A detection device for active dental caries and/or tooth erosion, comprising a light detection means, fluid dispensing means, and an atomiser, wherein the fluid dispensing means and atomiser are in fluid communication such that a disclosing fluid contained within the fluid dispensing means is dispensed through the atomiser evenly onto a surface of interest.

Oral insert and uses thereof for calculating forces to the head

The present disclosure generally provides oral inserts useful for determining forces experienced by a user, such as a human user, to the head, for example, by measuring one or more of acceleration, velocity, displacement, or rotation. In some aspects, the disclosure provides oral inserts that, when worn properly by a human user, calculate the forces experienced by the user's head with high accuracy. In some aspects, the disclosure provides systems for detecting and calculating forces experienced by the user's head and to determine whether such forces are above a certain threshold indicative of increased concussion risk. In some aspects, the disclosure provides methods for calculating forces experienced by the user's head and determining whether such forces are above a certain threshold indicative of concussion.

SMART TEETHING APPARATUS
20230190584 · 2023-06-22 ·

A teething apparatus includes a water-resistant housing containing a controller and a power source and communication means and a plurality of sensors in communication with the surface of the housing arranged and configured to detect at least pH and at least one volatile organic compound. Each of the plurality of sensors is in data communication with the controller and the controller is capable of communication with an external device via communication means. The apparatus may be a component of a larger system and may be used in a method including the steps of providing a teething apparatus to an oral cavity of an infant, establishing a data connection between the teething apparatus and a remote device, and relaying information from the teething apparatus to the remote device, the information comprising the qualitative measurement of one or more volatile organic compounds and the quantitative value of pH in the oral cavity.

STREP THROAT TEST APPARATUS
20170354399 · 2017-12-14 ·

An apparatus for testing for streptococcal pharyngitis includes a tube having an open first end and a second end, and an opening on a side thereof, a dipstick inserted into the tube through the side opening, and an insert with a hole that can receive the dipstick and sized to nest the dipstick into the side opening of the tube. A swab at the end of the dipstick inside the tube receives microbes in a breath exhaled by a patient holding the first end of the tube to the patient's mouth. After being exhaled upon by the patient, the dipstick is removed for testing for the presence of microbes that cause streptococcal pharyngitis.

INTRAORAL MONITORING DEVICE, SYSTEM, AND METHOD

An intraoral monitoring device includes a plurality of sensors integrated on a flexible substrate. The plurality of sensors includes first and second photoplethysmography (PPG) sensors. The first PPG sensor is coupled along an anterior portion of the flexible substrate and adapted to be located intraorally along a first anatomical location defined along a mid-line of a maxilla, facing the labial mucosa, directly at a septal branch of a superior labial artery in a front lip to consistently provide a plurality of first PPG signal, relating to a plurality of cardiorespiratory parameters. Further, the second PPG sensor is coupled to a rear portion of the flexible substrate, adapted to be located intraorally along a second anatomical location defined along the interior part of an oral cavity facing outward toward the labial mucosa to consistently provide a plurality of second PPG signals, relating to a plurality of muscular parameters.
