Water level detector for fuel filters
A water level detector for fuel filters which has a first body and a second body, the first body and the second body being able to be joined together, jointly forming an outer enclosure of the water level detector; and components to detect water in the fuel filters housed by the outer enclosure. The water level detector also includes a plurality of protrusions and housings adapted to transmit relative turning of the first body and the second body together, jointly forming the outer enclosure, and a plurality of tabs and slots adapted to establish axial retention, such that the first body and the second body remain joined together, the first body and the second body jointly forming the outer enclosure.
FUEL-WATER SEPARATOR SYSTEMS AND METHODS
A fuel-water separator includes a cartridge assembly and a bowl. The cartridge assembly receives a fuel-water mixture and provides a fuel. The cartridge assembly includes an endplate. The bowl is configured to store water separated from the fuel-water mixture. The bowl is coupled to the endplate. The endplate includes an air vent that receives air from the bowl. The air vent establishes a pressure equilibrium within the bowl and the cartridge assembly.
Marine propulsion systems and fuel filters for marine propulsion systems
A marine propulsion system includes an internal combustion engine; a fuel reservoir; a pump that pumps fuel from the fuel reservoir to the internal combustion engine; and a fuel filter that filters the fuel. The fuel filter includes a canister and a fuel inlet that conveys the fuel adjacent to cylindrical sidewalls of the canister so that the fuel immediately spirally flows around and down the cylindrical sidewalls under centrifugal force and under force of gravity, and then is drawn radially inwardly through a filter element by the pump. A fuel outlet extends at least partially along a center axis of the canister and discharges the fuel from the canister. A drain is located at the bottom of the canister and configured to drain water that separates from the fuel as the fuel flows around and down the cylindrical sidewalls.
Fuel filter
A fuel filter is disclosed herein, comprising: a cup-shaped conductive housing with an opening on one end; a lid, provided at the opening end of the cup-shaped conductive housing to cover the opening, the cup-shaped conductive housing and the lid together defining a fuel filter cavity; and a heater, provided inside the fuel filter cavity, configured to heat fuel inside the fuel filter cavity; wherein the heater includes a grounding electrode that is electrically connected to the cup-shaped conductive housing. The fuel filter as described above electrically connects the conductive housing and the grounding electrode of the heater, creating a connecting path that grounds the conductive housing without need of a separate grounding lead. Therefore, a more compact structure and lower costs are made possible.
Filter leak path prevention via interference pin
A replacement filter element having a removable pin attached to the filter element is described. The removable pin is attached to the filter element via a first interference fit. When the replacement filter element is installed into a filtration system having a drain valve with an internal draft, the removable pin seals onto the drain valve and forms a second interference fit between the drain valve and the pin. The pin seals an opening in the drain valve. The second interference fit is stronger than the first interference. Accordingly, when the replacement filter element is removed from the filter housing (e.g., during a service event of the replacement filter element), the pin detaches from the replacement filter element and remains positioned within the drain valve thereby preventing fluid from leaking from the housing when the filter element is removed. The pin permanently plugs the drain valve once installed.
Fuel filter
A fluid drain off system for a fuel filter, the system comprising a float, movable together with a trigger device for a switch, such as a magnet, in response to the level of fluid contaminant, a switch arranged to be selectively triggered by the trigger device upon the fluid contaminant reaching a predetermined level, and a fluid passage configured to be selectively opened in response to the triggering of the switch to allow fluid contaminants to be drained from the filter.
Filter Element for Liquid Filtration
A filter element for liquid filtration has a hollow-cylindrical filter medium body and an end disk covering an end face of the filter medium body. A central cutout axially penetrates the end disk. An outflow channel for liquid to be filtered or filtered liquid is arranged at the end disk and connects to a liquid collecting space. The outflow channel extends from a radially outward wall surface of the filter medium body to the central cutout of the end disk. The outflow channel is controlled by a drainage device. A filter device with a filter housing provided with such a filter element has a drainage device that controls the outflow channel. A filter device with a drainage device having a first drainage position for draining only water and a second drainage position draining water from a water collecting space and liquid from a liquid collecting space is provided.
Coalescing filter element
One aspect of the disclosure provides a filter element including a first end cap, a second end cap, a ring of filter media and an annular seal. The first end cap defines a cylindrical collar that circumscribes a first central opening and includes a substantially planar first outer surface that extends radially outward from the cylindrical collar to an outer peripheral edge. The second end cap defines a second central opening substantially coaxial with the first central opening. The ring of filter media is disposed between the first end cap and the second end cap, and circumscribes a central cavity in fluid communication with the first central opening and the second central opening. The annular seal is disposed upon the first outer surface of the first end cap and around the cylindrical collar. The annular seal extends axially way from the first outer surface.
Installation of correct filter cartridge in fluid filter assembly before allowing assembly to be completed
The descriptions relate to preventing assembly of a fluid filter apparatus unless a filter cartridge is installed, and preventing assembly of a fluid filter apparatus if the incorrect filter cartridge is installed. A mechanism includes cooperation of a movable member and a structure that can move the movable member to ensure that a fluid filter apparatus cannot be completely assembled, for example connecting its filter head to its shell, when there is no cartridge installed inside the shell or when there is an attempt to install an incorrect cartridge. This can protect from an inadvertent or intentional failure to install a cartridge (or correct cartridge) in the fluid filter apparatus.
Component for a fluid filter, and fluid filter
The present invention relates to a fuel filter component containing a heating device for heating a fluid; a detection device for detecting a level of a further fluid, located in a reservoir; and an outlet conduit for the further fluid. The component is a one-piece component, in particular the heating device, detection device, and outlet conduit are embodied. The present invention further relates to a fluid filter, in particular a fuel filter, having such a component.
