LOBED NUT CAP
20170050746 · 2017-02-23 ·

The present invention proposes a cap having a collar portion with three or more contact regions arranged to contact the end of a fastener around which the collar portion is provided, the collar portion having a lobed shape in cross-section such that an outwardly projecting lobe extends between each neighbouring pair of contact regions. An advantage of this lobed arrangement is that the cap can tolerate relatively large manufacturing tolerances at the fastener end. For example, the cap may be for fitting over a nut or fastener head, with the contact regions of the cap being arranged to contact corresponding contact regions on a cylindrical collar base portion of the nut or fastener head. The diameter of this cylindrical collar portion may not be well controlled, so that the manufacturing tolerance is high. The lobed shape of the cap base ensures that the contact regions will always provide a good frictional engagement with the nut, whether the cylindrical collar is undersized, oversized, or at its nominal diameter.

Joining device for conduits and associated joining process

First and second conduits are joined in a manner to control electrical resistance of a conduit circuit. A cylindrical section of an adapter is placed onto an end of the first conduit. A part of the cylindrical section is crimped onto the first conduit while a spacing block made of a polymer material having a previously chosen conductivity is positioned around the end of the first conduit and clipped onto the cylindrical section. The crimping locks the spacing block to the adapter and deforms an assembly comprising the clipping pieces of the spacing block and the adapter, so as to immobilize the clipping pieces relative to each other in a direction parallel to an axis of the cylindrical section of the adapter, and such that an exterior surface of the first conduit engages interior surfaces of the spacing block and the adapter.

Placard holder

A placard holder has a clamp member with an enlarged head and an elongated stem. The head defines a narrow slot such that a card containing visually perceptible or machine readable information can be mounted to the head by a friction fit of an edge of the card inserted into the slot. The clamp member attaches to a supporting article such as a display stand by extending the stem through a hole of a thin wall of the support and placing a lock washer over the stem opposite the head. The lock washer is forced along the stem end to compress the wall between it and the head. Compression is maintained by prongs of the lock washer that engage radially protruding teeth disposed along the elongated stem. Paper or plastic placards such as business cards, credit cards, place cards, gift cards can be placed in the placard holder for display.
