The holder is supported on the step and configured to hold a container in each of the holder openings so the held containers are suspended within the transport and packaging container. The step height is constant and independent of at least one of a shape, a type, or a size of each of the held containers.

Secure medication transport

A smart carrier has a housing comprising one or more docking locations configured to accept a secure receptacle, a wireless interface module disposed within the housing, and a processor disposed within the housing and operatively coupled to the one or more docking locations and the wireless interface module. The processor is configured to communicate with an external device through the wireless interface module and with a secure receptacle that is mated with one of the one or more docking locations. The smart carrier also has a battery disposed within the housing and configured to provide all operational power to the processor, the wireless interface module, and the one or more docking locations.

A method for filling a tray with individual medicine portions, which are removed from medicament packs that are provided from an automated storage system by means of an output/input station, is provided. A target filling of accommodating compartments of the tray is provided to a control device, which determines the medicament packs to be removed from storage and the sequence of the removal. For removal, a medicament pack is placed on a first transfer position of the output/input station by an operating device, transported to an output position by a first transport device as soon as the output position is free, and removed from the output position. Individual portions are removed from the medicament pack and introduced into respective accommodating compartments of the tray as indicated by an indicating device. The medicament pack is transported to a second transfer position by a second transport device.

Accordingly, a user will be able to observe the medication-related information (164) of the switches (152), and also continuously observe the corresponding medication-related information (168) of one medication container (141), or of several medication containers (141). For example, if the user notes, on the medication-related information (164) of the top switch (171) of rack (140), the term MORNING, then the user will be able to continuously view the generally aligned and corresponding medication-related information (168) of one or more medication containers (141) to search for corresponding medication-related information (168), such as TAKE 1, thereby noting those medications, and quantity thereof, that need to be consumed by the user. Preferably after consuming the medication, or medications, for that time frame, the user then slides the lever (154) of the particular switch representing the time frame to the right, thus, for example, alternating/switching MORNING to TAKEN.

System And Method For Secure Medication Dispensing, Monitoring, And Control

A programmable medication dispenser is provided to securely dispense medication to a patient and mitigate the risk of diversion of the medication to an unauthorized user. The programmable medication dispenser may include a processor, a memory, a housing, a biometric verification module, an inner receptacle having a plurality of compartments for storing the medication, and a gate for dispensing the medication from one of the compartments. A patient may access the medication stored within the medication dispenser according to a prescribed dosing schedule based on instructions executed by the processor after verifying his or her identify via the biometric verification module. A system is also provided for securely dispensing, monitoring, controlling medication for a patient using the programmable medication dispenser and for mitigating the risk of diversion of the medication to an unauthorized user. The system could be implemented in a cloud-based environment wherein centralized, cloud-based monitoring and control of a network of medication dispensing systems is provided, and the system could function as a centralized portal for allowing healthcare providers to access patient healthcare data, as well as for allowing insurers and other entities to access such data, as needed.
