Vehicle trim component

A vehicle trim component is disclosed. The vehicle trim component may be prepared by a process comprising heating and placing a fiber panel into a mold cavity, compressing the fiber panel in the mold cavity to form a compression formed component providing a structural substrate having a thickness along an edge and injecting resin into the mold cavity with the structural substrate. A border may be formed along the thickness of the structural substrate by the injected resin; the border may provide dimensional accuracy at the edge of the structural substrate notwithstanding variations in the fiber panel. A resin feature (such as a part, component, connector, reinforcing element, weakened zone, shape, etc.) may be formed in or on the structural substrate by the injected resin (e.g. in a gap or void). The resin feature may comprise a rib to extend across an interface between the structural substrate and the border.

Method of recycling carbon fiber prepreg waste and transparent thermoplastic waste

The method of recycling carbon fiber prepreg waste and transparent thermoplastic waste includes shredding of a volume of transparent thermoplastic waste and a volume of carbon fiber prepreg waste, where the carbon fiber prepreg waste includes a colored backing film. The colored backing film may have a plurality of colors associated therewith, yielding a mixture of multi-colored shreds. A mold is filled with the shredded volume of transparent thermoplastic waste, and the mold is inserted and compressed in a hot press. The shredded volume of transparent thermoplastic waste is cured in the hot press to produce a transparent sheet. The shredded volume of carbon fiber prepreg waste is then heated, such as, for example, with hot air, and then spread on the transparent sheet. The heated, shredded volume of carbon fiber prepreg waste and the transparent sheet are hot pressed to form a colored sheet with a transparent protective layer.

A method of manufacturing an article by injection moulding is disclosed, the method comprising injection moulding an article from a polymer resin, wherein the polymer resin comprises different types of recycled polymer and a compatibilizer comprising inorganic particulate material and a surface treatment agent on a surface of the inorganic particulate material, and wherein the polymer resin has a MFI @ 2.16 kg/190 C. of equal to or greater than 3.0 g/10 min. Further disclosed is the use of a compatibilizer in an article or in a polymer resin, a polymer resin suitable for use in the manufacture of an article therefrom by injection moulding, and an article so produced.

METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR PRODUCING AN ARTICLE BY LAYER-BY-LAYER BUILDUP IN A STAMPING PROCESS

A method for producing an article in which a layer with a radically cross-linkable resin is selectively crosslinked at least partially. This takes place according to a selected cross section of the article to be formed by means of selective application of a radical initiator. The at least partially crosslinked material is added on layer by layer to a carrier or to previous layers bonded to the carrier. A system that is suitable for carrying out the method according to the invention has a substrate, a control unit, an application unit for applying the resin to the substrate, an application unit for applying an initiator to the resin, an energy exposure unit and a contacting unit.

Method and reprocessing installation for reprocessing film waste material
11986977 · 2024-05-21 · ·

In a method for reprocessing film waste material, the film waste material is comminuted into recycling material by means of a comminuting device. The recycling material is fed by means of a feeding device in a multi-shaft screw machine. In the multi-shaft screw machine, the recycling material is plasticized into a material melt and processed into raw material. The raw material may again be fed to a production installation for the production of films.

Extruder and method for producing high fiber density resin structures

An extruder (1) and a method for producing high-fiber volume reinforced thermoplastic resin structures (50), as well as a tape (156) having opposing resin rich portions (302) and a fiber rich portion (304) disposed therebetween and a method for impregnating at least one fiber roving (142) with a polymer resin to form a tape (156.
