is positioned at a target site and radially expanded to form a mesh cage.

SURGICAL ORIENTATION SYSTEM AND METHOD

A system and method for detecting and measuring changes in angular position with respect to a reference plane is useful in surgical procedures for orienting various instruments, prosthesis, and implants with respect to anatomical landmarks. One embodiment of the device uses dual orientation devices of a type capable of measuring angular position changes from a reference position. One such device provides information as to changes in position of an anatomical landmark relative to a reference position. The second device provides information as to changes in position of a surgical instrument and/or prosthesis relative to the reference position.

Guide for positioning an orthopaedic guide pin on a bone structure

A guide for positioning an orthopaedic guide pin on a bone structure includes a base having an upper face, a lower face intended to bear against the bone structure, and a through-hole for the pin, said guide including several bearing members able to move in guide holes formed in the base, wherein each bearing member has a lower end facing the lower face and is able to be moved selectively between a retracted position inside the guide hole and at least one deployed position in which the bearing member protrudes from the lower face so as to have a salient lower end intended to bear against the bone structure in order to allow the base to be inclined.

Surgical retractor and resection guide

A surgical instrumentation system for a shoulder arthroplasty that includes a retractor that includes a curved section structured to wrap around and substantially engage a posterior portion of a humeral head, an alignment guide extending from the retractor. The alignment guide includes a primary alignment shaft and a resection guide attachable to the retractor, the resection guide including a guide surface for guiding a cutting tool.

An intramedullary nail implant for positioning in a bone having a head and a shaft defining an intramedullary canal. The implant includes a distal portion having a shaft extending along a central axis and configured for positioning within the intramedullary canal. A proximal portion extends proximally from the distal portion. The proximal portion defines a contact surface which extends at least in part medially of the central axis such that it is configured to extend within a medial portion of the bone head. A method of implanting the nail is also provided.

GLENOID ARTHROPLASTY

Arthroplasty components include an articular surface and a bone-facing surface. The bone-facing surface bears at least one anchoring element adapted for an oblique implantation trajectory. The articular surface may include a larger radius of curvature in the superior-inferior direction than in the anterior-posterior direction. An inferior chamfer may be present on the articular surface. Instruments and implantation methods are also disclosed.

System of preoperative planning and provision of patient-specific surgical aids

A method for assisting a user with surgical implementation of a preoperative plan includes generating a physical native tissue model of a native patient tissue. The physical native tissue model includes at least one primary patient tissue area including a surface of interest, at least one secondary patient tissue area including no surfaces of interest, and a base surface for engaging a supporting structure. The physical native tissue model, as generated, includes at least one information feature providing clinically useful information to the user. The information feature is substantially separated from the surface of interest. An apparatus for assisting a user with surgical implementation of a preoperative plan is also provided.
