Conformable antenna using conducting polymers
Antenna including a wire made of a conducting polymer. The wire is sewn into fabric material in a selected pattern. A preferred conducing polymer is polypyrrole. It is also preferred that the wire be encased in a non-conductive, low dielectric plastic.
Antenna and method of manufacturing the antenna
A slot array antenna where slots are arrayed in two directions is provided for suppressing occurrence of side lobes. An antenna includes a radiation waveguide part and stubs. The radiation waveguide part has two sheets of metal plates facing each other and outwardly radiates a radio wave from a plurality of slots formed in one of the metal plates. Each stub is arranged for every slot to extend inward of the radiation waveguide part from the face where the slots are formed, and changes a transmission mode of the radio wave within the radiation waveguide part. The slots are narrow and arranged at fixed intervals in both a longitudinal direction and a lateral direction of the slots. The stub is disposed for every slot, on either side of the slot in the lateral direction. Between the adjacent slots, the stubs are disposed on the opposite sides in the lateral direction.
Antenna assembly, wireless communication device and method of manufacturing same
An antenna assembly includes a holder having a first surface and a second surface opposite from the first surface. The antenna assembly defines a number of holes through the first surface and the second surface. A number of connectors are correspondingly received and secured in the holes. The connectors includes an elastic thimble portion on one end. An antenna module is formed on the holder. One end of the connectors connects to the antenna module, while the end with elastic thimble protrudes from the second surface for connecting to a circuit board. A wireless communication device employing the antenna assembly and a method of manufacturing the wireless communication device are also disclosed.
Card with metal layer and an antenna
In a smart card having an antenna structure and a metal layer, an insulator layer is formed between the antenna structure and the metal layer to compensate for the attenuation due to the metal layer. The thickness of the insulator layer affects the capacitive coupling between the antenna structure and the metal layer and is selected to have a value which optimizes the transmission/reception of signals between the card and a card reader.
Electronic interface apparatus and method and system for manufacturing same
A method for manufacture of an electronic interface card including defining a pair of apertures in a substrate layer, associating an antenna with the substrate layer such that opposite ends of the antenna terminate at the apertures, placing a metal element in each of the apertures, connecting the ends of the antenna to the metal elements, laminating the substrate layer together with a top layer and a bottom layer, forming a recess in the top layer and the substrate layer, attaching ends of connection wires to the metal elements, attaching opposite ends of the connection wires to a chip module and sealing the chip module in the recess.
Housing, handheld device, and manufacturing method of housing
A housing, a handheld device and a manufacturing method of a housing are provided. The housing includes a body, a metal antenna layer, and a conductive element. The body includes a through hole and an outer surface and an inner surface opposite to the outer surface. The metal antenna layer is disposed on the outer surface and covers the through hole, wherein an edge of the metal antenna layer is connected to the outer surface seamlessly, and a surface of the metal antenna layer is at least partially exposed by the body. The conductive element is disposed in the through hole and directly contacts the metal antenna layer to transmit signals received by the metal antenna layer.
Variable angle mount for attaching a mast to a structure
Mounting systems and apparatus are provided for attaching a mast to a structure at a desired orientation. The mounting apparatus includes a base support and a ball mount. The base support can be rigidly attached to a portion of the structure. The ball mount receives a ball associated with the mast to thereby allow the mast to be positioned and maintained at the desired orientation. The mounting apparatus may be used, for example, for attaching a digital broadcast satellite (DBS) antenna to a fascia or other portion of a home or other structure.
Twist for connecting orthogonal waveguides in a single housing structure
A twist for coupling radiation between orthogonal waveguides is provided. The twist includes at least three cavities opening from at least one of a first X1-Y1 surface and a second X2-Y2 surface of a metal block. A first cavity has a first opening in a first Y-Z plane and a second opening in a second Y-Z plane offset from the first Y-Z plane by a first length. A second cavity shares the second opening with the first cavity and has a third opening in a third Y-Z plane offset from the second Y-Z plane by a second length and has at least two heights and at least two widths. A last cavity shares a next-to-last opening in a next-to-last Y-Z plane with a next-to-last cavity. The last cavity has a last opening in a last Y-Z plane offset from the next-to-last Y-Z plane by a last length.
Wirelessly detectable objects for use in medical procedures and methods of making same
Various embodiments of a wirelessly detectable object to be used in medical procedures are provided. The object may include a piece of absorbent material, a transponder to wirelessly receive and transmit signals, and a cover. The cover is attached directly to the piece of absorbent material to retain the transponder. Methods of manufacturing wirelessly detectable objects are also provided.
Antenna coil component, antenna unit, and method of manufacturing the antenna coil component
Provided is an antenna coil component including a bobbin around which a winding is wound, a base provided at least at one end side of the bobbin, and one or more metal terminals each fixed to the base, at least one metal terminal among these metal terminals including a fixing part for fixing the metal terminal to the base, a mounting part provided at a position away from the fixing part, and a neck part for connecting the fixing part and the mounting part to each other. The neck part has a length in a direction substantially orthogonal to a direction from the fixing part to the mounting part and substantially parallel to surfaces of the mounting part, which is narrower than that of the mounting part. Provided as well are an antenna unit using the antenna coil component, and a method of manufacturing the antenna coil component.
