TOOL HEAD AND METHOD FOR INSERTING AND CLAMPING A CUTTING INSERT, AND CUTTING INSERT
The invention relates to a tool head for a woodworking machine, having a cylindrical, conical or profiled main part, which has at least two tool-receiving portions evenly distributed across its circumference for holding the cutting insert. The tool-receiving portions each have grooves tapering in the radial direction, in which one cutting insert per groove is clamped between a first side wall of the groove and a closing element. A first interlocking connection is provided between the cutting insert and the first side wall. In addition, a centrifugal wedge is arranged between the closing element and a second side wall situated opposite the first side wall of the groove. According to the invention, a second interlocking connection is provided between the closing element and the centrifugal wedge. This permits radial insertion of a cutting insert.
Shaper cutter heads and router bits with indexing feature
An apparatus (1300), including: a shaper cutter head (1308) having: a body (1312); a bore (1314) through the body; and a cutter 1310) secured to the body. Along a longitudinal axis (1306), the cutter has: a miter profile, a groove profile and a tongue profile for cutting a miter. The body has a portion (1352) comprising a recess (1320) disposed between the miter profile of the cutter and an end of the body. The recess defines a flat indexing surface (1326) protruding radially outwards from a portion of the body. When the shaper cutter head is rotated about the longitudinal axis, the body defines a body sweep (1360). The flat indexing surface is recessed from the body sweep.

WOOD CUTTING TOOL AND AN ARRANGEMENT FOR USING SAID TOOL
Disclosed is a cutting tool mounted on a shaft rotating about an axis, including a body having first cutting inserts mounted with equal spacing at the outer periphery of the body, which first cutting inserts have a cutting edge extending across the width of the body at a predetermined peripheral radius from the axis; and second cutting inserts mounted with equal spacing adjacent the outer periphery on a first side surface of the body, which second cutting inserts have a cutting edge extending in an axial plane perpendicular to the axis. The cutting edge of each first insert extends up to a predetermined distance from the axial plane of the second inserts; and the cutting edge of each second insert preceding a first insert extends a predetermined radial distance outside the peripheral radius of the cutting edges of the first inserts. Also disclosed is a related apparatus.

Contour rake face cutting tool
A contoured rake face cutting tool and method of making is disclosed. A rotary cutting tool with a plurality of teeth can cause damage to a work piece during cutting. By orienting the cutting angle of the teeth relative to the rotational central axis to high shear angle such as 50 or 70 degrees, the tool creates a high compression cut which is cleaner and less damaging to the work piece. The cutting surface itself is profiled, i.e. non-planar, such as concave or convex or other non planar shape, which is preferably formed into an ultra-hard material which is supplied for use in a planar form.
