A trailer lighting activation system includes a vehicle light sensor, an ambient light sensor, and a microcontroller. The vehicle light sensor is removably attached to a towing vehicle light to detect a light output of the towing vehicle light, and to provide a vehicle light sensor output signal in response to the light output of the towing vehicle light. The ambient light sensor can detect an ambient light level and provide an output signal in response to the ambient light level. An output of a DC/DC converter is coupled to the power supply terminal VDD of the array-type light-emitting device via an output terminal. A feedback circuit generates a feedback voltage based on the correction voltage and the control target voltage that corresponds to the output voltage of the DC/DC converter, and supplies the feedback voltage to a feedback pin of a converter controller.

An adapter for use with components of a truck trailer. The adapter may include multiple input terminals corresponding with multiple terminals of a trailer component socket of a trailer, and multiple output terminals configured to electrically connect with corresponding input terminals of a trailer component. The adapter may also include an adapter circuit configured to electrically connect at least four of the input terminals with at least four of the multiple output terminals. The multiple output terminals may include at least two mode selection output terminals configured to provide a mode selection to the trailer component, and the trailer component optionally includes control logic configured to activate and deactivate the trailer component according to the mode selection.

Error detection system and method in a vehicle lighting system

A vehicular error detection system is provided, comprising: a plurality of light circuits in a vehicle, each light circuit including a light and being associated with a corresponding unique identifier; a system controller located in the vehicle and configured to control operation of the light circuits; a plurality of wires connecting the light circuits to the system controller such that at least one wire is attached to each of the plurality of light circuits; a plurality of lighting error detectors each configured to detect a malfunctioning light from among corresponding lights in the light circuits, and configured to transmit an error message to the system controller when the malfunctioning light is detected, wherein each of the lighting error detectors transmits an error message to the system controller when the lighting error detector detects the malfunctioning light, and the error message includes the corresponding unique identifier of the malfunctioning light.

There is provided a rear sign lamp capable of enhancing safety. An LED string (502) includes four LEDs (504_1 to 504_4) connected in series. An LED driver circuit (610) receives a battery voltage (V.sub.IN) and supplies a drive current (I.sub.LED) stabilized at a target current (I.sub.REF) to the LED string (502). A bypass circuit (620) is provided in parallel with a bypassed portion (503) including two adjacent LEDs (504_3 and 504_4) of the LED string (502), and sinks a bypass current (I.sub.BYPASS) according to a battery voltage (V.sub.IN).
