Telescoping Syringe with One-Way Valve
A telescoping syringe suitable for use with medications and other ejectable or injectable fluids is presented. The syringe includes a plunger, a barrel, and a valve. The plunger is extendible from and retractable into the barrel. The plunger defines a first reservoir. The barrel defines a second reservoir as the plunger is extended from the barrel. The valve is disposed at one end of the plunger adjacent to a nipple extending from the barrel. A first sealing interface is formed by the valve and a distal wall along the barrel adjacent to the nipple. A second sealing interface is formed by an annular flange along the one-way valve and an annular groove along the plunger. A third sealing interface is formed by the valve and a circumferential end along the plunger. The sealing interfaces are closed prior to extension of the plunger from the barrel thereby preventing a gas from entering and a fluid from existing the first reservoir. The sealing interfaces are open when the plunger is extended from the barrel so that the gas enters the first reservoir via an inlet(s) along the annular groove and fluid is communicated into the second reservoir via an outlet(s) along the valve. The second and third sealing interfaces are closed when the plunger is retracted into the barrel thereby allowing fluid to exit the second reservoir via the nipple.
INDEXING DELIVERY DEVICE
A dispensing device is disclosed which provides for dispensing multiple doses in amounts determined by a movable collar attached to a plunger shaft.
Viscous-material filling method
A method for transferring a viscous material into a syringe that has a plug dividing a syringe interior into a first sub-chamber and a second sub-chamber, where a radial clearance exists between the plug and the syringe, includes transferring the viscous material from a container into the first sub-chamber to fill the first sub-chamber while allowing air initially present within the first sub-chamber to flow into the second sub-chamber via the radial clearance, and flowing a first volume of the viscous material into but not through the radial clearance such that the viscosity of the first volume of the viscous material and the radial clearance cooperate to block a flow of a second volume of the viscous material into the radial clearance and prevent the second volume of the viscous material from leaking from the first sub-chamber into the second sub-chamber.
STORAGE AND MIXING SYSTEM FOR PASTY CEMENT COMPONENTS AND METHOD THEREFOR
A storage and mixing system, for pasty two-component polymethyl methacrylate bone cements, comprises a cartridge with a cylindrical interior, a cartridge head that closes an end of said cartridge, a partition wall axially disposed in the cylindrical interior of the cartridge, wherein said partition wall is connected to the circumferential surface of the cylindrical interior of the cartridge and divides the cylindrical interior of the cartridge delimited by the cartridge head into two spatially separate cavities. The first cavity includes a first pasty cement component and the separate second cavity includes a second pasty cement component, two delivery plungers close the two cavities on the side of the cavities opposite the cartridge head. At least two cutting edges are disposed on the front side of the sleeve-shaped connecting means facing the cartridge head, such that the at least two cutting edges cut off the partition wall from the cylindrical inner wall of the cartridge as at least one cut-off strip when the delivery plungers are advanced towards the cartridge head in the cavities with the connecting means, and wherein the sleeve-shaped connecting means comprises a deflecting surface which is inclined to the axis of the connecting means which, on advancing the connecting means, presses the at least one cut-off strip of the partition wall towards the inner wall of the cartridge.
STORAGE AND MIXING SYSTEM FOR PASTY CEMENT COMPONENTS AND METHOD THEREFOR
A storage and mixing system for pasty two-component polymethyl methacrylate bone cements comprises a tubular cartridge with a cylindrical interior, a cartridge head that closes one end of the tubular cartridge, a partition wall axially disposed in the cylindrical interior and dividing the cylindrical interior into two spatially separate cavities, the first cavity including a first pasty cement component and the second cavity including a second pasty cement component, two delivery plungers disposed movably in the two cavities and connected via a connecting means, wherein a wedge or cone having a cutting edge on the front side thereof facing the cartridge head is disposed on the connecting means, such that said cutting edge cuts open the partition wall when the delivery pistons are advanced towards the cartridge head and the wedge or cone presses the cut open parts of the partition wall towards the inner wall of the cartridge.
STORAGE AND MIXING SYSTEM FOR PASTY CEMENT COMPONENTS AND METHOD THEREFOR
A storage and mixing system for pasty two-component polymethyl methacrylate bone cements comprises a tubular cartridge having a cylindrical inner chamber, a dispensing plunger that is axially displaceable in the inner chamber of the cartridge, a partition disposed axially in the tubular cartridge, and a cartridge head which closes one end of the tubular cartridge. The cartridge head has a slot-shaped opening, wherein the partition protrudes from the inner chamber of the cartridge through the slot-shaped opening of the cartridge head, wherein the partition divides the cylindrical inner chamber of the cartridge bounded by the dispensing plunger and the cartridge head into two cavities that are spatially separated from one another. A first pasty cement component is present in the first cavity and a second pasty cement component is present in the separate second cavity, wherein the partition is removable through the slot-shaped opening of the cartridge head so that the two separate cavities are connected to one another after the partition is removed.
Dispenser assembly and method for manufacturing the dispenser assembly
A dispenser assembly having a plunger and a housing is provided. The plunger has an inner plunger portion and an outer plunger portion disposed concentrically around the inner plunger portion. The housing has an inner tubular housing wall, an outer tubular housing wall, and first and second outlet members. The outer tubular housing wall is disposed concentrically around the inner tubular housing wall. The inner tubular housing wall defines a first interior region therein, and the inner tubular housing wall and the outer tubular housing wall define a second interior region therebetween. The first and second outlet members fluidly communicate with the first and second interior regions, respectively. The inner plunger portion is slidably received in the first interior region. The outer plunger portion is slidably received in the second interior region.
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR ENGAGING BEAKS AND MIXING TIPS
A device is provided for assembling components of a mixing syringe for use in a dental procedure. For this assembly, the components of interest include a beak and a mixing tip for the syringe. Specifically, the device includes a top plate formed with a hole, and a support member for the top plate that maintains the hole at a predetermined height H above a surface when the device is placed on the surface. For an assembly operation, the beak is supported on the device with a portion of the beak inserted downwardly through the hole of the top plate. This also extends a gripping member of the beak upwardly above the top plate. A grab ring of the mixing tip is then pushed against the gripping member of the beak for their engagement with each other. They are then removed together from the device and engaged with the mixing syringe.
