A method, electrical tissue stimulation system, and programmer for providing therapy to a patient are provided. Electrodes are placed adjacent tissue (e.g., spinal cord tissue) of the patient, electrical stimulation energy is delivered from the electrodes to the tissue in accordance with a defined waveform, and a pulse shape of the defined waveform is modified, thereby changing the characteristics of the electrical stimulation energy delivered from the electrode(s) to the tissue. The pulse shape may be modified by selecting one of a plurality of different pulse shape types or by adjusting a time constant of the pulse shape.

METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR CONTROLLING ELECTRICAL CONDITIONS OF TISSUE
20220354406 · 2022-11-10 ·

An implantable device for controlling electrical conditions of body tissue. A feedback sense electrode and a compensation electrode are positioned proximal to the tissue to make electrical contact with the tissue. A feedback amplifier is referenced to ground, and takes as an input a feedback signal from the feedback sense electrode. The output of the feedback amplifier is connected to the compensation electrode. The feedback amplifier thus drives the neural tissue via the compensation electrode in a feedback arrangement which seeks to drive the feedback signal to ground, or other desired electrical value.

The cochlear implant system comprises a microphone assembly including a microphone and a retention device configured to hold the microphone near an entrance to an ear canal of an ear of a recipient. The cochlear implant system further comprises an off-the-ear (OTE) sound processor that includes a housing configured to be worn off the ear of the recipient and further configured to physically attach to the microphone assembly so as to allow the microphone assembly to be worn off the ear when the microphone assembly is not being worn at the ear using the retention device. Corresponding systems and methods are also disclosed.

EVOKED SIGNAL BASED DEEP BRAIN STIMULATION (DBS) PROGRAMMING

A system includes memory and processing circuitry coupled to the memory and configured to determine a plurality of local field potential (LFP) measurements of an LFP, wherein the LFP is intrinsically generated by a signal source within a brain of a patient, determine one or more electrodes for delivering a therapeutic electrical stimulation signal based on the LFP measurements, control stimulation generation circuitry to deliver a plurality of electrical stimulation signals via the determined one or more electrodes, wherein the plurality of electrical stimulation signals each comprise at least one different therapy parameter, for respective ones of the plurality of electrical stimulation signals, determine respective evoked signals, wherein the respective evoked signals are evoked by delivery of the respective plurality of electrical stimulation signals, and determine at least one parameter for the therapeutic electrical stimulation signal based on the respective evoked signals.

Device and Implantation System for Electrical Stimulation of Biological Systems

The present specification discloses devices and methodologies for the treatment of transient lower esophageal sphincter relaxations (tLESRs). Individuals with tLESRs may be treated by implanting a stimulation device within the patient's lower esophageal sphincter and applying electrical stimulation to the patient's lower esophageal sphincter, in accordance with certain predefined protocols. The presently disclosed devices have a simplified design because they do not require sensing systems capable of sensing when a person is engaged in a wet swallow and have improved energy storage requirements.
