PROCESS FOR MANUFACTURING OMNIPHOBIC COSMETIC PIGMENTS

For the cosmetic field, omniphobic cosmetic pigments under the form of a core shell structure: the core is or includes of a metal oxide on which is adsorbed poly(-(1.fwdarw.4)-D-glucosamine) chains; the chains being acetylated, or partially or totally deacetylated. Also, the process for manufacturing the omniphobic cosmetic pigments, including: (i) preparing an acidic aqueous solution including metal oxide particles and a poly (-(1.fwdarw.4)-D-glucosamine), the poly (-(1.fwdarw.4)-D-glucosamine) being acetylated, or partially or totally deacetylated; and (ii) increasing the pH until 12, of the solution obtained at step (i) in order to obtain the adsorption of said poly (-(1.fwdarw.4)-D-glucosamine on the metal oxide particles and the precipitation of the resulting metal oxide particles coated with the poly (-(1.fwdarw.4)-D-glucosamine.

Dentifrice composition

A dentifrice, such as toothpaste, containing chitosan or pharmaceutically acceptable acid addition salt thereof with fluoride ions, for use against erosive tooth demineralization, and kits containing chitosan or pharmaceutically acceptable acid addition salt thereof with fluoride ions, wherein one of the two active agents is comprised in a dentifrice, are described. The dentifrice in the form of toothpaste may furthermore comprise dissolved tin, in particular stannous ions. Toothpastes containing chitosan or pharmaceutically acceptable acid addition salt thereof with fluoride ions are tested in the treatment or prevention of erosive tooth demineralisation caused by citric acid.

Mucoadhesive polymers having vitamin B partial structures

Because of the formation of disulfide bridges with mucus glycoproteins, the mucoadhesive properties of polymeric compounds can be significantly improved by the covalent attachment of thiol substructures to them. By the transformation of free thiol groups on such polymers in disulfides with mercaptonicotinamides or mercaptopyridoxins these thiol groups become comparatively more reactive resulting in significantly improved mucoadhesive properties. Furthermore, polymers exhibiting disulfide partial structures with mercaptonicotinamides or mercaptopyridoxins do not need to be protected against oxidation. In addition, they show comparatively higher permeation enhancing properties.
