Cardiac resynchronization therapy using accelerometer
11701517 · 2023-07-18 · ·

An implantable medical device includes a plurality of electrodes to detect electrical activity, a motion detector to detect mechanical activity, and a controller to determine at least one electromechanical interval based on at least one of electrical activity and mechanical activity. The activity detected may be in response to delivering a pacing pulse according to an atrioventricular (AV) pacing interval using the second electrode. The electromechanical interval may be used to adjust the AV pacing interval. The electromechanical interval may be used to determine whether cardiac therapy is acceptable or whether atrial or ventricular remodeling is successful.

CARDIAC DEFIBRILLATION

A cardiac defibrillation system that includes a pulse generator to generate therapeutic electrical pulses and at least one lead inserted through an intercostal space in the region of a cardiac notch of the left lung of a patient, the lead having a distal end configured to transmit the therapeutic electrical pulses generated by the pulse generator to defibrillate the heart of the patient.

MEDICAL DEVICE AND METHOD FOR MANAGING ADVERTISEMENT PERIOD

A method is provided for establishing a communication session with an implantable medical device (“IMD”). The method includes configuring an IMD and an external device to communicate with one another through a protocol that utilizes a dedicated advertisement channel. The advertisement period and the scan period of the protocol are independent of one another such that the advertisement and scan periods at least partially overlap intermittently after a number of cycles. When the external device detects one of the advertisement notices, the method includes establishing a communications link between the external device and the IMD.

Devices and methods for cardiac pacing and resynchronization

Devices and methods can be used for artificial cardiac pacing and/or resynchronization. For example, this document provides improved electrodes for stimulating and sensing electrical activity of the heart, and provides pacing and resynchronization systems incorporating such electrodes. While the devices and methods provided herein are described primarily in the context of pacing, it should be understood that resynchronization can additionally or alternatively be performed in an analogous manner, and that the scope of this disclosure includes such subject matter.

SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR REAL-TIME GUIDANCE OF AN ELECTROPHYSIOLOGY CATHETER FOR TARGETING A LOCATION OF ORIGIN OF AN ARRHYTHMIA

A system and method are provided for a navigational feedback to a catheter during an arrhythmia ablation procedure. A set of electrocardiogram (ECG) signals of a patient's arrhythmia is recorded that correspond to an unknown target location to be ablated by the catheter. During the ablation procedure, pacing locations and ECG signals corresponding to the pacing locations are collected to derive a mathematical operator that maps a 12-dimensional displacement vector in the ECG space to a 3-dimensional (3D) vector in a physical space. This 3D vector corresponds to a direction and a distance that the catheter needs to be moved in order to reach the target location of the arrhythmia.

Cardiac pacing device with mechanical mode switching

An implantable medical device includes an electrically conductive first housing, a conductive feedthrough extending through the first housing, electronic circuitry positioned within the first housing, a device electrode, and a second housing. The electronic circuitry is electrically coupled to the first housing and the feedthrough, and senses electrical signals of a patient and/or delivers electrical stimulation therapy to the patient via the first housing and the feedthrough. The device electrode is configured to electrically connect with tissue and/or a fluid at a target site in the patient. A lead connector is configured to connect to a proximal end of an implantable medical lead. The lead connector includes a first connector contact electrically coupled to the feedthrough and a second connector contact electrically coupled to the first housing.

Multi-threshold sensing of cardiac electrical signals in an implantable medical device

An implantable medical device system is configured to sense cardiac events in response to a cardiac electrical signal crossing a cardiac event sensing threshold. A control circuit is configured to determine a drop time interval based on a heart rate and control a sensing circuit to hold the cardiac event sensing threshold at a threshold value during the drop time interval.

Implantable medical device and method for determining his bundle pacing capture

An implantable medical device system receives a cardiac electrical signal produced by a patient's heart and comprising atrial P-waves and delivers a His bundle pacing pulse to the patient's heart via a His pacing electrode vector. The system determines a timing of a sensed atrial P-wave relative to the His bundle pacing pulse and determines a type of capture of the His bundle pacing pulse in response to the determined timing of the atrial P-wave.
