METHODS, PRODUCTS & USES RELATING TO SCAVENGING OF ACIDIC SULFIDE SPECIES
The use of the combination of (a) an amino compound and (b) a compound including a soft electrophilic centre to scavenge and retain acidic sulfide species at a higher temperature and/or scavenge acidic sulfide species at an increased rate compared to that achieved using the amino compound alone.

Iron oxide absorbent compositions
Embodiments provided herein are compositions directed to porous iron oxides, which are suitable for removing hydrogen sulfide and other sulfur-containing organic contaminants from hydrocarbon streams, and in which the iron oxide component of the composition contains both maghemite and hematite phases, with maghemite forming the greater portion of these phases. In some embodiments, magnetite, aluminum oxide, alumina silicate, and a binder comprised of an organic substance are homogenized, followed by calcining which burns away the organic and converts magnetite to a mix of maghemite and hematite.
GAS SEPARATION METHOD AND GAS SEPARATOR
A gas separator includes a separation membrane complex in which a separation membrane with pores having a mean pore diameter less than or equal to 1 nm is formed on a porous support, and a gas supply part that supplies a mixed gas including CO.sub.2 and another gas from the side of the separation membrane to the separation membrane complex. Then, CO.sub.2 in the mixed gas is caused to permeate through the separation membrane and the support and is separated from the mixed gas in a state in which at least part of a permeation surface of the support, from which a gas having permeated through the separation membrane is exhausted, has a temperature lower by 10° C. or more than the temperature of the mixed gas before being supplied to the separation membrane complex.
Air filtration device
A device is provided. The device includes one or more of a container, filtration media, and a vacuum apparatus. The container includes a first hole in a first end of the container and a second hole in a second end of the container opposite the first end. The filtration media is disposed within the container, and is configured to absorb an odor present in inlet air. The vacuum apparatus is coupled to the first hole, and is configured to pull inlet air through the filtration media from the second hole and provide filtered air to the first hole.
STAXcraft
A novel emissions control watercraft (STAXcraft) solving a long-felt but unsolved need regarding disadvantages associated with prior-art emissions servicing watercraft, the disadvantages selected from the group, but not limited to, the use of tugboats, securing or mooring servicing watercraft to a serviced vessel, additional expenses and time-delays and inefficiencies of land-based approaches, increased toxic emissions, increased greenhouse gases (GHG) emissions, danger from falling cargo, tanker safety, alongside mooring in narrow channels preventing other OGV's to pass safely, and cargo tank emissions.
Low cost immobilized amine regenerable solid sorbents
A method of modifying a chemical interaction between a functional group of an immobilized amine in a solid sorbent composition and a compound that chemically interacts with the functional group to reduce the heat required to desorb the compound from the solid sorbent. A method of inhibiting degradation of an immobilized amine in an immobilized amine solid sorbent. Compositions and methods of use of a low-cost regenerable immobilized amine solid sorbent resistant to degradation.
DEODORANT
Disclosed is a deodorant comprising metal-containing oxidized cellulose nanofibers containing a metal other than sodium in salt form and having a number-average fiber diameter of 100 nm or less and an average degree of polymerization of 100 to 2,000. The metal other than sodium is at least one metal selected from the group consisting of copper, zinc, and silver
Removal of monocyclic aromatic compounds (BTEX) from a gas
The present invention relates to an improved process and system for purifying a gas, preferably an energy gas, containing aromatic compounds and isolating a fraction of aromatic compounds from said gas. In the process according to the invention, the gas is contacted with a washing liquid in step (a), at a temperature of 15-250° C., to obtain a purified gas, which is depleted in aromatic compounds, and a spent washing liquid wherein the aromatic compounds are dissolved. The spent washing liquid is stripped in step (b) with a stripping gas comprising at least 50 vol. % steam, to obtain a stripped washing liquid which is advantageously reused in step (a) and a loaded stripping gas comprising the aromatic compounds. The aromatic compounds are separated from the loaded stripping gas in step (c) by condensation of the steam and/or the aromatic compounds comprised in the loaded stripping gas to obtain an immiscible composition and isolating the aromatic compounds therefrom. The cleared stripping gas which is advantageously reused in step (b).
PURIFICATION OF POLLUTED AIR USING MICRO-ORGANISM-CONTAINING PARTICULATE MEDIA
A process for purifying polluted air, includes passing polluted air through a fluidized bed of micro-organism-containing primary particulate media so that, as the polluted air passes through the fluidized bed, organic pollutants therein are removed by the micro-organisms. Partially purified air containing a lower level of the organic pollutants than the polluted air that enters the fluidized bed, emerges from the fluidized bed. The partially purified air is passed through a static bed of secondary particulate media thereby to remove residual organic pollutants from the partially purified air. Purified air is thus produced.
