Disclosed are an extendable pressurized-type hollow fiber membrane module which facilitates improvement of filtrate quality through a multistep-filtration, enhanced easiness of installation and maintenance, decrease of footprint, and/or enlargement of filtration apparatus (without causing decrease of permeate flux of a unit hollow fiber membrane), and a filtration apparatus manufactured using the same. The filtration apparatus of the present invention comprises first and second pressurized-type hollow fiber membrane modules, wherein an inlet port of the first pressurized-type hollow fiber membrane module for introducing feed water and an outlet port of the second pressurized-type hollow fiber membrane module for discharging filtrate or air are coupled to each other.

Modified forward osmosis membrane module for flow regime improvement

To provide a modified forward osmosis (FO) membrane module for flow regime improvement, the FO membrane module includes but not limited to: a water inlet; a water outlet; a forward osmosis (FO) membrane; a frame; and folded plates for improving flow regime in which draw solution is introduced into the water inlet of membrane module, then flowed through flow channels composed by three opposite folded plates vertically arranged on upper and bottom portions of the frame alternatively along horizontal direction with equal space; and drawn out from the water outlet. The flow regime improvement is achieved by increasing number of flow-guide folded plate, which results in the decrease of internal concentration polarization and membrane fouling. Structure of frame is modified to improve flow regime and to satisfy requirement of convenient and reliable connections between numbers of membrane modules in the FO membrane system.

The present invention provides a disposable ultra-filtration system comprising a disposable pipetting tip and a disposable ultra-filtration cartridge, wherein the cartridge includes a membrane filtration chamber and a dead-end channel. In use, a piston in the pipette pressurizes air within the channel; the pressurized air can subsequently move the piston and cause a reverse flow back through the membrane of the cartridge, unplugging the pores thereof. Also disclosed is an automated workstation incorporating the disposable ultra-filtration system, and a system comprising the automated workstation, useful for measuring the free therapeutic drug concentration and free hormone concentration in a sample.

DRAINLESS REVERSE OSMOSIS WATER PURIFICATION SYSTEM
20190112213 · 2019-04-18 · ·

A drainless reverse osmosis (RO) water purification system provides relatively pure water for on-demand dispensing, while recycling brine to a domestic hot water system. The drainless purification system includes a pre-filter catalyst cartridge for removing chlorine-based contaminants from a tap water supply upstream from an RO membrane. The catalyst is regularly refreshed by a high through-flow of water to a conventional cold water dispense faucet, thereby significantly prolonging the service life of the RO membrane. The RO membrane is incorporated into a multi-cartridge unit adapted for facilitated slide-out removal and replacement as needed. A control valve recycles brine from the RO membrane to the hot water system during pure water production, and recirculates tap water through the RO membrane when a pure water reservoir is substantially filled. The multi-cartridge unit may further include an air filtration system for providing a flow of filtered air.

DISPOSABLE FILTRATION DEVICE

A disposable filtration device includes a plurality of disposable filter capsules connected with each other by lines, which are carried by a rigid holder. At least the holder and the lines between the filter capsules preferably are formed of a sterilizable material, so that the filtration device can be sterilized in the pre-mounted, i.e. ready-to-connect condition, and can be packed and transported without a risk of damage.

Filtration System for Preparation of Fluids for Medical Applications

A treatment system for performing a treatment on a patient may include a treatment fluid preparation device having a pump connected by a fluid channel to a reservoir of a source fluid, the pump conveying the source fluid from the reservoir, through a filter, and combining the source fluid with a concentrate by pumping the source fluid with the concentrate to form a treatment fluid in a batch container. The treatment fluid preparation device may have a controller that controls a heater, the pump, and a memory. The controller starts the heater to warm the treatment fluid in the batch container at a time that is responsive to the treatment time stored in the memory. The controller also detects a pressure property of the filter to determine its integrity and outputs an indication of a failed batch if the pressure property indicates the integrity of the filter is insufficient.
