A thermotherapy device for treatment of neonates has a bordered lying surface (5) for receiving a neonate, a vertical support column (8) arranged adjacent to the head end of the lying surface (5) and radiant heaters (3, 4), supported by the column, directed at the lying surface (5). A control unit controls the heating output of each of the radiant heaters (3, 4). At least one first radiant heater (4) is directed at a head end half of the lying surface (5). At least one second radiant heater (3) is directed at the other half of the lying surface. The control unit (9) adjusts the heating output of the first radiant heater and the second radiant heater in such that, with the lying surface (5) arranged horizontally, the heating output of the second radiant heater (3) is greater by a predefined factor than that of the first radiant heater (4).

CAPACITIVE SENSOR FOR RESPIRATORY MONITORING

A system is provided for monitoring a patient on an air support system. The system comprises a capacitive sensor system having a capacitive sensor positioned at the underside of an air filled mattress, and a respiration signal processing module that receives the output of the capacitive sensor system and is configured to monitor patient respiration. Respiration is monitored by: periodically sampling the capacitive sensor system output to obtain measurements of incremental body displacement; analyzing a plurality of the samples to determine one or more values for parameters of patient respiratory rate; and determining when one or more of the parameter values indicate abnormal respiration. A corresponding method and computer program are also provided.

Patient support apparatus with radiation sensor

A radiation monitoring system includes a patient support apparatus. A radiation sensor assembly is operably coupled to the patient support apparatus. The radiation sensor assembly includes a radiation sensor and a first controller. The radiation sensor senses radiation data corresponding to a radiation dose received by a patient. A management system includes a second controller that stores a patient profile database. The second controller is communicatively coupled with the first controller. The first controller communicates the radiation data to the second controller for storage in the patient profile database to monitor the radiation dose received by the patient.

Smart Bed or Mattress for Reducing Pressure Ulcers Which Uses Adjustable Orthogonal Straps to Create Low-Pressure Areas

This invention is a smart bed or mattress for reducing pressure ulcers with an orthogonal array of movable straps or layers which creates a low-pressure area. The location of the low-pressure area is selected to be under a portion of a person's body which is at risk for getting a pressure ulcer. A low-pressure area can be created: where straps which have been slackened overlap; where elastic segments of movable straps overlap; or where the movement of straps creates an opening.

INCONTINENCE DETECTION APPARATUS ELECTRICAL ARCHITECTURE

An incontinence detection system includes an incontinence detection pad for placement beneath a person to be monitored. The incontinence detection pad has a passive radio frequency identification (RFID) tag. A reader is provided and a plurality of antennae is coupled to the reader. The reader includes a bistatic radio frequency (RF) switch matrix which is operable to establish a first antenna of the plurality of antennae as a transmit antenna that is used to wirelessly energize the passive RFID tag and to establish a second antennae of the plurality of antennae as a receive antenna that is used to read backscattered data that may be emitted from the passive RFID tag. The first and second antennae are situated in respective housings that are spaced apart from each other. An arrangement of first and second electrodes on an electrical sheet of an incontinence pad is also provided.

BEDPAN SYSTEM

A patient support includes a mattress with an inflatable bladder, where the inflatable bladder has a cavity and an upper bladder wall forming an outwardly facing side for facing and supporting the patient on the patient mattress and forming an inwardly facing side facing into the cavity. The patient support further includes a light transmitter operable to emit light through the cavity to impinge on the inwardly facing side of the upper bladder wall and a light receiver operable to detect a reflection of the light off the inwardly facing side of the bladder wall, with the light receiver generating a signal responsive to detecting the reflection. A controller is in communication with the light transmitter and is operable to determine immersion of a patient into the mattress based on the signal from the light receiver.

Patient Transport Apparatus Having Powered Drive System Utilizing Dual Mode User Input Control

Systems for facilitating movement of a patient transport apparatus are provided and include user input control device that includes a mode switch selectable between a longitudinal transport mode and a multidirectional mode and a driving assist device actuatable between at least one engaged state and a non-engaged state. The mode switch generates signals based on the selected mode and the driving assist device generates engaged or non-engaged signals which are received by a controller. The controller is configured to generate an output signal sent to a lift actuator, swivel actuator, and/or a powered drive system to assist a user in propelling the apparatus in a desired manner.

RAMP SYSTEM

A ramp system includes: a ramp main body provided in a door opening and configured to be able to advance from a vehicle floor toward a road surface; a ramp-state detection device configured to detect an advancing-retracting state of the ramp main body; a display device configured to display an image in a display area observable from an operator seat; and a UI controller configured to control display on the display device. The UI controller causes the display device to display a state image including an image indicative of the advancing-retracting state.

CONFIGURATION AND SPACE MANAGEMENT OF PATIENT SUPPORT APPARATUS
20220310239 · 2022-09-29 ·

A system for autonomous patient support apparatuses is provided. A computing device receives: (i) patient data relating to patients at a healthcare facility, and (ii) autonomous patient support apparatus data relating to autonomous patient support apparatuses at the healthcare facility, the autonomous patient support apparatus data including configuration information and occupancy status for the autonomous patient support apparatuses. The computing device predicts an expected number of additional patients to be admitted to the healthcare facility. The computing device generates a request to modify a configuration of one or more autonomous patient support apparatuses within a patient treatment room based, at least in part, on the patient data, the autonomous patient support apparatus data, and the expected number of additional patients. The computing device instructs the one or more autonomous patient support apparatuses to modify the configuration of the one or more autonomous patient support apparatuses within the patient treatment room.
