Modular electrical therapy device
A therapeutic electrode component includes a base plate having a first side and a second side having a conductive surface. A repository having an internal volume to releasably retain a conductive fluid is disposed on the first side of the base plate. A rupturable membrane is disposed between the internal volume of the repository and the conductive surface of the base plate. A coupling is disposed on the base plate that is configured to detachably engage a gas charge, whereby the gas charge is detachable from the coupling without causing destruction of the gas charge, to provide a hermetic seal with an outlet of the gas charge, and to provide fluid communication between the internal volume of the repository and the outlet of gas charge when the gas charge is engaged by the coupling. A retainer is configured to detachably secure the gas charge to the base plate.
Reducing Electrosensation Whilst Treating A Subject Using Alternating Electric Fields
When treating a subject using alternating electric fields (e.g., using TTFields to treat a tumor), some subjects experience an electrosensation effect when the alternating electric field switches direction. This application describes a variety of approaches for reducing or eliminating this electrosensation. More specifically, during the course of treatment using alternating electric fields, additional electrical signals that reduce the subject's sensation are applied during each of a plurality of time intervals, and these additional electrical signals interact with the relevant nerve cells to reduce the sensations.
METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR APPLYING TUMOR TREATING FIELDS INTERFACING WITH HAIR FOLLICLES
A system and method for delivering TTFields are herein described. The system comprises an electric field generator generating a signal having a frequency from 50 kHz to 1 MHz and coupled to a lead. A pad is coupled to the lead and includes a solid continuous phase material and a conductive gel. The solid continuous phase material receives the signal from the lead, has a skin-facing surface, and is constructed of a conductive material or has a conductive material attached to, absorbed into, or adsorbed onto the solid continuous phase material. Pockets intersect the skin-facing surface, the pockets sized and dimensioned to receive a hair shaft. The conductive gel is attached to, absorbed into, or adsorbed onto the skin-facing surface and positioned within some of the pockets.
ELECTRICAL STIMULATION OF TISSUE
A method for stimulating a group of nerves, the method comprising: placing at least one electrode in contact with skin of a subject; applying an electrical signal to the subject through the at least one electrode, wherein the electrical signal comprises a series of pulses; and continuously randomly varying at least one of the following signal parameters: (i) a duration of each of the pulses, (ii) a time interval between each pair of pulses, and (iii) an energy value of each of the pulses, while maintaining a number of pulses per second of the electrical signal above a predetermined minimum number of pulses per second, and the energy value per pulse above a predetermined minimum energy value.
