Methods of manufacturing articles utilizing foam particles

Methods for manufacturing articles of footwear are provided. In various aspects, the methods comprise utilizing additive manufacturing methods with foam particles. In some aspects, the additive manufacturing methods comprise increasing the temperature of a plurality of foam particles with actinic radiation under conditions effective to fuse a portion of the plurality of foam particles comprising one or more thermoplastic elastomers. Increasing the temperature of the foam particles can be carried out for one or multiple iterations. The disclosed methods can be used to manufacturer articles with sub-regions that exhibit differing degrees of fusion between the foam particles, thereby resulting in sub-regions with different properties such as density, resilience, and/or flexural modulus. This abstract is intended as a scanning tool for purposes of searching in the particular art and is not intended to be limiting of the present disclosure.

A household appliance includes a functional compartment, and an insulation arrangement provided on an outer side of the functional compartment for thermal and/or acoustic insulation of the functional compartment. The insulation arrangement includes an insulation element which is made in one piece from a plastic material selected such that a surface of the insulation element in facing relation to the functional compartment adheres to the functional compartment and is separable therefrom in a non-destructive manner A component arranged outside the functional compartment is at least substantially encapsulated in the insulation element.

Composite article with expandable elastomer in compression

A composite article having an elastomeric composition with a blowing agent having an activation temperature and providing at least one structural member defining a fixed gap. The composition is formed below the blowing agent's activation temperature into a solid elastomeric member approximately the thickness of or larger than the gap. The elastomeric member is assembled into the gap, which may place the elastomeric member in a state of compression in the gap. The elastomeric member is then expanded by heating it above the activation temperature. During expansion, the escape of the gas produced is limited to increase the state of compression of the elastomer in the gap by means of confining any free surfaces or by including a platy filler such as nanoclay in the composition.

[PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED]

To provide a method for readily forming an easily separable portion having an adhesive strength that is required as a package bag on packaging film, a package bag having an easily separable portion formed by this method, and a filling-packing machine utilizing this method.

[SOLUTION]

A method forming an easily separable portion in packaging film by interposing at least two packaging films between a horn emitting ultrasonic waves and an anvil oppositely disposed to the horn, and vibrating the packaging films by the ultrasonic waves, in which a vibratable layer is provided on the packaging film in at least one of the horn side and the anvil side.

THREE-DIMENSIONAL PRINTING

A three-dimensional printing kit includes a build material composition and a dielectric agent. The build material composition includes a fluorinated polymeric material having an effective relative permittivity (εr) value ranging from >3 to ≤10,000. The dielectric agent includes a dielectric material having an effective relative permittivity (εr) value ranging from ≥1.1 to about ≤10,000.

Composite materials

A fibre reinforced polymer (FRP) composite structure incorporates a woven preform containing tows of carbon or other advanced fibres and wires of shape memory alloy (SMA). The SMA wires are capable of absorbing much larger amounts of strain energy than the conventional components of FRP composites and hence enhance the impact resistance of the structure. The woven form incorporates the SMA into the structure in an optimum manner in terms of handling and performance.

What is presented is a unit cell comprising a cellular geometry that comprises cell walls and cell edges arranged into a combination of a cubic cell geometry and a tetrahedral cell geometry arranged to have a coincident central vertex. The cubic cell geometry comprises three orthogonal cell faces that intersect at its central vertex. The tetrahedral cell geometry comprises an arrangement of eight tetrahedral cells that share its central vertex such that each tetrahedral cell shares three coincident edges with three other tetrahedral cells in a cubically symmetric arrangement. The tetrahedral cell geometry is combined with the cubic cell geometry such that all vertices of the tetrahedral cell geometry are coincident with the vertices of the cubic cell geometry.

A friction damped insert for highly stressed engineering components is disclosed. The disclosed inventive concept provides a method and system for increasing the damping capacity of an engineering system by adding a non-flat solid, highly damped insert to a system component that contributes most to the system's dynamic response. The insert can either be embedded into a system component during casting or be fastened to the system component outer surface. The insert is made of the single layer of flexible material by forming it into a rigid elongated body. The layer of material can be turned over on itself without folding to create a cylinder or can be folded over a number of times to create a prismatic bar. The layer of material may be shaped into a corrugated panel. The layer of flexible material may have a number of relatively small openings or perforations with a uniform spatial distribution.
