SURGICAL TOOL
20210169662 · 2021-06-10 ·

A surgical tool for separating two components, for example removing a femoral head from a femoral stem, having a four bar chain whose four bars are a first handle (L1), an crossover component (L2), a second handle (L3) and a crossbar (L4) pivotally connected respectively by: a first joint (J1) between the first handle and the crossover component; a second, crossover joint (J2) between the crossover component and the second handle; a third joint (J3) between the second handle and the crossbar, and a fourth joint (J4) between the crossbar and the first handle, and wherein, upon application of a gripping force to the first and second handles, the first and second jaws separate from one another so as to separate the two components engaged therewith.

INTERCONNECTED IMPLANTS AND METHODS

An apparatus, system, and method may be used to replace a natural or artificial articular surface of a joint, and to repair a bone that is associated with the joint. In some embodiments, the apparatus, system, and method may include a joint replacement prosthesis with a prosthetic articular surface, a support structure securable to the bone, and a first attachment interface. The system may also include a bone plate with a bone engagement surface securable to the bone on either side of a fracture formed in the bone, or a damaged area of the bone. The bone plate may include a second attachment interface that is attachable to the first attachment interface of the joint replacement prosthesis in order to couple the bone plate to the joint replacement prosthesis.

FEMORAL AND HUMERAL STEM GEOMETRY AND IMPLANTATION METHOD FOR ORTHOPEDIC JOINT RECONSTRUCTION
20210128310 · 2021-05-06 ·

The present inventions relate to devices and methods that improve the positioning and fit of orthopedic reconstructive joint replacement stem implants relative to existing methods. For example, an embodiment of the device provides a stem component comprising proximal and distal body portions that can be configured to mimic a geometric shape of a central cavity region created in a bone of a joint for improving conformance and fixation of the stem component thereto. Further, another embodiment provides a system of stem implants that each have a unique medial offset for facilitating the matching of an implant to the geometry of a central cavity region of a bone. Additionally, an inclination angle of a resection surface of each of the implants in the system can remain constant or vary as a function of the medial offset.

Hip or Shoulder Prosthesis and Placement Instruments

A hip/shoulder prosthesis includes: a head component; a metaphyseal component; a diaphyseal nail, and a locking device. The head component includes: a front face and rear face; with a bore, and first and second shaped recesses in the rear face. The metaphyseal component includes: a central transverse aperture at an angle to the metaphyseal component's axis; a first end configured for threaded engagement within the bore of the head component; and a longitudinal hole that begins at the second end, transects the transverse aperture and reaches the first end, to receive the locking device. The diaphyseal nail is inserted in the femoral or humeral canal, and includes: fastening apertures that receive corresponding screws for fastening the diaphyseal nail to the femur or humerus; a portion configured to he received within, and engage, the transverse aperture of the metaphyseal component, and a transverse hole configured to receive the locking device.

FEMORAL HEAD CENTRE OF ROTATION LOCATING DEVICE

The invention provides a femoral head centre of rotation locating device (10) comprising an adjustable frame (12) having a frame axis (X). The frame includes a central frame portion (14); a first jaw (16) that is linearly moveable relative to the central frame portion along the frame axis and having a first femoral head contacting surface (26); a second jaw (18) that is linearly moveable relative to the central frame portion along the frame axis and having a second femoral head contacting surface (28), and a gear wheel (32) mounted on the central frame portion. The gear wheel has a centric aperture (34) located substantially equidistant from the first and second femoral head contacting surfaces. The gear wheel is operably connected to each of the first and second moveable jaws by gear teeth (30) provided on a surface of each of the first and second moveable jaws. Linear movement of the first jaw in a first direction rotates the gear wheel to cause reciprocal linear movement of the second jaw to maintain the centric aperture at a position equidistant from the first and second femoral head contacting surfaces. This aligns the centric aperture with the native head centre of the femur as the first and second femoral head contacting surfaces come into contact with opposite surfaces of the femoral head.

HIP IMPLANT
20210137688 · 2021-05-13 ·

A hip implant for use in hip replacement surgical procedures. The hip implant comprises a femoral stem body designed for fixation in two planes, i.e. the AP plane and the lateral plane. The curvature of the implant is designed to mirror the geometry of the femur, thus providing for more contact points with the inner surface of the medullary cavity. The outer surface curvature cooperates with the inner surface associated with the medullary cavity. The hip implant is designed to provide increased or maximum contact with the interior of the bone, i.e. femur, while decreasing or minimizing stress risers or stress points, thus reducing the likelihood of patient pain and/or implant failure.

Hip joint prosthesis

A hip joint prosthesis is formed of a coil spring having a middle section bounded by first and second opposite ends, with one of the two ends configured as a femoral fixing end and the other of the two ends configured as an acetabular fixing end. A central axis of the coil spring extends between the two opposite ends, providing a freely movable, flexible central coil linking the two ends.

PATIENT SPECIFIC FEMORAL PROSTHESIS

A femoral prosthesis system for an orthopaedic hip implant and method of use is disclosed. The prosthesis system includes a femoral stem component that includes a core body and a casing that encases the core body. The casing can be additively manufactured such that the core body defines a predetermined orientation in the core body among a plurality of permissible predetermined orientations. The femoral stem component can further include a neck and a trunnion that extends from the neck. The neck can extend out with respect to the core body at a predetermined angle within a range of permissible predetermined angles.
