The stapling system comprises a housing, a shaft extending from the housing, and an end effector extending from the shaft. The end effector comprises a plurality of staples removably stored therein and, also, an anvil configured to deform the staples. The stapling system further comprises a firing mechanism configured to deploy the staples along a staple firing path longer than 60 mm, a camera configured to capture an image of the patient tissue, a display, and a controller configured to generate an image of the staple firing path, wherein the images are displayed on the display.

Bone marrow aspirate collection system
11576658 · 2023-02-14 ·

A system and method for collecting bone marrow includes a trocar component having an upper handle and an elongate shaft depending from the handle, the shaft having a sharp cutting edge at a lower tip thereof. An introducer component includes a lower handle having an inlet formed therethrough and an introducer cannula communicably connected to the inlet and depending from the lower handle. The introducer cannula has an open distal end. The harvesting component includes a support hub having an aspiration port and a harvesting cannula communicably connected to the aspiration port and depending from the support hub. The trocar and introducer components are introduced into the bone marrow and the trocar component is replaced by the harvesting component. The introducer cannula is withdrawn and interengaged with the support hub of the harvesting component and the assembly is manipulated to drive a blunt end of the harvesting component through the bone marrow without causing undue damage to the bone marrow and constituent cells. Bone marrow is aspirated through fenestrated openings in the side wall of the harvesting cannula.

Opthalmic microsurgical instrument
11576816 · 2023-02-14 ·

In some embodiments, a microsurgical instrument includes a trocar having a rigid, hollow shaft formed with a lumen extending from a proximal end to a distal end of the shaft. The distal end of the shaft may be shaped for tissue penetration. The instrument may further include a composite microcannula slidably engaged with the trocar in the lumen. The microcannula includes a light guide and a flexible hollow tube having an outer diameter less than an inner diameter of the lumen in the trocar. Other embodiments include placing the microcannula in the lumen of the trocar, illuminating the end of the trocar by illuminating the end of the microcannula, advancing the trocar from a selected entry point on an eye into a selected structure in the eye, and extending the illuminated end of the microcannula from the trocar into the selected structure.

Accessory device for EUS-FNA needle for guidewire passage

A combined system for diagnostic and therapeutic procedures includes a needle extending longitudinally from a proximal end to a distal end and including a lumen extending therethrough, the distal end including a sharp grind for cutting a tissue sample to be collected in the lumen of the needle and a protective sheath sized and shaped to be inserted through the lumen of the needle such that a distal end of the protective sheath extends distally past the distal end of the needle, the protective sheath extending longitudinally from a proximal end to the distal end and including a lumen extending therethrough.

Radially expandable cannula systems and methods for use
11576700 · 2023-02-14 · ·

A radially expandable trocar, port or cannula system is provided for use in minimally invasive surgeries. The cannula creates a port access with an initial small internal diameter. The passage of the cannula devices is defined by a plurality of elongate rigid members. A number of mechanisms are provided for expanding the passage of the cannula devices, by moving the plurality of elongate rigid members towards a larger radial location, thereby creating a larger internal diameter for the port. The elongate rigid members can be prevented from unintended movement when the system is at the un-expanded state, during expansion and when it is expanded to the desired larger diameter. Exemplary embodiments include methods of preventing gas loss from the tissue that would occur through the gaps created during expansion.

Interventional tool stepper for electromagnetic tracking

An interventional tool stepper (30) employing a frame (31), a carriage (33), an optional gear assembly (32), and an optional grid template(34). The frame (31) is structurally configured to be positioned relative to an anatomical region for holding an interventional tool (40) relative to the anatomical region. The carriage (33) is structurally configured to hold the interventional tool (40) relative to the anatomical region. The gear assembly (32) is structurally configured to translate and/or rotate the carriage (33) relative to the frame (31). The grid template (34) is structurally configured to guide one or more additional interventional tools (41) relative to the anatomical region. The frame (31), the carriage (33), the optional gear assembly (32) and the optional grid template (34) have an electromagnetic-compatible material composition for minimizing any distortion by the interventional tool stepper (30) of an electromagnetic field.

Kyphoplasty system and method

A kyphoplasty system includes various instruments which can be selectively used in a surgical theater (e.g., during a surgical operation on a patient) or a surgical training environment. The kyphoplasty system can include one or more of a kyphoplasty apparatus, a prone table mat, a connector system, a bone introducer needle, and a biopsy device. The kyphoplasty system may also include a training system for use in the training environment.

Systems and instruments for tissue sealing

Provided is a robotic system that includes a surgical instrument with a wrist including an elongate shaft extending between a proximal end and a distal end, a wrist extending from the distal end of the elongate shaft, and an end effector extending from the wrist. The end effector may include a first jaw and a second jaw, the first and second jaw being moveable between an open position in which ends of the jaws are separated from each other, and a closed position in which the ends of the jaws are closer to each other as compared to the open position. 11577048 · 2023-02-14 · ·

A method and system of bending medical device components for customization to a particular medical procedure and patient while generally maintaining the ideal performance of the component. A medical professional embeds the medical device component into a bending tool. The medical professional then aligns an intended curve region of the medical device component within a bending region of the bending tool and imparts a curve in the bending region. Finally, the medical professional withdraws the medical device component from the bending tool, and utilizes the bent medical device component in the medical procedure. The system may be a kit comprising various medical device components for a particular medical procedure and a suitable bending tool for those components.
