SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR OPTIMIZING TARGETED NEUROPLASTICITY
Systems and methods for optimizing targeted neuroplasticity training. Exemplary embodiments include a vagus nerve stimulator, a controller, and a monitoring device.
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR ENHANCING LEARNING RELATING TO A SOUND PATTERN
Systems and related methods for enhancing learning of a sound pattern or relating to a sound pattern are described. A sound output corresponding to the sound pattern is delivering to the subject, and a learning enhancing neural stimulus is delivered to a cranial nerve of the subject in association with the sound output. The neural stimulus may be, for example, a transcutaneous neural stimulus. In an aspect, the subject is prompted to mentally rehearse the sound pattern. Electrical control circuitry controls timing of delivery of sound outputs and neural stimuli. In some aspects, the system is implemented in connection with a personal computing device.
PROMPTING SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR ENHANCING LEARNING WITH NEURAL MODULATION
Systems and related methods for enhancing learning of an activity by a subject are described. A prompt for causing the subject to perform the activity is delivered repeatedly, in combination with a neural stimulus, with timing of delivery of prompts and neural stimuli controlled by electrical control circuitry. Neural stimuli are delivered with a transcutaneous neural stimulator located fitted in or on at least a portion of an ear of the subject. The system is implemented in connection with a personal computing device such as a smart phone or tablet computer.
NEURAL MODEL-BASED CONTROLLER
Described is a system for memory improvement intervention. Based on both real-time EEG data and a neural model, the system simulates replay of a person's specific memory during a sleep state. Using the neural model, a prediction of behavioral performance of the replay of the specific memory is generated. If the prediction is below a first threshold, then using a memory enhancement intervention system, the system applies an intervention during the sleep state to improve consolidation of the specific memory. If the prediction is below a second threshold, the system reduces the intervention performed using the memory enhancement intervention system.
METHODS AND SYSTEMS FOR NEURAL STIMULATION VIA AUDITORY STIMULATION
Systems and methods of the present disclosure are directed to systems and methods for treating cognitive dysfunction in a subject in need thereof. The system can include a neural stimulation system that receives an indication of an ambient audio signal detected by a microphone. The system selects, from a profile, an audio signal including a fixed parameter and a variable parameter. The system sets the variable parameter to a first value. The system generates an output signal based on the fixed parameter and the first value, and provides the output signal to the speaker. The system measures a physiological condition of the subject, adjusts the variable parameter to a second value, generates a second output signal based on the fixed parameter and the second value of the variable parameter, and provides the output signal to the speaker to cause the speaker to provide modified sound to the subject.
METHODS AND SYSTEMS FOR NEURAL STIMULATION VIA VISUAL STIMULATION
Systems and methods of the present disclosure are directed to systems and methods for treating cognitive dysfunction in a subject in need thereof. The system can include eyeglasses, a photodiode positioned to detect ambient light, light sources, and an input device. The system can include a neural stimulation system that retrieves a profile and selects a light pattern having a fixed parameter and a variable parameter. The neural stimulation system can set a value of the variable parameter of the light pattern, construct an output signal, and then provide the output signal to the light sources to direct light towards the fovea.
METHODS AND SYSTEMS FOR NEURAL STIMULATION VIA VISUAL, AUDITORY AND PERIPHERAL NERVE STIMULATIONS
Systems and methods of the present disclosure are directed to systems and methods for treating cognitive dysfunction in a subject in need thereof. The system can include a light source and a speaker. A visual neural stimulation system provides, via the light source, visual stimulation having a first value of a first parameter. An auditory neural stimulation system provides, via the speaker, audio stimulation having a second value of the second parameter. A stimuli orchestration component selects, for a first time interval, one of the visual stimulation or the audio stimulation to vary based on a policy, selects, for the first time interval, the other of the visual stimulation or the audio stimulation to keep constant based on the policy, and provides causes the one of the visual neural stimulation system or the auditory neural stimulation system to vary the one of the visual stimulation or the audio stimulation.
Methods, systems, and devices for pairing vagus nerve stimulation with motor therapy in stroke patients
A motor-deficit-therapeutic method (for treatment of a patient who has hemiparesis) includes: providing, to the patient afflicted with a hemiparesis, a neurostimulator configured to stimulate a vagus nerve of the patient using electrical, magnetic, optical, acoustic or mechanical stimulation; and initiating stimulation of the vagus nerve by the neurostimulator so that at least a portion of the stimulation occurs at least during performance by the patient of a motor therapy session which is hemiparesis-therapeutic, thereby improving the patient's hemiparesis.
METHODS FOR TREATING TINNITUS WITH VNS
A method (of treating a patient who has tinnitus) includes: providing to the patient a sound including at least a first frequency which is at least a half-octave outside a tinnitus frequency of the patient; and applying vagus nerve stimulation electrically to the patient in temporal proximity to the sound thereby reducing symptoms of the patient's tinnitus.
ANATOMICAL TARGETING OF NEUROMODULATION
A neuromodulation targeting system includes a GUI that facilitates selection of one or more neuromodulation target regions. The GUI provides an interactive display representing anatomy of a patient with user-selectable portions corresponding to a plurality of predefined anatomical regions associated with distinct localized clinical effects of neuromodulation. The system further includes a targeting selector engine that is responsive to user selection of a first portion of the interactive display by configuring delivery of neuromodulation therapy to a first target region to produce a first localized clinical effect in the patient at a location corresponding to the first portion of the display, upon administration of the neuromodulation therapy to the patient.
