Methods and Apparatus for Performing Spine Surgery
Systems and methods are described for correcting sagittal imbalance in a spine including instruments for performing the controlled release of the anterior longitudinal ligament through a lateral access corridor and hyper-lordotic lateral implants.
FOSSA OVALIS PENETRATION USING PROBING ELEMENTS
A method is provided for puncturing a fossa ovalis of a heart, the method including inserting a catheter into a right atrium of the heart, and advancing a distal portion of the catheter toward an interatrial septum of the heart. A flexible longitudinal member is slid through openings disposed at the distal portion of the catheter, such that the flexible longitudinal member is made to loop around a portion of an inside perimeter of the fossa ovalis. While the flexible longitudinal member is looped around the portion of the inside perimeter of the fossa ovalis, a hole is punctured in the fossa ovalis at a puncturing point.
Endoscopic Ultrasound-Guided Biliary Access System
The present disclosure provides an access system having a maneuverable catheter assembly configured for providing access to and navigating a desired vessel for subsequent treatment thereof. The access system includes an adjustable delivery handle assembly and an access catheter subassembly having a maneuverable access catheter configured to be delivered to desired site (e.g., within duodenum) to assist in treatment of a condition (e.g., drainage of a bile ducts via Endoscopic Ultrasound Guided Biliary Drainage (EUS-BD) techniques). The access catheter includes at least a distal section having an adjustable portion along a length thereof configured to transition to a pre-defined arcuate shape to provide directional control over the distal end of the catheter as it is navigated through a vessel (e.g., bile duct). The handle assembly includes additional elements configured to allow a clinician to maneuver and manipulate the distal end of the access catheter.
SHAFT-TYPE INSTRUMENT FOR SURGICAL PURPOSES
The shaft-type instrument (1) has a shaft part (2), fixedly connected at one end to a shaft grip (3), and a sliding part (4). The sliding part (4) is displaceably mounted relative to the shaft part (2) and is, at one end, in operative connection with a pretensioned handgrip (5) such that by actuating the handgrip (5), the sliding part (4) is displaceable counter to the pretension. A respective lever arm (7, 7′) is articulated at two spaced apart shaft articulation points (6, 6′) on the shaft part (2) or shaft grip (3). The handgrip (5) has a coupling section (8) which connects the lever arms (7, 7′) and coupling joints (9, 9′) to one another such that same can pivot in the same direction. The coupling joints are spaced apart and a grip section (10) extends transverse to the coupling section (8) and to the shaft part (2).
CARTRIDGE FOR NEUROMONITORING NEEDLE-CARTRIDGE GUN SYSTEM
A neuromonitoring needle electrode placement gun which includes a housing, at least a first needle electrode and housing assembly, an elongated channel dimensioned and configured for accommodating axial movement of the at least a first needle electrode and housing assembly within the channel and for directing movement of the at least a first needle electrode and housing assembly and a pusher dimensioned and configured for engaging the at least a first needle electrode and housing assembly and for axially displacing the at least a first needle electrode and housing assembly.
INTERVENTION GUIDANCE DEVICE
A guidance device for guidance of surgical interventions on a patient, the surgical interventions requiring an intervention device to surgically enter the body and be directed through body tissues to a target site within the patient's head, the guidance device comprising: a guide piece 4 for guiding the intervention device and directing it to the target site within the patient's head; a mouthpiece 2 arranged to anchor the device in a fixed orientation relative to the patient's upper jaw or lower jaw; and a targeted or targetable mounting 6 supporting the guide piece on the mouthpiece, the mounting 6 being for directing the guide piece 4 in a desired orientation relative to the mouthpiece 2 to thereby direct the intervention device through body tissues to the target site in the patient's head.
METHOD FOR THE PERCUTANEOUS CREATION OF AN ARTERIOVENOUS FISTULA (AVF)
This document relates to the apparatus and methods used in the minimally invasive creation of arteriovenous fistula (AVF). In particular, the invention relates to the creation of an AVF using catheters and an alignment methodology that is based upon detection of asymmetric electric fields. The invention finds particular application in vascular access (VA) in the hemodialysis (HD) population.
PUNCTURE ASSISTANCE SYSTEM
A puncture assistance system provides information on a collapse state of a blood vessel to be punctured, caused by pressing action of an ultrasonic probe, when ultrasonic images of the blood vessel are acquired. A puncture assistance system 10 includes: vascular diameter detecting means 18 for detecting a vascular diameter during acquisition of the ultrasonic images from an ultrasonic diagnostic device 11; puncture assistance information generating means 12 for generating puncture assistance information for determination of whether or not puncture is allowed to be performed based on a collapse state of a blood vessel B caused by pressing action of an ultrasonic probe 15 against skin S by comparing a current vascular diameter detected by the vascular diameter detecting means 18 with a standard vascular diameter stored in advance; and a monitor 19 that presents the puncture assistance information.
PARANASAL SINUS MEDICAL DEVICE AND USES THEREOF
The present disclosure generally relates to the field of medical devices for treatment and diagnosis of paranasal sinus conditions and methods of using same. There is disclosed a device having a hollow shaft configured to be inserted into a paranasal sinus through a natural opening thereof. The hollow shaft is shaped/configured to reach a treatment area within the paranasal sinus.
INTEGRATED PAINLESS BONE MARROW BIOPSY DEVICE
An apparatus and method for performing painless bone marrow biopsy that requires only a single procedural pass to the biopsy bone site is disclosed. The biopsy device combines dermatotomy, anesthesia and marrow specimen extraction functionality and inherently aligns the bone drilling site with the site of anesthetic delivery by incorporating a transport channel that may be used for anesthetic delivery, into the biopsy needle used for bone access and bone marrow sample retrieval. The biopsy device also discloses a right angle drill interface and multiple side-access ports for aspiration and anesthetic syringe attachments. A novel syringe/plunger system comprising vacuum tube fitted plungers for quick transfer of marrow specimen sample without requiring a second non-sterile assistant is also disclosed.
