UNIVERSAL JOINT WITH CENTRAL ELEMENT
A linkage system for transmitting torque includes a central element, an input arm and an output arm. The central element has four sides and a top and bottom. The input arm and an output arm each have a head portion for connecting with the central element and a body portion. The head portion of each of the input and output arms defines a bearing surface having a first radius. The input and output arms engage the central element such that the bearing surfaces of the heads are offset by 90 degrees.
Surgical instrument with jaw member
A surgical instrument for supplying energy to tissue may comprise a handle, a trigger, an electrical input, and a shaft extending from the handle. The surgical instrument may comprise an end effector first and second tissue engaging surfaces that are slanted with respect to a transection plane. The end effector may, for example, have an electrode defining a V-shaped cross sectional profile. The end effector may comprise a plurality of raised surfaces that are received by a plurality of indentions when the end effector is in the closed position. The end effector may comprise a cutting member having a plurality of bands.
Pediatric internal mandibular distractor
A pediatric mandibular distractor comprising a housing member elongating along a longitudinal axis, the housing member having at least one elongated slot elongating along at least a portion of the longitudinal axis and opening laterally through at least a side portion of the housing member; at least one fixed footplate attached to the housing member; a drive rod; and at least one moveable footplate engageable with the drive rod through the elongated slot by a connector. Wherein, when the fixed and moveable footplates are attached to the respective first and second bone surfaces, a bottom portion of the housing member is proximate to the first and second bone surfaces, and the side portion is further from the bone surfaces than the bottom portion in a direction transverse to the longitudinal axis. Methods of assembling and installing the exemplary pediatric mandibular distractor summarized above are also disclosed.
Angle and alignment adjusting method for a display
A light-emitting display system has an alignment mechanism to align or angle light-emitting tiles of the display. A first tile connects to a second tile by joining a first clamp portion on the first tile with a second clamp portion on the second tile. In an implementation, the alignment mechanism includes a replaceable angle adjustment insert that is inserted into at least one of the clamp portions, such as the first clamp portion. When the first and second clamp portions are joined, a surface of the second clamp portion presses against the insert and a desired angle between the first and second tile is formed. The insert can have any angle so that any desired angle can be formed between the first and second tiles.
Dispenser for cable support and method
A dispenser is disclosed for carrying and dispensing a cable support of the type having a pair of hook structures disposed on opposite sides of a central shaft. The dispenser comprises a plurality of rails extending in parallel, spaced-apart relationship to one another and joined to one another at respective proximal ends thereof. Each rail has a cantilevered distal end slidably receivable within one of the hook structures of the cable support. Each rail further has a cantilevered distal end to allow the cable support to be slidably removed from the rail along the distal end.
Methods for assembling a modular floating production storage and offloading vessel
Embodiments described generally relate to methods for assembling a modular floating production storage and offloading (FPSO) vessel. A cargo module section, a forward module, and a rear module can be positioned and aligned with each other such that the cargo module section can be disposed between the forward module and the rear module. A plurality of connectors can be coupled together to secure the forward module and the cargo module section together and another plurality of connectors can be coupled together to secure the rear module and the cargo module section together. A first topside module can be installed onto or over an upper surface of the forward module and can include a flare tower, a turret, hydrocarbon production equipment, or any combination thereof.
Glazing system with thermal break
A self-locking glazing system includes a female profile having a first locking extension and a first leg extending therefrom, the first leg having a first tip. The system includes a male profile having a second locking extension and a second leg extending therefrom, the second leg having a second tip that is approximately opposite the first tip, and a thermal break material positioned between the female and male profiles. When a panel is positioned between the first and second tips, the female profile and the male profile are caused to engage against the thermal break material.
Retrofittable Motorized Gearbox Assembly
The invention is a motorized gearbox assembly. The motorized gearbox assembly includes a motor that drives an output shaft. The output shaft actuates a window covering by applying torque to a tilt rod of the window covering. The output shaft extends substantially an entire length of the motorized gearbox assembly. It also has a through-channel that extends substantially an entire length of the output shaft, so that the tilt rod can pass entirely through the motorized gearbox assembly. Because of this, the motorized gearbox assembly can be used for retrofitting blinds. In some embodiments, the motorized gearbox assembly has a diametrically polarized magnet driven by the output shaft, and a position encoder that measures the output shaft's position and number of rotations.
Indexable cutting insert and cutting tool therefor
A cutting tool assembly includes a cutting tool and an indexable cutting insert having an insert index axis. The cutting insert includes parallel insert first and second sides connected by an insert peripheral surface that extends peripherally around the cutting insert. At least one clamping hole opens out to one or both of the insert first and second sides, and at least a portion of the clamping hole is in a clamping region of the cutting insert. The insert peripheral surface includes cutting edges that are spaced-apart and extend from the insert first side to the insert second side. Along a width direction, which is perpendicular to the insert first and second sides, each of the cutting edges is wider than the cutting insert, at least at the cutting region of the cutting insert.
System and method for retracting body tissue
Retractor systems and methods for retracting body tissue during surgery. The retractor system includes a rail having two opposed widened rail portions separated by a narrowed portion, each widened portion engageable by a separate clamp. The clamps are configured to support the rail to a fixed surface, or to support a surgical device. Each clamp may independently be positioned or slid along the rail to a desired location without interference with a clamp on an opposing widened rail portion. A device clamp is formed of spherical mating portions which enable alignment of a surgical device along six degrees of freedom, and tightenable by securing a single fastener. A retractor blade mount enables an angular and tilting disposition of a retractor blade, as well as remote manipulation of the retractor blade.
