Clinical dressing loaded with coffee extract
A method of making a supplemented wound dressing including preparing a coffee extract with or without cardamom and supplementing the wound dressing with the coffee extract is provided. The coffee beans may be Khulani coffee beans and they may be green coffee beans, lightly roasted coffee beans, or medium roasted coffee beans. The supplemented wound dressing prepared according to this method is effective to inhibit bacterial growth, particularly growth of methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus.
Use of green coffee based compositions for improving insulin profile
The present invention relates to a green coffee-based composition comprising hydrolysed chlorogenic acid for use in the treatment or prevention of a disorder linked to an increase in plasma postprandial insulin in a subject. The invention relates also to the non-therapeutic use of a composition comprising an esterase treated decaffeinated green coffee extract with an amount of 40-200 mg administered to a subject per day to decrease plasma postprandial insulin concentration. A further aspect of the invention is a process for forming green coffee based compositions.
TOPICAL SKIN CARE COMPOSITION FOR MODULATING EPIDERMAL GENE EXPRESSION
There is a topical skin care composition composed of a blend of hydroxytyrosol, green coffee extract and green tea leaf extract for use in the modulation of epidermal cellular gene expression profiles to alleviate various skin disorders and significantly reduce the resultant disease symptoms and reduce the rate at which the skin ages. More specifically, the topical skin care composition has hydroxytyrosol at a concentration range of 0.1% w/w to 0.75% w/w, green tea extract at a concentration range of 0.025% w/w to 0.1% w/w; and green coffee bean extract at a concentration range of 0.025% w/w to less than 0.2% w/w. A method of treating one or more of the hallmarks of ageing and skin degradation and collagen and elasticity as a single dosage from a pharmaceutical composition is described, as well as a method of activating skin cells having the step of applying the topical skin composition.
Compositions and methods for improving gut health
Various embodiments of a gut microbiome modulating composition comprises a blend of a polyphenol and an oligosaccharide. Various embodiments of the polyphenol may comprise at least approximately 5% by weight chlorogenic acid. Various embodiments of the oligosaccharides may be standardized to a degree of polymerization of at least three to reduce digestibility. Administration of an effective amount of the gut microbiome modulating composition to a person or animal may stimulate the growth of at least one of Akkermansia muciniphila, Lactobacillus, and Bifidobacterium bacteria in the colon, which may reduce permeability of the colon, increases short chain fatty acid production in the colon, and/or modulate causes immunomodulation of human colon cells. The gut microbiome modulating composition may provide protective effects against obesity-related chronic diseases.
