Multi-site body fluid sampling and analysis cartridge
An arrangement includes a housing, a plurality of sampling and analysis sites contained within the housing, each of the sampling and analysis sites having a skin-penetration member having a first end configured to pierce the skin, and an inner lumen in communication with the first end, an actuator operatively associated with the skin-penetration member, and an analyte quantification member in fluid communication with the inner lumen of the skin-penetration member. Integrated devices including such arrangements are also described.
Methods for obtaining blood from a subject
Provided herein are methods for extracting blood from a subject's digit, such as a finger. Methods provided herein may release relatively large quantities of blood from a pierced finger. Pressure can be applied at selected locations on the subject's digit to increase blood flow released from the subject.
Eliciting a blood sample
Within examples, an apparatus for eliciting a blood sample includes a testing member rotatably mounted on a shaft; and an aperture for positioning a body part of the user relative to the edge of the testing member, wherein an edge of the testing member is shaped such as repeatedly to exert pressure on the skin of a user when the testing member is rotated.
Device for the Attached Flow of Blood
A collection device (10) which directs a flow of blood into a container (14) and provides a controlled blood flow path that ensures blood flow from a collection site to a collection container is disclosed.
Device for Obtaining a Blood Sample
A device for obtaining a biological sample, such as a capillary blood collection device, that has the ability to lance and squeeze the finger, collect the sample, stabilize the sample, and subsequently dispense the sample in a controlled manner is disclosed. The device also simplifies and streamlines the capillary blood collection by eliminating workflow variabilities which are typically associated with low sample quality including hemolysis and micro-clots.
Device for separation and collection of plasma
A method for separating and collecting cell-free plasma by finger stick that minimizes contamination with genomic DNA from a donor. The method comprising placing a tourniquet on one of the digits of the donor's finger to apply pressure, lancing the digit to create an incision in the digit, and collecting blood from the incision from the incision site. The collected blood is placed on a separation membrane wherein the separation membrane is in contact with a collection membrane and both the separation and collection membrane are inserted into a substrate configured to provide overlap between the membranes. A kit and instructions for carrying out the method is also provided.
Placental and cord blood collection device with safety
A novel blood collection device is described to secure a needle in place in a placenta or umbilical cord to prevent needle stick before, during, and after cord blood collection procedure.
DELIVERING AND/OR RECEIVING FLUIDS
The present invention generally relates to receiving bodily fluid through a device opening. In one aspect, the device includes a flow activator arranged to cause fluid to be released from a subject. A deployment actuator may actuate the flow activator in a deployment direction, which may in turn cause fluid release from a subject. The flow activator may also be moved in a retraction direction by a retraction actuator. In one aspect, the device may include a rotatable element that actuates the deployment actuator.
COMPRESSION DEVICE, METHOD, AND KIT FOR EXTRACTING BLOOD FROM A FINGER
A compression device for extracting blood from a finger comprises a plunger slidably retained within a handle and a flexible strap with a first end attached to the plunger and a second end attached to the handle. The flexible strap forms a loop encircling the finger. Sliding of the handle towards the plunger applies pulling tension on the second end of the flexible strap causing reduction in its perimeter and leading to applying circumferential compression of the finger positioned inside. Periodic application of finger compression and relaxation urges blood to be extracted from the finger and collected in a scalable container.
Puncturing system
Disclosed is a puncturing system for generating a puncture wound for obtaining a sample of a body fluid, comprising a press-on part to be pressed onto a body part in which a puncture wound is to be generated, a trigger, by the actuation of which a user can trigger a puncturing motion of a puncturing element after the press-on part is pressed on, and a testing facility for determining at least one test parameter on which a sample-obtaining probability depends. A securing facility is also provided that, in a locked state, locks the trigger such that no puncturing motion can be triggered, and, in a triggering state, releases the trigger such that a puncturing motion can be triggered by actuation thereof, whereby the securing facility is transitioned from the locked state to the triggering state by the testing facility when the test parameter determined by the testing facility meets defined minimum requirements. A signaling facility is also provided for signaling a transition of the securing facility to the triggering state and/or for signaling that the securing facility is in the triggering state. Also disclosed is a method for preparing a puncturing system for generating a puncture wound.
