FLEXIBLE DRIVE TUBE FOR LAPAROSCOPIC DEVICE
A colpotomy device for performing a hysterectomy is provided. The device includes a flexible drive tube having a proximal end and a distal end and bendable therebetween. The device also has a rotatable cutting implement at the distal end of the flexible drive tube at a specified offset from a bendable longitudinal axis of the flexible drive tube. Furthermore, the device includes couplings located within the flexible drive tube and rotatable about the bendable longitudinal axis of the flexible drive tube. The couplings can be in a series that includes inter-coupling joints and transmits a rotational force between the proximal and distal ends of the flexible drive tube through a variable angle between the couplings. The variable angle can correspond to bending of the drive tube in order to drive rotation of the cutting implement at the specified offset about the axis of the flexible drive tube.
ELECTRICAL CONNECTOR FOR COLPOTOMY DEVICE
A colpotomy device having a tissue treatment assembly for performing a hysterectomy is provided. The tissue treatment assembly comprises an elongated body defining a longitudinal axis and an end effector coupled to a distal portion of the elongated body. The end effector can be offset from and rotatable about the longitudinal axis. The tissue treatment assembly also has an axial first electrical contact coupled to the end effector, where the axial first electrical contact is affixed to and rotatable with the end effector. Moreover, the tissue treatment assembly includes a circumferential second electrical contact that can be arranged to contact the axial first electrical contact throughout a rotation of the end effector about the longitudinal axis.
SURGICAL DEVICE
An endoscopic surgical device for an endoscopic surgical procedure includes a slotted clear cannula with a tubular body having a distal end, a proximate end and a slot extending longitudinally therethrough. A pair of wings near the proximal end of the slotted clear cannula extend outward from the tubular body. The tubular body is made from a transparent material. The slotted clear cannula may be part of an endoscopic surgical blade assembly in which the cannula is attached to a housing enclosing a blade slidably oriented in the cannula. A kit comprising the endoscopic surgical device and a method for a performing a uniportal endoscopic surgical procedure using the endoscopic surgical device are also described.
PERCUTANEOUS INTRODUCER, PARTICULARLY FOR FLEXIBLE DRAINAGE TUBES AND WITH VARIOUS PROFILES
A percutaneous introducer, particularly for flexible drainage tubes and with various profiles, includes a main body, the main body having a longitudinally extended tubular element arranged in the distal portion of the main body. The tubular element has a terminal arranged at the distal end of the tubular element. The percutaneous introducer has a sliding body which includes a longitudinally extended obturator arranged in the distal portion of the sliding body, the obturator being inserted and being movable longitudinally within the tubular element of the main body. The obturator includes a cutting blade arranged and fixed at the distal end of the obturator. The percutaneous introducer includes a return and positioning spring adapted to return the cutting blade to a retracted position within its seat, following the controlled exit of the cutting blade through a passage slot arranged in the terminal of the tubular element.
Cord collection clamp
The present disclosure provides an apparatus, and methods of using same, for collecting blood from an umbilical cord in a sterile environment that includes an umbilical cord retaining assembly and a blood collection assembly rotatably connected to the umbilical cord retaining assembly. A cord cutting blade, which is carried by the blood collection assembly, functions to cut the umbilical cord when the blood collection assembly is rotated relative to the umbilical cord retaining assembly. After the umbilical cord is cut, blood flows by force of gravity into the blood collection region of the blood collection assembly to which a blood collection bag can be interconnected.
CLIP FOR EYE MUSCLE SURGERY
An extraocular muscle clip (22) for correcting strabismus includes upper and lower plates (24, 26) which are couplable together to sandwich and grasp extraocular muscle (42). A delivery tool (50) delivers the clip (22) and includes a shaft (52) and a muscle hook (56) that is slidable underneath the extraocular muscle (42) to position the lower plate (26) of the clip (22) underneath the muscle (42). An integrated blade (60) of the tool (50) cuts the extraocular muscle (42) subsequently to grasping of the muscle (42) by the upper and lower plates (24, 26) of the clip (22). One or more sutures (30) are coupled to the upper plate (24) and/or the lower plate (26) of the clip (22) and facilitate recoupling of the extraocular muscle (42) to a globe of the eye (40) following cutting of the extraocular muscle (42). Other embodiments are also described.
Knife Handle and Cover
A knife cover and handle assembly includes a cover having a housing with a retaining area that couples to a handle of a knife. The cover is configured to prevent movement of the blade or handle of a knife within the housing of the cover, without using foam that could dull the blade. The cover can be replaceable, disposable, and/or reusable. The knife cover and handle assembly reduces manufacturing time and cost, and environmental impact.
Retractable Surgical Blade Device and Method
A retractable surgical blade includes a handle defining a channel and a surgical blade member. The surgical blade member includes a body to which is secured a surgical blade. The body has a portion which engages the channel so that the surgical blade member can move from a cutting position in which the surgical blade projects from the handle and can be employed in a surgical procedure to a retracted position in which the surgical blade is disposed in the channel. When in the retracted position, the surgical blade is unable to cut or stab persons associated with the surgical procedure. The device further includes cooperating locking members on the handle and the body to position the surgical blade member in the desired position. An associated method of performing a surgical procedure is also disclosed.
Hip obturator and method for atraumatic hip access
An obturator provides access to a joint through a capsule surrounding the joint. A distal end of the obturator has a first distal location with a first width dimension and a second distal location with a second width dimension, wherein the second distal location is proximal to the first distal location and the second width dimension greater than the first width dimension. A retractable blade can extend from the obturator to be exposed between the first distal location and the second distal location.
