METHODS FOR MANUFACTURING CAPSULES WITH INGESTIBLE EVENT MARKERS

Various methods and apparatuses are presented for an ingestible capsule that includes a digital, ingestible sensor component—or ingestible sensor—embedded into the capsule. The ingestible sensor component may be configured to activate upon coming into contact with conductive fluid, such as a body's stomach fluid. Once activated, the ingestible sensor component may be configured to perform various tasks, such as transmitting one or more signals and obtaining biometric data about the body that ingested the capsule.

DETECTING AND CORRECTING FOR CHANGES TO AN ANALYTE INDICATOR

A sensor, system, and method for detecting and correcting for changes to an analyte indicator of an analyte sensor. The analyte indicator may be configured to exhibit a first detectable property that varies in accordance with an analyte concentration and an extent to which the analyte indicator has degraded. The analyte sensor may also include a degradation indicator configured to exhibit a second detectable property that varies in accordance with an extent to which the degradation indicator has degraded. The analyte sensor may generate (i) an analyte measurement based on the first detectable property exhibited by the analyte indicator and (ii) a degradation measurement based on the second detectable property exhibited by the degradation indicator. The analyte sensor may be part of a system that also includes a transceiver. The transceiver may use the analyte and degradation measurements to calculate an analyte level.

CATHETER FOR IMAGING AND MEASUREMENT OF PRESSURE AND OTHER PHYSIOLOGICAL PARAMETERS

A catheter system includes an elongated tube structure configured for insertion into a luminal space, such as the vasculature, of a body. The catheter is conductive and configured to conduct electrical signals. The catheter includes one or more power and data coupling devices configured to send and receive power and/or data signals, such as from an underlying guidewire disposed within a lumen of the catheter. One or more sensors are coupled to a distal section of the catheter and are electrically connected to the one or more power and data coupling devices.

A gastrointestinal treatment system including a gastrointestinal capsule adapted to treat a subject following ingestion of the gastrointestinal capsule. The gastrointestinal capsule includes: (a) a housing; (b) a vibrating agitator, powered by the battery, the vibrating agitator adapted such that, in a first vibrating mode of operation, the housing exerts vibrations on an environment surrounding the capsule; (c) a power supply disposed within the housing and adapted to power the vibrating agitator; and (d) a controller adapted, in response to receipt of an activation input, to activate the vibrating agitator to operate in the first vibrating mode of operation at at least one predetermined time of day. The system and method may be used to treat an ailment of the gastrointestinal tract and/or to mitigate at least one symptom of jetlag in a subject travelling from an origin location to a destination location.

ADHESION DETECTION FOR A MEDICAL PATCH

A patch configured for being applied to a patients skin, said patch comprising a contact area configured for being in direct contact with the patients skin when applied thereto, and a detector configured for detecting contact between the contact area and the patients skin.

Sampling device for drug development and diagnosis of gastric-intestinal diseases

An ingestible electronic capsule for the collection of samples along a gastric intestinal tract and methods relating thereto are provided. The ingestible electronic capsule includes a housing and a cap that form an interior chamber. The cap includes a sampling port and one or more sample collection chambers are disposed within the interior chamber. A motor is also disposed within the interior chamber and is configured to rotate one of the cap and the one or more sample collection chambers so to align one or the one or more sample collection chambers and the sampling port of the cap so to allow for sample collection. A microcontroller is also disposed within the interior chamber and is in communication with at least the motor. The microcontroller is configured to control the selective alignment of the sampling port and one of the one or more sample collection chambers and induce gastric intestinal fluid sampling.

Recognition of implantable medical device

Introduced here is a digital pill comprised of a capsule, an ingestible sensor, and a slot antenna. The ingestible sensor can be configured to generate a signal indicative of a characteristic of the living body in which the digital pill is located. Biometric data can be stored, at least temporarily, in a memory in the form of signal values. For example, the slot antenna may transmit biometric data to a computing device across a network on a periodic basis (e.g., every 5 minutes, 15 minutes, 60 minutes, etc.). Alternatively, the slot antenna may stream biometric data to a computing device across the network in real time.
