Sheet conveying apparatus

The present invention is to provide a configuration facilitating removal of a sheet stopped on a conveying belt. Regulating guides are disposed on both sides of a conveying belt in a sheet width direction Y and can guide both end edges in the sheet width direction of a sheet S conveyed while being nipped by the conveying belt and the balls. A take-out port is provided on the side closer to the regulating guide in the sheet width direction Y, through which a sheet stopped on the conveying belt is taken out. A guide moving part moves the regulating guides. When a sheet is stopped on the conveying belt, the guide moving part moves the first and second regulating guides such that the regulating guide is retracted to a position at which a support surface does not support a first sheet end edge.

A medium transport device includes a first transporter configured to transport a medium by nipping the medium along with rotation, a second transporter configured to transport the medium and disposed on an upstream side of the first transporter in a transport direction of the medium, a first adjuster configured to adjust a position of the medium in a width direction by moving the first transporter and the second transporter in the width direction of the medium with the medium nipped by the first transporter and the second transporter, and a second adjuster configured to adjust a contact pressure of the first transporter for the medium and a contact pressure of the second transporter for the medium based on resistance caused when the medium is moved in the width direction.

A sheet conveyance device capable of reducing occurrence of creases on a sheet includes first conveyance rollers that nip and convey a sheet, second conveyance rollers arranged downstream that convey the sheet, registration rollers arranged further downstream that nip and convey the sheet after correcting skew of the sheet, a switching portion that switches a state of the second conveyance rollers between contact and separated states, and a control unit that controls the rollers and the switching mechanism. The control unit switches between first and second conveyance operations. In both conveyance operations, the registration rollers start rotating to convey the sheet of which the skew has been corrected by the first conveyance rollers and the registration rollers and the second conveyance rollers are in the separated state. In the first conveyance operation, a sheet conveyance speed by the registration rollers is higher than that by the first conveyance rollers, whereas in the second conveyance operation, the sheet conveyance speed by the registration rollers is lower than that by the first conveyance rollers.

Sheet conveying apparatus

A pair of regulating guides is disposed on both sides of a conveying belt in a sheet width direction Y, each having a support surface that supports an end edge in the width direction of the sheet conveyed while being nipped by the conveying belt and balls and a guide surface that faces the end edge of the sheet in the width direction. Each of the pair of regulating guides is movable to a first guide position at which the end edge of the sheet in the width direction is supported by the support surface and guided by the guide surface and to a second guide position at which the end edge of the sheet in the sheet width direction is supported by the support surface and which is retracting further away from the end edge in the sheet width direction than the guide position.

Sheet conveying apparatus

The present invention is to provide a configuration facilitating removal of a sheet stopped on a conveying belt. In a sheet conveying apparatus that conveys a sheet using a conveying belt and balls, a sheet may be jammed and stopped on the conveying belt. In this case, it is difficult for a user to take out the sheet through a take-out port if the sheet is nipped by conveying roller pairs disposed upstream and downstream relative to the conveying belt in a sheet conveying direction. Thus, conveying roller pairs and the conveying belt are operated such that the sheet, which is stopped on the conveying belt and hence should be taken out through the take-out port, is brought into a state of being nipped only by the conveying belt and balls.

A transport pinch is provided along the two way transport path for reversing a sheet on the two-way transport path. When in use, the two-way transport path extends downward in a vertically extending free-hanging chamber wherein the sheet engaged by the transport pinch is allowed to hang freely under the influence of gravity. Thereby, a compact device is formed which is able to adjust the sheet to a suitable orientation for the second processing device. The device further prevents forces from the first processing device to disrupt the sheet's orientation in the second processing device.

A sheet feeding device includes a feeding roller pair, a detecting portion, a first changing portion, a second changing portion, and a controller for controlling the first changing portion and the second changing portion. The controller starts a first feeding operation for feeding a sheet toward the obliquely feeding roller pair in a nipping state of the feeding roller pair and then starts a second feeding operation for feeding the sheet for abutting a side end of the sheet against the reference member in the nipping state of the obliquely feeding roller pair. The controller changes, after the first feeding operation is started and before the second feeding operation is started, a start timing of the second feeding operation on the basis of a detection result of a position of the side end of the sheet detected by the detecting portion.
