ALDEHYDE TREATMENT OF LUMBER
A wood treatment method for reducing fungal growth utilizes a treatment solution comprising an aldehyde, a carrier solvent, an organic co-solvent, at least one surfactant, and at least one acid, base, or salt. In embodiments, the carrier solvent may comprise water and the organic co-solvent may comprise an alcohol or acetone. The aldehyde is impregnated into the wood, where it reacts with thiamine and other amino acids to promote cross-linking, reducing the porosity of the wood and thereby reducing the ability of various microbes and fungi to access the interior of the wood as a nutrient source.
Cross-laminated timber panel having a conduit therein and attachable fitting
A fitting attachable to a cross-laminated panel provides a chase, plumbing space, airflow duct, or wiring route on an edge of the cross-laminated panel. The fitting may run between edges of multiple cross-laminated panels that contain integral hollow members, forming a customizable network of contiguous coplanar routing paths, accessible without installing pipes and wires behind, or in front of the cross-laminated panels. The fitting may also provide a vertical chase for single or multiple cross-laminated panels. The fitting takes advantage of one or more hollow members in the cross-laminated panels to provide contiguous routing paths for wires, pipes, and venting within the cross-laminated panels themselves, extending across any layout of multiple cross-laminated panels. The fitting may additionally serve as mechanical support for attachment of adjacent panels. Further, the fitting may provide structural connection for the CLT panels as required to meet structural code requirements for the building.
Wood treatment device for the pressure-free treatment of wood and a pressure-free method for treating wood
The present invention relates to a wood treatment device (1) for treating wood, and to a method for treating wood. Said wood treatment device (1) comprises a cylindrical hollow body (2) having inner end which is inside the wood when in use, and an outer end facing away from the inner end and at least one outlet opening (4). The cylindrical hollow body (2) comprises a receiving space (20′) which is designed to receive a carrier material (20) containing a wood treatment agent. Said wood treatment device (1) also comprises a thrust pin (10) which extends along the longitudinal axis of the cylindrical hollow body (2), and which can be moved outside of the cylindrical hollow body (2) on the outer end. Said thrust pin (10) comprises at least one closure section (11, 12) which closes at least one outlet opening when the wood treatment device (1) is not in use, and when the wood treatment device (1) is in use, the at least one outlet opening is released after moving and the receiving chamber is brought into contact with the wood.
Wood preservative and method for producing same
A synergistic aqueous wood preservative composition comprising a copper compound and penflufen. The copper compounds of the compositions of the invention may be soluble, partially solubilized or micronized particles. The penflufen of the compositions of the invention may be solubilized, emulsified or particulate. The wood preservative compositions of the present invention are surprisingly provided as stable dispersions and confer surprising and unexpected resistance to treated wood and wood products.
TREATED POROUS MATERIAL
A method for preparing a treated cellulosic material comprising: providing a cellulosic material; a treatment protocol comprising impregnating the cellulosic material with an aqueous dispersion comprising a polybutene and a stabilizing agent.
TREATED POROUS MATERIAL
A method for preparing a treated cellulosic material comprising: providing a cellulosic material; a first treatment protocol comprising impregnating the cellulosic material with an aqueous solution comprising a polymer, the polymer comprising a water-soluble polyetheramine; and a second treatment protocol comprising impregnating the cellulosic material with a modifying agent, the modifying agent comprising an aqueous dispersion comprising an epoxy-containing resin.
METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR PRODUCING AN ENGINEERED WOOD
The present invention relates to a method for producing an engineered wood, comprising the steps of: (a) breaking down a veneer to increase its porosity; (b) impregnating the veneer from step (a) with an adhesive material; (c) drying the veneer from step (b) to a predetermined moisture content level; (d) arranging a plurality of the veneers from step (c) in a mould; and (e) pressing the plurality of the veneers in the mould. The engineered wood has an appearance of natural timber, and is able to withstand extreme weather conditions and have minimum warping, rotting and termite infestation.
Method for liquid treatment of a wood species
The present invention relates to an improved method for impregnating a porous material, such as wood, more specifically a method in which an active ingredient to be deposited within the porous material is dissolved in condensed carbon dioxide and impregnated in the material.
PRESERVATIVE COMPOSITION FOR WOOD BASED ON MODIFIED LIGNIN
A method for preparing a wood preservative composition, includes modifying lignin with Na.sub.2B.sub.4O.sub.7 or NaNO.sub.3 and then with a chromium (II) salt, copper (II), cadmium (II) or zinc (II), for example, metal nitrates (Cr(NO.sub.3).sub.2, Cu(NO.sub.3).sub.2, Cd(NO.sub.3).sub.2, Zn(NO.sub.3).sub.2); to the preservative obtainable by this method; and to a method for preserving wood; and to the preserved wood. The preservative prevents degradation by xylophagous and fungal agents, and also improves some properties of the wood, and the hygroscopicity and fire resistance.
Cross-laminated timber having a conduit therein
A cross-laminated panel including a first layer, a second layer, and a third layer. The first layer of the cross-laminated panel having first boards oriented in a first direction. The second layer of the cross-laminated panel having second boards oriented in a second direction, the second direction being substantially perpendicular to the first direction. The third layer of the cross-laminated panel having third boards oriented in the first direction. The cross-laminated panel also including adhesive situated between each of the first layer, the second layer, and the third layer. The cross-laminated panel further including a hollow member forming a conduit and disposed in any one of the first layer, the second layer, and the third layer.
