The anchor body defines at least one bore configured to receive a catheter therein. An adhesive dressing is disposed on the top side of the flange. The adhesive dressing includes a first portion and a second portion. The first portion at least partially covers the first side of the flange, and the second portion extends radially outward of the flange relative to the anchor body.

The present invention provides a protective device that protects the patient's skin and underlying tissue from pressure and injury resulting from pressure on the skin/tissue and/or compression of nerves by IV lines associated with medical procedures, medication administration, for nutritional purposes, and the like. In one embodiment, a protective device in accordance with the present invention comprises a body defining a window dimensioned to receive a portion of an IV line, said body having a lower surface having an area greater than said portion of said IV line. The window may be internal to, or open to, a peripheral edge of the body. Adhesive may be applied to the upper and/or lower surface of the body. A securing tab or catch may be provided to secure the IV line to the body.

The mounting wing extends distally of an insertion site a skin surface adjacent to the insertion site to prevent “rocking” or “pistoning.” The mounting wing further includes channels of reduced thickness configured to impart malleable properties on the mounting wing. This can allow the mounting wing to be shaped to fit different portions of the patient. The retainer further includes various locking and anti-rotational features to guide the catheter into position within the retainer and further prevent “rocking” or “pistoning.” The securement device also includes a protective pad to inhibit abrasions from a medical line, spin nuts, and the like, and includes a clasping feature to retain a portion of the release liner to prevent obstructing ingress/egress of the catheter.

A chest tube incision in a notched region of the substrate provides an entry point for the chest tube which is anchored to the substrate by way of an intermediate flexible membrane that covers and adheres to the chest tube and substrate. The intermediate flexible membrane has a matching notched region adapted to accommodate the chest tube. The chest tube and incision are adapted to be covered by a transparent cover sheet which covers and adheres to a portion of the substrate, the intermediate flexible membrane and to a portion of the human skin 415.

A method and system of and for securing a lumen or catheter, after placement in a patient, to prevent unwanted removal or dislodgement of the lumen or catheter caused by patient movement and/or further medical interventions such as cardiopulmonary chest compressions, electrical defibrillation, surgical procedures, and the like. The method and system comprising simple and sterile materials that preclude the use of excessive suturing and ineffective ad-hoc methods with tape and gauze. The catheter is secured by a rubber on plastic frictional force and will resist external forces while preventing the tube structure from bending and subsequent occlusion. The device can be comfortably attached to the patient in all of the anatomical locations typically targeted for large catheter installment. The method of securement is rapid and requires only a single personnel to handle the device and the catheter tube simultaneously.

An antimicrobial light dressing device, system and method for a percutaneous treatment that bathes a treatment region around the percutaneous insertion with an antibacterial illumination source for preventing pathogens around the insertion from entering via the dermal puncture created by the insertion. The antimicrobial light dressing device combines a circumferential body centered around the insertion, and an arrangement of LEDs around the body that focus the light around the insertion and onto a therapeutic region of the insertion. An opening in the circumferential body has an articulated protrusion for offsetting a medicinal vessel such as an IV tube off the skin surface to avoid blocking light to an area under the vessel.
