EXTRACRANIAL IMPLANTABLE DEVICES, SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR THE TREATMENT OF NEUROLOGICAL DISORDERS
The present disclosure relates to methods, devices and systems used for the treatment of neurological disorders via stimulation of the superficial elements of the trigeminal nerve (“TNS”). More specifically, minimally invasive methods of stimulation of the superficial branches of the trigeminal nerve located extracranially in the face, namely the supraorbital, supratrochlear, infratrochlear, auriculotermporal, zygomaticotemporal, zygomaticoorbital, zygomaticofacial, nasal, infraorbital, and mentalis nerves (also referred to collectively as the superficial trigeminal nerve) are disclosed herein. Systems and devices configured for therapeutic stimulation of the branches of the trigeminal nerves, such as the superficial trigeminal nerve, and their methods of application are also described.
APPARATUS AND METHOD
An apparatus for providing electrostimulation of a biological tissue, the apparatus comprising: a first electrical signal provider for providing a first alternating electric field in the biological tissue, the first alternating electric field having a first frequency; a second electrical signal provider for providing a second alternating electric field in the biological tissue the second alternating electric field having a second frequency; wherein the first alternating electric field and the second alternating electric field provide a combined field in the biological tissue, and the apparatus comprises a controller configured to provide variations of at least one of the first frequency and the second frequency so that the combined field provides a pulsed interferential stimulation signal.
METHOD, SYSTEM AND APPARATUS FOR AUTOMATED TERMINATION OF A THERAPY FOR AN EPILEPTIC EVENT UPON A DETERMINATION OF EFFECTS OF A THERAPY
A method comprising detecting an epileptic event in a patient; applying an electrical therapy to a first target area in at least one of a brain region or a cranial nerve of said patient in response to said detecting; receiving a body signal responsive to the electrical therapy, wherein said body signal is selected from an autonomic signal, a neurologic signal, a metabolic signal, an endocrine signal, or a tissue stress marker signal; determining whether said body signal indicates that said electrical therapy has an efficacious effect; and terminating the application of said electrical therapy if the response indicates that the electrical therapy has an efficacious effect. An apparatus capable of performing the method. A non-transitive, computer-readable storage device for storing data that when executed by a processor, perform the method.
ELECTRICAL STIMULATION DEVICE AND ELECTRICAL STIMULATION SYSTEM
The present disclosure provides an electrical stimulation device. The electrical stimulation device includes a signal receiving circuit and a signal processing circuit. The signal receiving circuit receives and outputs a frequency signal. The signal processing circuit receives the frequency signal and provides an electrical stimulation signal according to the frequency signal.
ELECTRICAL STIMULATION DEVICE AND ELECTRICAL STIMULATION SYSTEM
An electrical stimulation device includes a signal receiving circuit, a rectifying circuit and a signal processing circuit. The signal receiving circuit receives and outputs a frequency signal. The rectifying circuit receives the frequency signal and rectifies the frequency signal to generate a rectifying signal. The signal processing circuit receives the rectifying signal to generate an electrical stimulation signal.
NEURO STIMULATOR ARRANGMENTS
A neuro stimulator adapter for a tissue removal device is disclosed. In certain arrangements, the adapter includes an engagement sleeve and a hub. The engagement sleeve is fixedly connected to a portion of the hub. In certain arrangements, the hub further has a contact assembly disposed therein, the contact assembly configured to be connected to an electrical source to deliver neurostimlation to the tissue removal device at a distal end thereof.
LEAD ORIENTATION DETERMINATION FOR ELECTRICAL STIMULATION THERAPY
A system includes memory configured to store image content representative of a lead implanted within a patient, and processing circuitry. The processing circuitry is configured to determine a reference point in the image content, determine a plane in the image content that corresponds to an orientation marker based on the reference point, determine an orientation of the lead based on the determined plane, and output information indicative of the determined orientation.
METHOD FOR INDUCING HIBERNATION-LIKE STATE AND DEVICE SAME
A method for inducing a hibernation-like state and a device for the same is described. The method is a chemical and physical method for reducing, in a subject, a theoretical set-point temperature of a body temperature and/or a feedback gain of heat production, or for inducing a hibernation-like state in the subject, the method including applying an excitatory stimulus to pyroglutamylated RFamide peptide (QRFP)-producing neurons. A device used to implement the method is also described.
Ferrule design for a brain computer interface module
A ferrule is configured to optically coupled to electronics for detect signals from a head of a user. The ferrule has optical properties to guide light between the electronics and a head of a user. The ferrule comprises a base portion having a cavity to enclose an optical element, a middle portion configured to guide light to or from the optical element, and a tip portion to interface with the head of the user.
UNIVERSAL LOW-PROFILE INTERCRANIAL ASSEMBLY
A universal low-profile intercranial assembly includes a mounting plate and a low profile intercranial device composed of a static cranial implant and an interdigitating functional neurosurgical implant. The low profile intercranial device is shaped and dimensioned for mounted to the mounting plate.
