High-temperature, wear-resistant coating for a linerless engine block

A linerless engine block includes a polymer matrix composite having an internal surface that defines a bore. The polymer matrix composite has a first thermal conductivity at the internal surface of at least 5 W/m.Math.° C. The linerless engine block also includes a first bond coating disposed on the internal surface within the bore, and a second wear-resistant coating disposed on the first bond coating within the bore such that the second wear-resistant coating is adhered to the polymer matrix composite by the first bond coating. A method of forming the linerless engine block is also described.

Method and system for servicing a well
11162337 · 2021-11-02 · ·

A method and system for servicing a well. Servicing a well often includes running a service string into a production string, which may include a rod string. A service portion is provided in the production string during completion. The service portion is located at or uphole of a large rod string feature. The service portion has a greater inside diameter than production tubing and other standard production string components. The service portion provides sufficient clearance for the service string alongside the large feature. The large feature may be, for example, a PCP stator, a centralizer, or a rod collar. The large feature may be pulled uphole into the service portion prior to running in the service string, allowing servicing downhole of the large feature without pulling the entire rod string. The service portion may also mitigate rod wear in deviated or other portions of the well.

Method and system for treating a surface

A method of applying a treatment to a surface of an open body having a volume within an interior of the open body comprises; providing an inner structure (110) shaped to complement the shape of the interior of the open body and to fill a major portion of the volume or a major portion of a width of the interior of the open body; positioning the inner structure (110) within the open body in order to form a treatment fluid inner volume comprising an inner space (150) confronting an inner surface within the interior of the open body; and introducing a treatment fluid into the treatment fluid inner volume to thereby modify the inner surface of the open body by applying the treatment using the treatment fluid. Optionally, the method includes providing a tank (120) shaped to complement and contain the open body; positioning the open body within the tank (120) in order to form a treatment fluid outer volume comprising an outer space confronting the outer surface of the open body; and introducing the treatment fluid into the treatment fluid outer volume to thereby modify the outer surface of the open body by applying the treatment using the treatment fluid.

SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR INSIDE OF CAN CURING

An improved inside of can curing technology is provided. One implementation uses narrowband, semiconductor produced infrared energy which is focused into the inside of the can to affect a very high-speed curing result and will directly impact the coating covering the inside walls of the can to rapidly cure the coating. Detempering and annealing of the aluminum can body does not have time to occur, thus leaving a stronger can with the same amount of aluminum or a can of the same strength but with less aluminum. It is also possible to eliminate the natural gas fueled oven that is the current standard and replace it with a completely hydrocarbon-free curing alternative that has superior performance. This high powered radiant, narrowband energy will be digitally controlled to introduce only the needed heat and to not overheat the can.
