Face mask with seal within seal and optional bridging seal
10674776 · 2020-06-09 · ·

The present face mask may have a double seal, a triple seal or a quadruple seal, with distinct spacing between each of the seals within a set of seals. Each of the seals within a double seal, triple seal, or quadruple seal may stand alone or may be interconnected to other seals by bridging, where such bridging is formed of the same adhesive as the seal itself. Also disclosed is an after market embodiment where a multiple seal by itself is housed between two sheets of release paper to be applied to a face mask by the user himself when needed. Further disclosed is a multiple seal with bridging applied to a clothing combination, such as to seal sleeve cuffs to a glove.

Personal respiratory protection device

The present invention relates to a personal respiratory protection device, in particular, such a device comprising a respirator body having a periphery, a filter media, forming at least part of the respirator body, and a gasket, the gasket being located at the periphery and extending along at least a portion of its length.

A facial mask includes a foam sealer that is attached at one or more sides of the mask. The foam sealer prevents air or breath from going upwards out of the mask, thereby preventing glasses from being fogged up during surgery. It also keeps air or materials from getting into the mask and prevents, to a degree, bodily fluids and unwanted odors from penetrating the mask than existing masks. The mask prevents unwanted distractions to the surgeon or other medical personnel. The mask also may prevent medical illnesses from the inhalation of air, the exposure to bodily fluids, or the transfer of gases. The foam sealer is comprised of open cell foam. The facial mask acts as a more complete barrier to odors and bodily fluids that may otherwise endanger both the user or other personnel. The decreases in fogging of glasses also will make use of the facial mask safer than normal masks because of increased visibility during surgery or other procedures.

IMPROVEMENTS RELATING TO FACE MASKS

Face masks, including filter masks, and methods for their production. The disclosed masks include a face mask comprising a mask body that defines a cavity for accommodating the nose and mouth of a wearer and a sealing member depending from the mask body for engagement with the wearer's face, the mask body comprising a filter (91) and a gas inlet (142), the filter being located in a first region of the mask body and the gas inlet being located in a second region of the mask body; and a nasal portion for accommodating the nose of the wearer, a mouth portion for accommodating the mouth of the wearer, and cheek portions (134, 135) extending laterally across the wearer's cheeks.

PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT AND METHODS

Improved personal protective equipment facial wear including, in one embodiment, an at least partly adhesive mask, and one or more adhesive eye shields. In one implementation, the mask avoids significant contact with the delicate periorbital skin of the wearer, yet provides a substantially airtight seal so as to preclude moisture vapor transfer and fogging of eyeware or instruments. In another implementation, adherence of the eye shield is at least partially overlapping with the mask and creates an at least partial seal around a perimeter of the eye shield. Further, an at least partial seal is formed around a perimeter of the mask. The mask and eye shield additionally prevent nasal air flow obstruction, and address the problem of skin irritation and attachment during normal facial expression and movement of the wearer.

A strapless face mask device comprised of a hollow plastic frame that is covered by a sleeve or protective covering. The body sleeve or covering protects the face, nose, mouth and chin area of the wearer such that any respiratory droplets from the wearer are prevented from entering into the surrounding environment and potentially infecting other individuals. Further, the personal protection device has at least one and preferably two tightening mechanisms that allow a wearer to tighten or loosen the seal that the frame makes with their face. Each tightening mechanism may receive a cable that runs within the hollow frame via a spool within each mechanism. When each spool is rotated, the cable upon each spool is tightened or loosened which in turn increases or decreases the convex angle of the frame to tighten or loosen the seal of the frame against the face of the wearer.

The respiratory protective device includes a face seal and filter comprising two chambers, an inner chamber and outer chamber. The inner chamber is in fluid communication with the outer chamber, which is in fluid communication with the external environment. The respiratory protective device further comprises a face seal having an open annular-shaped portion, forming a flexible seal by encircling the nose and mouth of a user. The filter sealing ring includes an annular shape that is complementary to an annular-shaped portion of the face seal. The filter sealing ring may detachably mate with the face seal to define a void area. The void area is annular-shaped and suitable to receive a filter having a complementary annular-shaped flange. The shell may sealably and detachably mate with the respiratory protective device. The eye shield may detachably mate with the shell. The seal check apparatus may sealably mate with the respiratory protective device.

A mask for use at an operating pressure substantially equal to atmospheric pressure includes a body with a three-dimensional shaped chamber that is configured to receive a user's mouth and nares and operate at the operating pressure. The mask also includes a nose portion having an uppermost portion sized to avoid contact with the user's nasal ridge and to contact the user's nose along the user's sagittal plane and around at least a portion of the user's nares on an inferior side of the user's nose inferior to the user's nasal ridge. The nose portion is constructed from an at least partially impermeable material to limit airflow toward the user's eyes in use. The mask also includes a positioning and stabilising structure to provide a force to hold the seal forming structure in position against the user.

PERSONAL PROTECTIVE MASK

A personal protective mask includes a mask body having an expandable section that is positioned between the top and bottom ends of the mask. An adhesive material is positioned on the inside surface of the mask along the outer periphery. The adhesive comprises skin safe adhesive for creating an air tight seal between the mask and the face of a wearer. The mask includes a nose clip, a sweat band and at least one headband. The mask is constructed in accordance with N95 standards, and the expandable section transitions between a contracted and expanded state, to conform to the movements of the user's jaw. The expandable section includes two folds and a middle section. The folds move linearly about each other so as to prevent deformation of the mask outward from the user's face.
