Detection of dynamic train-to-rail shunting performance
09956972 · 2018-05-01 · ·

Systems and methods for detecting the dynamic train-to-rail shunting performance of a train as it is moving along the rails of a railroad track. The systems and methods use portable equipment temporarily installed at a site where it is desired to test the shunting of one or more trains or the electrical equipment installed at the track. The systems and method use sensor plates and a high speed recording system to simultaneously capture measured train-to-rail shunting characteristics and the positioning of a train's axles and any rail conditions impacting the measurements. The captured information can be used to fine tune the train, the electrical equipment installed at the track and/or to design new devices.

20180111632 · 2018-04-26 ·

A magnetically clampable rail shunt (1) comprising two magnetic clamps (10), each clamp having a magnetic device for attaching the clamp to one of two parallel railway rails (R1, R2) of a railway track by magnetic force, and an electrical conductor (20) electrically connecting the two magnetic clamps (10) for shunting the two parallel railway rails. The rail shunt (1) is characterised by a variable electrical resistor assembly (30) for adjusting the electrical resistance of the rail shunt (1), said variable electrical resistor assembly (30) being connected in series between the two magnetic clamps (10) via said electrical conductor (20). Preferred application to testing of track circuits.

Method and Apparatus for the Accurate Linear Speed Measurement of Trains

The calculation of the speed of a moving train is critical to being able to capture high speed resolution images of the undercarriage of a moving train using a camera in an associated application. The measurement must be extremely accurate and in real time so that an appropriately placed camera can capture images and transmit those images to a remote location.

Circuit arrangement for revealing light signal errors
09656681 · 2017-05-23 · ·

A circuit arrangement for revealing light signal errors, in particular for railway safety systems, includes an electronic signal generator, which can be disconnected in a reversible manner in the event of an error, and a control part, configured for incandescent lamps, for controlling and monitoring the signal generator. The device for revealing errors includes an error differentiator between the line-related interference voltage and error of the signal generator. The reliability of the error differentiation is improved and rendered independent of capacitive intermediate energy storage devices, in that the signal generator is connected to a resistance arrangement such that the signal generator voltage is greater, in high-resistance signal generators, than an interference voltage.
