Low-bulk, close-fitting, high-capacity disposable absorbent pant

A low bulk, high capacity disposable absorbent pant is disclosed. The pant may have a variety of combinations of features that contribute to imparting the pant with a more close-fitting, discreet appearance, particularly under outer clothing, more resembling that of an ordinary undergarment. The features may include an arrangement of relatively closely-spaced elastomeric strands in a belt structure; elastomeric strands in the belt structure having active portions that traverse forward and rearward portions of an absorbent pad assembly; an arrangement of elastomeric strands in the belt structure below the side seams; an arrangement of longitudinal elastic strands in the absorbent pad assembly that are closer to the longitudinal axis of the pant than to the side seams; and/or an absorbent core structure having portions that are tapered and/or channeled.

A new disposable absorbent article having a plurality of slits positioned in a middle region below the top and above the bottom edges of side panels of the absorbent article has been discovered. By placing the plurality of slits below the top and above the bottom edges of the side panels improve absorbent article breathability and lessens the amount of force the absorbent article applies onto the wearer's leg when donned.

ABSORBENT ARTICLE

An absorbent article (1) of the present invention has, in at least one of a front portion and a rear portion thereof, an elasticized portion (G) that is stretchable and contractible in an article lateral direction (Y). The elasticized portion (G) has an outer sheet (22) to be disposed on a side that is away from the skin of a wearer, an inner sheet (23) to be disposed on a side that is closer to the skin of the wearer than the outer sheet (22) is, and a plurality of elastic members (24) that are arranged between the outer and inner sheets in a state in which the elastic members are stretched in the article lateral direction (Y). The outer sheet (22) and the inner sheet (23) are partially joined to each other at a joined region (26). The joined region (26) is sandwiched between non-joined regions (36) where the outer sheet (22) and the inner sheet (23) are not continuously joined to each other in an article longitudinal direction or the article lateral direction. A plurality of the joined regions (26) and a plurality of the non-joined regions (36) are repeatedly arranged in the article longitudinal direction or the article lateral direction. The outer sheet (22) is configured to be deformable so as to bulge toward a non-skin-facing surface side due to contraction of the elastic members (24) and form a plurality of folds (29) along the article longitudinal direction (X) or the article lateral direction (Y). The absorbent article (1) has holes penetrating the outer sheet (22) at positions in the folds (29) formed by the outer sheet (22), the positions overlapping the elastic members (24) in a thickness direction.

A disposable absorbent article of a brief or pull-up type incorporates a breathable laminate material composed of two layers. The laminate is an elastic material and may include non-elastic portions created by deactivating the material. The laminate material may be made breathable by the ultrasonic bonding process used to create the laminate. A third layer is adhered or bonded to the laminate and with leg elastics positioned between the laminate that the third layer. The absorbent article includes an absorbent assembly that overlaps with the non-elastic portions of the laminate.

To prevent or suppress the occurrence of tearing of an elastic film between stretchable regions in an elastic sheet stretchable structure. An elastic sheet stretchable structure is provided, in which an elastic film is laminated between a first sheet layer having air permeability and a second sheet layer having air permeability, and the first sheet layer and the second sheet layer are bonded at a large number of sheet bonded portions arranged at intervals. At the boundary between a first stretchable region and a second stretchable region, a separation distance Px in an elastic limit elongation state between a bonded portion located on a side of the boundary of the first stretchable region in a stretchable direction and a bonded portion located on a side of the boundary of the second stretchable region in a stretchable direction is 10 mm or less.

A stretchable structure of an absorbent article includes a stretchable region and a non-stretchable region. A laminate of a first sheet layer, second sheet layer, and elastic film between the first and second sheet layers extends over the stretchable and non-stretchable regions. The first and second sheet layers are bonded to each other at a large number of dot-like joints via through holes formed in the elastic film stretched along the surfaces of the first and second sheet layers in a stretchable direction. The dot-like joints are arrayed at intervals in the stretchable direction and a direction perpendicular to the stretchable direction. An end of the stretchable region adjacent to the non-stretchable region is a buffer stretchable section. The area rate of dot-like joints in the buffer stretchable section is larger than the area rate of dot-like joints in the main section not including the buffer stretchable section.
