HYBRID BRAIDED COMPOSITE PARTS
Systems and methods are provided for fabricating a hybrid composite part. A method includes braiding a first set of fibers to form a weave having a closed cross-sectional shape, braiding a second set of fibers into the weave that are chemically distinct from the first set of fibers, impregnating the weave with a resin, and hardening the resin within the weave to form a hybrid composite part.
SEALING PROCESS AND MACHINE
The invention relates to a system and process of the sealing of an area of an object intended to be covered, such as an opening slot, by a sealing strip which becomes adhesive in an excited state when subjected to ultrasound. This procedure comprises the steps of: supplying a sealing strip between an object and a sonotrode having a linear application area; supporting or pressing the linear application area of the sonotrode with the sealing strip to thereby adhere the sealing strip area, which is in contact with the linear application area of the sonotrode, to a corresponding area of the object; and displacing the object in relation to the sonotrode according to a profile of the sealing area, so as to apply the sealing strip to the sealing area of the object.
Method of manufacturing centrifugal pump
A centrifugal blood pump prevents a shaft member from oscillating due to expansion of a pump housing resulting from pressurization of the blood. The centrifugal blood pump is manufactured by assembling a bottom member 21 and a lid member 22, and compressing them in a direction in which the bottom member 21 and the lid member 22 approach each other by a deformation amount along their outer circumferential walls. The lid member and the bottom member are joined while in the compressed state in order to create a preloading force between the shaft member and bearings to resist the expansion due to pressurization of the blood during use.
Laser Induced Sealing of Concentrically Layered Materials
A connection, and methods of making an using such a connection, the connection comprising a first layer; a second layer concentrically disposed about the first layer; and a laser-induced seal between portions of the first and second layers; wherein the laser-induced seal provides a fluid-tight engagement between the first and second layers. As to particular embodiments of the connection, the first layer can be incorporated into a first conduit and the second layer can be incorporated into a second conduit.

RIVET CONNECTION AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING A RIVET CONNECTION
A rivet connection has a hollow rivet composed of plastics material and connects a first component to a second component. The first component has a first surface and the second component has a second and third surface. The first surface and the second surface bear on one another. The second component has a first opening between the second and the third surface. The hollow rivet has a tubular component having a lateral wall, a cavity, a first end and a second end. Part of the tubular component is disposed in the first opening of the second component. The second end of the tubular component protrudes beyond the second component. The lateral wall of the tubular component adjacent the first opening of the second component is heated and compressed and configures an outwardly bulging region. Part of the outwardly bulging region contacts the third surface of the second component.
Impeller of centrifugal fan and method and apparatus for manufacturing the same
An impeller of a centrifugal fan includes multiple blades arranged annularly around a rotational axis, a main plate, a shroud, main plate-side welded portions between main plate-side blade axial ends of the blades and the main plate, and shroud-side welded portions between shroud-side blade axial ends of the blades and the shroud. The main plate is arranged opposite to main plate-side blade axial ends. The shroud is arranged opposite to shroud-side blade axial ends. The main plate-side welded portions have main plate-side welding holes that are recesses extending through the main plate to portions of the main plate-side blade axial ends. The shroud-side welded portions have shroud-side welding holes that are recesses extending through the shroud to portions of the shroud-side blade axial ends.
Container sealing apparatus and sealing system
A container sealing apparatus including: a rotating spindle (24); a rotating turret means (38) disposed around the rotating spindle and having pockets (40) along a circular transport path; container support means (42) arranged below the rotating turret means in correspondence with the pockets (40), and which can rotate about the rotating spindle and rotate on their axes; lid pressing means (44) arranged above the rotating turret means in correspondence with the container support means, which can rotate about the rotating spindle and rotate on their axes, and can ascend and descend relative to the container support means; and laser irradiation means (46) capable of rotating about the rotating spindle and adapted to direct laser light toward the container (2), against which the lid (14) has been pressed by the container support means and the lid pressing means, thereby heat welding the lid (14) to the container.
METHOD OF WELDING A PROTECTIVE STRUCTURE TO AN OPTICAL FIBER TIP
A method of welding a protective structure to a tip of a surgical laser fiber involves inserting the optical fiber into a length of tubing, and positioning the fiber and the tubing in a rotatable fixture arranged to simultaneously rotate the fiber and tubing while laser radiation is directed through a transparent material of the tubing, so that one or both contacting surfaces of the tubing and the fiber absorb the laser radiation and heat up to weld the tubing to the fiber. The tubing may be a length of polymer material.
