Powder based balancing layer
A method of manufacturing a building panel with a decorative surface layer, a core and a balancing and/or protective layer, wherein the method includes applying a first layer of a first powder based mix, including wood fibers and a thermosetting binder, on a core; applying a liquid substance on the first powder based mix; drying the first powder based mix; turning the core with the dried first powder based mix such that the first powder based mix points downwards; applying a second layer on the upper part of the core; and curing the first and second layers by providing heat and pressure, wherein the first layer forms the balancing and/or protective layer and the second layer forms the decorative surface layer in the building panel.
PROCESS FOR PARTIAL DELIGNIFICATION AND FILLING OF A LIGNOCELLULOSIC MATERIAL, AND COMPOSITE MATERIAL STRUCTURE ABLE TO BE OBTAINED BY THIS PROCESS
The invention relates to a process for treating a lignocellulosic material, preferably wood, comprising the following steps: (1) soaking of the material with organic fluid in order to dissolve at least 40% and at most 85%, in weight %, of the lignin of the material; (2) washing with organic fluid so as to discharge the dissolved lignin; (3) filling with a filling compound; and (4) finishing, so as to obtain a composite formed of a three-dimensional network of transformed filling compound incorporated into a cellulose and lignin network. The invention also relates to a composite structure able to be obtained in this way, and to any part comprising at least one such structure.
Fire-retardant oriented strand board (OSB)
A two-part flame-retardant, a flame-retardant oriented strand (OSB) and method for forming a flame-retardant OSB is provided. The two-part flame-retardant composition includes an aqueous solution containing a water-soluble flame-retardant and a flame-retardant powder that is incorporated into an oriented strand board without substantially affecting the mechanical properties of the oriented strand board. The method includes applying the aqueous solution containing a water-soluble flame-retardant to an oriented strand board furnish and applying a flame-retardant powder to the wetted furnish, without requiring an additional drying step.
METHOD AND DEVICE FOR PRODUCING PRODUCTS BY USING LIGNOCELLULOSE-CONTAINING PARTICLES
The invention relates to a method and devices for producing products (65) by using cellulose-containing particles, with which the following steps are carried out: a) irradiating the particles with electrons in the energy range >1 MeV: b) mixing the irradiated particles with electron-beam-reactive powder of a synthetic polymer, in particular a thermoplastic, having powder particle sizes <2000 micrometres and/or with a liquid electron-beam-reactive synthetic or bio-based polymer; c) forming the mixture created in a way corresponding to the form of the product to be produced, in particular forming it into a nonwoven (56): d) heating the formed mixture to 100-180? C.; e) pressing the formed mixture without heating; and f) irradiating the pressed mixture with electrons in the energy range of 1 MeV to 10 Me V and also with appropriately chosen dosages and dosing rates.
METHOD TO PRODUCE FACTORY-FINISHED WOOD PANELS
A system and process for producing a factory-finished engineered wood-based siding, cladding or panel (e.g., manufactured with wood veneer, strands or fibers). An overlay with a finish coating, not a primer coating, is applied to the engineered wood strand mat prior to applying heat and pressure in a press. The post-press product is cut to form panels, with an edge coating applied to color match the finish coating. The factory-finished product avoids the need to apply a final finish coating of paint on the panel face at the job site after installation, or at a separate, secondary facility post-press.
Process for Preparing a Flame Retardant and/or Strengthened Fiberboard
In a process for the production of a flame retardant and/or strengthened fiberboard, a tailored fiberboard is charged on a processing device at first. Subsequently, a flame retardant and/or strengthening agent is applied to the top side of the fiberboard. The agent applied is sucked or pressed into the fiberboard. This is achieved by generating a pressure difference between the top side and bottom side of the fiberboard.
Heat insulation material based on aerogel
A heat insulation material is provided that is produced by drying a fibrous matrix impregnated with a solution of pseudo-peptides of formula (I), wherein: R is a side-chain of a natural or synthetic amino acid, R1 is either a linear or branched (C.sub.1-C.sub.3)alkyl group, or a linear or branched (C.sub.1-C.sub.3)alcoxy group, or an aryl group, or an aryl(C.sub.1-C.sub.3)alkyl group, or an aryloxy group, or a saturated or unsaturated heterocycle, n=1 or 2, and A is an aromatic or heteroaromatic group with at least one cycle.
Methods and systems for impregnating wood with a polymer solution and products thereof
The present disclosure relates, according to some embodiments, to methods and systems for impregnating wood with a polymer solution and products thereof. In some embodiments, the present disclosure relates to a method of processing a wood piece to generate a wood product, the method comprising: (a) placing the wood piece into a reactor having a chamber pressure of a vacuum environment; (b) exposing the wood piece to a polymer solution; (c) performing an iterative process where each cycle of the iterative process comprises a pressurizing period during which the chamber pressure is increased to an increased chamber pressure and a stabilizing period during which the chamber pressure is monitored to measure a chamber pressure decrease, if any; (d) when the decrease of chamber pressure during the stabilizing period is less than or equal to the certain threshold change, normalizing the reactor chamber to a normalized pressure; and (e) setting the wood piece to generate the wood product. The present disclosure further relates to a wood product generated by a method of processing a wood piece.
