A retaining ring can be shaped by machining or lapping the bottom surface of the ring to form a shaped profile in the bottom surface. The bottom surface of the retaining ring can include flat, sloped and curved portions. The lapping can be performed using a machine that dedicated for use in lapping the bottom surface of retaining rings. During the lapping the ring can be permitted to rotate freely about an axis of the ring. The bottom surface of the retaining ring can have curved or flat portions.
Method for performing a magnetic separation procedure
A method for performing a magnetic separation procedure that includes transporting a receptacle containing a fluid medium to a first location of a system, where the fluid medium contains both a sample material and a suspension of magnetically-responsive solid supports. At the first location, the fluid medium is exposed to a first magnetic field for a first dwell period, thereby isolating the solid supports within the receptacle, where no portion of the fluid medium is removed from the receptacle at the first location. The receptacle is then transported from the first location to a second location of the system, where the fluid medium is exposed to a second magnetic field for a second dwell period. Following the second dwell period, at least a portion of the fluid medium is removed from the receptacle. A suspension fluid is then dispensed into the receptacle, and the contents of the receptacle are agitated to suspend the solid supports within the suspension fluid.
Surgical forceps
A forceps includes an end effector assembly having first and second jaw members movable between a spaced-apart position and an approximated position for grasping tissue therebetween. A knife assembly having a cutting blade disposed at a distal end thereof is also provided. The knife assembly is translatable relative to the end effector assembly between a retracted position and an extended position, wherein the cutting blade extends between the jaw members to cut tissue grasped therebetween. The knife assembly includes a proximal component and a first distal component that includes the cutting blade. The proximal and first distal components are removably coupled to one another to facilitate replacement of the first distal component. Methods of preparing such forceps for reuse are also provided.
Aseptic coupling devices
Formation of a sterile connection includes inserting a first aseptic coupling device into a second aseptic coupling device while a locking ring of the first aseptic device is in an indexed initial position, rotating the locking ring to a secured position in which a compressive force is created and in which a first membrane from the first aseptic coupling device and a second membrane from the second aseptic coupling device can removed thereby resulting in a first a first sealing member of the first aseptic coupling device sealing with a second sealing member of the second aseptic coupling device to form a sterile fluid passageway.
Circular stapling device including buttress material
An anvil assembly includes a circular anvil head that supports a crush ring, an anvil cap that supports an o-ring, and a circular anvil buttress member. The cap connects to the head and is movable relative to the head between approximated and unapproximated positions. The crush ring is spaced from the cap when the cap is in the approximated position and movable into engagement with the cap to move the cap to the unapproximated position. The buttress member includes a body portion and an extension portion. The body portion is supported on the head and the extension portion is secureable between the o-ring and the head when the cap is in the approximated position. The extension portion is releasable from between the o-ring and the head when the cap is disposed in the unapproximated position so that the body portion separates from the head.
Mechanical locking system for floorboards
Building panels, especially floor panels are shown, which are provided with a locking system that is configured to lock the adjacent edges by angling and that have a tongue and a strip on the same edge, and a method to divide a board and produce such building panels. A method for dividing a floor element, into a first floor panel and a second floor panel, said floor element including a core provided with a decorative surface layer and a balancing layer, wherein the method includes the step of forming, through the balancing layer or the decorative surface layer, a second groove by displacing the floor element past a fixed tool.
Liquid desiccant air conditioning systems and methods
Methods and systems are provided for air conditioning, capturing combustion contaminants, desalination, and other processes using liquid desiccants.
Method of reprocessing a surgical instrument
A method of disassembling a surgical instrument for reprocessing, includes accessing an interior housing of a surgical instrument to expose a slider assembly, an elongated outer shaft including a drive plate and knife assembly extending therethrough, and a torsion spring of the surgical instrument. The method further includes grasping an upper leg of the torsion spring to disengage the upper leg from a slot defined within the drive plate, disengaging the drive plate from the slider assembly, and removing the torsion spring from the slider assembly.
PHOTOSENSITIVE DRUM UNIT, ASSEMBLING METHOD THEREFOR, AND DISASSEMBLING METHOD THEREFOR
A photosensitive drum unit to which a coupling member 200 is easily mounted is provided. A drum flange 250 is fixed to one end portion of a cylinder 20A having a photosensitive layer at a peripheral surface. The coupling member 200 is inserted into the drum flange 250. Finally, a closing member 230 is mounted to the drum flange 250.
