Cannula assembly

A cannula assembly including a camera system to help provide multiple viewing angles of a surgical site. This added visualization provides the surgeon with more comprehensive feedback during the surgical procedure, leading to better patient outcome and a reduction in the surgical failure rate. The cannula has a main lumen and a smaller secondary lumen and is insertable into the surgical site for easy surgeon adaptation. The camera is coupled to the secondary lumen toward the side of the cannula. This allows the camera to provide visualization without obstructing the main lumen for the use of tools. The camera wiring runs through a long tube connected to the camera and through a handle at the end of the tube without blocking access to the surgical site.

Multi-portal surgical systems, cannulas, and related technologies

A multi-portal method for treating a subject's spine includes distracting adjacent vertebrae using a distraction instrument positioned at a first entrance along the subject to enlarge an intervertebral space between the adjacent vertebrae. An interbody fusion implant can be delivered into the enlarged intervertebral space. The interbody fusion implant can be positioned directly between vertebral bodies of the adjacent vertebrae while endoscopically viewing the interbody fusion implant using an endoscopic instrument. The patient's spine can be visualized using endoscopic techniques to view, for example, the spine, tissue, instruments, and implants before, during, and after implantation, or the like. The visualization can help a physician throughout the surgical procedure to improve patient outcome.

DEVICES AND SYSTEMS FOR USE IN LAPAROSCOPIC SURGERY

An access device for a minimally invasive procedure can include a port body defining an instrument channel for a medical instrument, a radial extension extending at least partially outward from the body in a radial direction. The radial extension can extend from a distal end of the port body. The radial extension can define an imaging device cavity defined therein spaced from the port body and opening distally from the radial extension. The imaging device cavity can be configured to receive an imaging device therein for providing images within a field of view that is at least partially distal of the port body.

Vessel dissection and harvesting apparatus, systems and methods

Apparatus, systems, and methods for endoscopic dissection of blood vessels and control over cavity pressure within an endoscopic procedure are described herein. Apparatus, systems, and methods for harvesting of blood vessels are also described herein.

Enhanced control systems including flexible shielding and support systems for electrosurgical applications

An active electrode probe for an enhanced control surgery system is disclosed. The probe has a flexible conductor for delivering electrosurgical energy during an electrosurgical procedure, and is adapted for connection to an electrosurgical generator. The probe also has a flexible electrical insulation substantially surrounding the conductor. The probe also has a flexible conductive shield substantially enclosing the electrical insulation, the flexible conductive shield electrically connected to a reference potential, whereby any current which flows in the flexible conductive shield from the conductor is conducted to the reference potential. The flexible conductive shield is formed from a conductive wire.

PERCUTANEOUS PUNCTURE AND DILATION VISIBLE IRRIGATION-SUCTION SYSTEM AND METHOD OF USING THE SAME

The invention discloses a percutaneous puncture and dilation visible irrigation-suction system and a method of using the same. The system comprises a main tube, which is contiguous with the sheath tube and has an end for an endoscope insertion. The sheath tube comprises an inner sheath and an outer sheath joined together in a sleeve type. There is a space between inner and outer sheath. The inner sheath is connected to main tube, together building a channel via which the endoscope is inserted and withdrawn. The sheath tube is connected to main tube after completing puncture and dilation, then endoscope system is introduced for observation and operation. The present invention provides a percutaneous puncture and dilation visible irrigation-suction system and a method of using the same, with a continuous controllable visible negative pressure aspirator, achieving high irrigation and powerful suction efficiency, as well as clear endoscopic view.

Device for use in the treatment of hemorrhoids

A device for use in the treatment of hemorrhoids. The device includes an elongated tube-shaped element that includes a forward end and an aft end. The aft end provides access to the interior of the tube-shaped element. The tube-shaped element extends along a longitudinal axis L and includes at least one opening formed between the forward and aft end. The device includes an anal mucosa support device removably arranged within the tube shape element. The support device includes at least two cavities to receive anal mucosa. At least one needle guide structure is formed in the elongated tube-shaped element and the anal mucosa support device such that at least one needle is capable of being guided during movement within the tube-shaped element across the at least two cavities in the anal mucosa support device to a position where the needle extends across the opening in the tube-shaped element.

A central inflatable distractor and a perimeter balloon are inserted into the disc space in uninflated configurations. The central inflatable distractor is then expanded, thereby distracting the vertebral endplates to the controlled height of the central inflatable distractor. The perimeter balloon is then inflated with a curable substance. The perimeter balloon expands as it is filled with the curable substance and conforms to the void remaining in the disc space around the central inflatable distractor, thereby creating a horseshoe shape. Once the flowable material in the perimeter balloon has cured, the central inflated distractor can be deflated and removed. The remaining void (or inner space) is then packed with graft for fusion.

Multi-shield spinal access system

An access device for accessing an intervertebral disc having an outer shield comprising an access shield with a larger diameter (˜16-30 mm) that reaches from the skin down to the facet line, with an inner shield having a second smaller diameter (˜5-12 mm) extending past the access shield and reaches down to the disc level. This combines the benefits of the direct visual microsurgical/mini open approaches and the percutaneous, “ultra-MIS” techniques.

Filtration device and system

A fluid filtration device having an outer cylindrical surface with a first diameter having a longitudinal axis, and an inner cylindrical surface with an inner diameter substantially centered about the longitudinal axis, and a plurality of longitudinal holes substantially parallel to the longitudinal axis arranged between the outer cylindrical surface and the inner cylindrical surface.
