Providing access to vehicle videos

Systems and methods for providing access to vehicle videos are provided. An example system may include a plurality of cameras and an electronic device associated with a vehicle. The electronic device can continuously record a plurality of videos captured by the plurality of cameras, periodically generate, based on the plurality of videos, snapshot images including image metadata, and upload the snapshot images to a remote computing system. The remote computing system can render the snapshot images for view and selection by a user and receive, from the user, a selection of a snapshot image of the snapshot images. In response to the user selection, the remote computing system can select, based on the image metadata associated with the selected snapshot image, a video from the plurality of videos and play back a portion of the video stored on the electronic device.

The invention also relates to a rearview device with an actuator device according to the invention.

Vehicular control system with temperature input
10744940 · 2020-08-18 · ·

A vehicular control system includes a camera, a controller having a processor that processes captured image data, and an exterior temperature sensor. Responsive, at least in part, to a temperature input from the temperature sensor, the controller switches processing of captured image data between (a) a normal processing mode and (b) a cold weather processing mode. Responsive to the temperature input being indicative of the exterior temperature being below a first threshold temperature, the controller processes captured image data in the cold weather processing mode to enhance blockage detection of frost or snow or ice at the camera. When the controller is operating in the cold weather processing mode, the controller switches processing of captured image data to the normal processing mode responsive to the temperature input being indicative of the exterior temperature being above a second threshold temperature that is greater than the first threshold temperature.

Light emitting device, optical module comprising same device, and vehicle comprising same module

A light emitting device of an embodiment includes at least one light source; a wavelength conversion unit for converting the wavelength of excitation light so as to emit the excitation light having the converted wavelength as conversion light; a light transfer unit disposed on a light path between the at least one light source and the wavelength conversion unit for transferring the excitation light to the wavelength conversion unit; and a light-path controller moving at least a part of the light transfer unit so as to adjust at least one from among the direction and intensity of excitation light which enters the wavelength conversion unit.

Vehicle camera LVDS repeater

A vision system of a vehicle includes a camera disposed at a vehicle and having a field of view exterior of the vehicle. The camera captures image data and outputs a low voltage differential signal (LVDS). The system includes an LVDS repeater that receives the LVDS signal output by the camera and outputs at least two LVDS outputs to respective receivers. Each of the at least two LVDS outputs is representative of the LVDS signal output by the camera. The receivers include a receiver of respective ones of at least two devices selected from the group consisting of (i) a vehicle head unit, (ii) a display device, (iii) an electronic control unit of the vehicle and (iv) an image processor for a driver assistance function.

A method for operating a control unit including a start-up of the control unit in order to bring it into an operative state, and a first start sequence is optionally carried out during the start-up of the control unit in order to set the control unit to a first mode, or a second start sequence is carried out in order to set the control unit to a second mode, the first start sequence including an additional self-test in contrast to the second start sequence.

Dynamic Distance Estimation Output Generation Based on Monocular Video

Aspects of the disclosure relate to a dynamic distance estimation output platform that utilizes improved computer vision and perspective transformation techniques to determine vehicle proximities from video footage. A computing platform may receive, from a visible light camera located in a first vehicle, a video output showing a second vehicle that is in front of the first vehicle. The computing platform may determine a longitudinal distance between the first vehicle and the second vehicle by determining an orthogonal distance between a center-of-projection corresponding to the visible light camera, and an intersection of a backside plane of the second vehicle and ground below the second vehicle. The computing platform may send, to an autonomous vehicle control system, a distance estimation output corresponding to the longitudinal distance, which may cause the autonomous vehicle control system to perform vehicle control actions.
