A battery bridge for an electronic device, preferably for an electronic implant, has an electrically conductive first contact element, an electrically conductive second contact element and an insulator. The first contact element and the second contact element comprise a weldable material. In a first state of the battery bridge, the first contact element is distanced from the second contact element via a predefined air gap and the first contact element is electrically insulated from the second contact element by the air gap and the insulator. The battery bridge is formed in such a way that it can be transferred, by welding the first contact element and the second contact element together, into a second state, in which the air gap between the first contact element and the second contact element is closed electrically conductively, at least in part. A method for activating such an electronic device is also disclosed.

HIGH THROUGHPUT CONTINUOUS PROCESSING OF ALUMINUM ALLOYS FOR ELECTRICAL INTERCONNECT COMPONENTS

A tempering process for tempering an aluminum alloy coil includes a first reel-to-reel process including an anneal to solutionize the aluminum alloy followed by a quench, a second reel-to-reel process comprising rolling reduction, and a hardening anneal performed on the aluminum alloy coil. Cladding may be performed during the second reel-to-reel process; or a subsequent reel-to-reel electroplating process may be performed including an alkaline soak clean, an alkaline microetch and seed electroplating, and aqueous electroplating of a contact metal onto the seed electroplating. Electrical interconnect components may be stamped from the tempered and clad or electroplated aluminum alloy coil. The electrical interconnect components may, for example, be connectors, lead frames, or bus bars.

The electrode (10) includes an electrically conductive surface (14) with a galvanic pellicle, or carbon nanotube mat (18), secured to the conductive surface (14). The pellicle (18) has a first surface (20) and an opposed outer surface (22) and defines an uncompressed thickness dimension (24) as a longest length of a straight axis (26) extending from the first surface (20) to the outer surface (22) of an uncompressed section (28) of the galvanic pellicle (18). Uncompressed sections (28) of the pellicle are defined between connected areas (30) and continuous connected areas (32) of the pellicle (18). Any point (35) within any uncompressed section (28) is no more distant from one of a nearest connected area (30) and/or a nearest segment (34) of a continuous connected area (32) than about ten times the uncompressed thickness dimension (24) of the pellicle (18), thereby achieving significantly reduced contact resistance.

BLACK PHOSPHORUS GAS SENSOR
20170322166 · 2017-11-09 ·

The inventors experimentally demonstrated NO.sub.2 gas sensing performance of multilayer black phosphorous (BP) field effect transistors. The BP sensors were sensitive to NO.sub.2 concentration down to 5 ppb making them comparable in sensitivity to the best 2D material based sensors. Raman spectroscopy comparison revealed no apparent change in the spectra before and after exposure to NO.sub.2, which shows that thick BP flakes can maintain their relative stability after sensing. Moreover, the BP device sensing performance fitted well with the Langmuir Isotherm for molecules adsorbed on a surface, which confirms charge transfer as the dominant mechanism for sensing. The systematic increase in conductance with increasing NO.sub.2 concentrations suggests NO.sub.2 molecules withdraw electrons and dope BP flakes with holes. These results lay the ground work for BP to be applied to various sensing applications including chemical, gas, and bio-sensors.
