SEMICONDUCTOR DEVICES AND METHODS FOR PRODUCING THE SAME
Semiconductor devices, such as vertical-cavity surface-emitting lasers, and methods for manufacturing the same, are disclosed. The semiconductor devices include contact extensions and electrically conductive adhesive material, such as fusible metal alloys or electrically conductive composites. In some instances, the semiconductor devices further include structured contacts. These components enable the production of semiconductor devices having minimal distortion. For example, arrays of vertical-cavity surface-emitting lasers can be produced exhibiting little to no bowing. Semiconductor devices having minimal distortion exhibit enhanced performance in some instances.
Reliability extreme temperature integrated circuits and method for producing the same
An integrated circuit chip includes a wide bandgap semiconductor substrate, a plurality of semiconductor electronic components disposed on the semiconductor substrate, an overlying insulating layer disposed on the plurality of semiconductor devices, and a crack barrier laterally displaced from all of the plurality of semiconductor components. The crack barrier is configured to prevent propagation of cracks in the overlying insulating layer. The crack barrier does not conductively connect to any of the plurality of semiconductor electronic components.

DRY ETCH PROCESS LANDING ON METAL OXIDE ETCH STOP LAYER OVER METAL LAYER AND STRUCTURE FORMED THEREBY
A microelectronic device includes a metal layer on a first dielectric layer. An etch stop layer is disposed over the metal layer and on the dielectric layer directly adjacent to the metal layer. The etch stop layer includes a metal oxide, and is less than 10 nanometers thick. A second dielectric layer is disposed over the etch stop layer. The second dielectric layer is removed from an etched region which extends down to the etch stop layer. The etched region extends at least partially over the metal layer. In one version of the microelectronic device, the etch stop layer may extend over the metal layer in the etched region. In another version, the etch stop layer may be removed in the etched region. The microelectronic device is formed by etching the second dielectric layer using a plasma etch process, stopping on the etch stop layer.
SEMICONDUCTOR DEVICE AND SEMICONDUCTOR PACKAGE
A semiconductor device and a semiconductor package including the same are provided. The semiconductor device includes a semiconductor element; a protective layer disposed adjacent to the surface of the semiconductor element, the protective layer defining an opening to expose the semiconductor element; a first bump disposed on the semiconductor element; and a second bump disposed onto the surface of the protective layer. The first bump has a larger cross-section surface area than the second bump.

Low-temperature bonding with spaced nanorods and eutectic alloys
Bonded surfaces are formed by adhering first nanorods and second nanorods to respective first and second surfaces. The first shell is formed on the first nanorods and the second shell is formed on the second nanorods, wherein at least one of the first nanorods and second nanorods, and the first shell and the second shell are formed of distinct metals. The surfaces are then exposed to at least one condition that causes the distinct metals to form an alloy, such as eutectic alloy having a melting point below the temperature at which the alloy is formed, thereby bonding the surfaces upon which solidification of the alloy.
