Flexible Circuit Coils
Disclosed is a system for determining a location and configuration of an expandable member. A flexible coil can be provided on a shape changing portion, such as an expandable portion, to measure a signal as the shape changes.
CORONARY OSTIAL CARDIAC CIRCULATION ISOLATION CATHETER AND VENTRICULAR UNLOADING REPERFUSION SYSTEMS AND METHODS
An interventional ostium occlusion catheter includes a catheter tube with at least one port at a first end, a tip at a second end, and a central lumen, with a positioning component and an occlusion component on the surface of the catheter tube close to the tip. A method of coronary intervention using the catheter includes maneuvering the catheter to an ostium; inserting the catheter into a coronary vessel; activating the positioning component and the occlusion component; and delivering an infusion via the lumen. An interventional system for improving management of ischemic cardiac tissue during acute coronary syndromes includes the catheter; a blood infusion device that delivers controlled reperfusate; and a ventricular unloading device that manipulates myocardial oxygen demand in a coronary chamber. The operator can mitigate reperfusion-related and oxygen-related tissue injury by precisely modulating oxygen re-exposure when re-establishing flow and when using a ventricular unloading device.
Systems and methods for selectively occluding the superior vena cava for treating heart conditions
Systems and methods and devices are provided for treating conditions such as heart failure and/or pulmonary hypertension by at least partially occluding flow through the superior vena cava for an interval spanning multiple cardiac cycles. A catheter with an occlusion device is provided along with a controller that actuates a drive mechanism to provide at least partial occlusion of the patient's superior vena cava, which reduces cardiac filling pressures, and induces a favorable shift in the patient's Frank-Starling curve towards healthy heart functionality and improved cardiac performance. The occlusion device may include a lumen obstructed by a relief valve that may permit fluid flow through the occlusion device to release an excessive build-up of pressure.
DEVICES FOR TESTING DISTAL COLONIC AND ANORECTAL FUNCTION
A pellet for testing intestinal and anorectal function. In one embodiment of a system of the present disclosure, the system comprises a pellet comprising a balloon or bag, and a fill tube configured to be removably coupled to the pellet, the fill tube configured to permit selective filling of the balloon or bag
METHODS AND SYSTEMS TO MEASURE GASTROINTESTINAL MOTILITY BASED ON A BALLOON BASED SYSTEM
The present invention is directed to a balloon based system and method for measuring gastrointestinal motility. The balloon can be a stand-alone balloon with pressure sensing capabilities or the balloon can be deployed as a component of a catheter-based system. The balloon can be deployed in an uninflated state and can be inflated with fluid such as air, water, or other biocompatible fluid while disposed within the gastrointestinal tract. The pressure sensor can take the form of a pressure sensor disposed within the balloon or disposed on a surface of the balloon. Additional, sensors can also be applied to monitor other conditions, function, or disease state.
DEVICE FOR DETECTING PROSTATE FEATURES
A device for detecting the characteristics of the prostate includes: an insertion element that is intended to be inserted through the anus into a subject’s rectum, a pressure sensor which is mounted on an expandable element and which is configured to detect the elasticity of the prostate tissues of the subject and/or at least a morphological and/or dimensional characteristic of the prostate of said subject, the expandable element which is configured to assume a first condition, in which it is housed in the insertion element, and a second a condition in which the pressure sensor is brought into contact with the prostate, an extractor, associated with the insertion element, which remains external to the anus of the subject, and an introducer element configured to be inserted inside the anus of the subject for stabilization of the device with respect to the anus of the subject.
METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR MEASURING THE PROSTATIC URETHRAL LENGTH
Devices and methods are disclosed for determining prostatic urethral length. A balloon catheter subassembly is in fluid communication between an inner cavity of a syringe body and an expandable balloon is positioned at a distal end of the balloon catheter subassembly. An adapter secured to the syringe body having a syringe plunger includes a lock that engages the syringe plunger at a predefined position with respect to the syringe body corresponding to a desired inflation state of the expandable balloon. Prostatic urethral length can then be determined using markings indicating distance from the expandable balloon.
MULTI-SENSOR CATHETER FOR RIGHT HEART AND PULMONARY ARTERY CATHETERIZATION
A system comprising a multi-sensor catheter for monitoring a cardiac hemodynamic condition, e.g. heart failure. The multi-sensor catheter comprises multi-lumen catheter tubing, first and second optical pressure sensors, and respective optical fibers and connectors. For right heart and pulmonary artery catheterization, a flow-directed multi-sensor catheter comprises a guidewire lumen, inflatable balloon tip, and sensor locations are configured for placement of a sensor in each of the right atrium and pulmonary artery, for measurement of central venous pressure in the right atrium and a pulmonary artery pressure. An optical fiber for oximetry may be included. The outside diameter is small enough for insertion through a vein of the arm. For monitoring of a cardiac shunt, sensors are configured for measuring pressures upstream and downstream of the cardiac shunt, e.g. in left and right atria, or left atrium and coronary sinus.
System and method for treating heart tissue
Some embodiments of a system or method for treating heart tissue can include a control system and catheter device operated in a manner to intermittently occlude a heart vessel for controlled periods of time that provide redistribution of blood flow. In particular embodiments, the system can be configured to provide an estimation of the cumulative effects of the treatment. For example, some embodiments of the system or method can treat myocardium that is at risk of infarction by intermittently altering blood flow in a venous system to induce microcirculation within the myocardium, and can output a cumulative dosage value indicative of a measurement of progress of reducing an infarct size.
EXPANDABLE DEVICE FOR TISSUE COLLECTION FROM AN AERODIGESTIVE BODY LUMEN
A device for obtaining tissue from the aerodigestive tract is provided. The device may have internal and external folds and a tissue collection surface for collecting a tissue sample from a body lumen, such as the nose or throat. The present invention is also directed to methods of collecting a tissue sample using the devices, described herein.
