SYRINGE ADAPTER FOR ANIMAL MEDICATION
Improved apparatus for use with animal medication in fluid form, which is particularly beneficial for medications having a relatively high viscosity. The disclosed syringe adapter has an opening that is relatively large, as compared to a conventional needle, and thus affixing the disclosed syringe adapter to a syringe improves syringeability of higher-viscosity medications. When the disclosed syringe adapter is affixed to a pistol-grip or tab-handled syringe, the medication withdrawn into the pistol-grip syringe can be more easily administered from the syringe barrel (noting that the syringe adapter will be replaced with a needle prior to injecting the medication).

An electronic system for a drug delivery device is provided, the electronic system comprising at least one user interface member configured to be manipulated by a user for performing a dose operation, e.g. a dose setting operation to set a dose of drug to be delivered by the drug delivery device and/or a dose delivery operation for delivering a set dose, an electronic control unit, the electronic control unit being configured to control operation of the electronic system, the electronic system having a first state and a second state, wherein the electronic system has an increased electrical power consumption in the second state as compared to the first state, wherein the user interface member comprises an exterior operation surface which is arranged to be touched by the user for the dose operation, wherein the user interface member comprises a user proximity detection unit, wherein the user proximity detection unit is configured to generate an electrical signal when the user is close to the exterior operation surface or touches the exterior operation surface, wherein the user proximity detection unit comprises a movable member, wherein the movable member is arranged to be moved by the user away from an initial position relative to the exterior operation surface towards an operation position before the user reaches the exterior operation surface, wherein the user proximity detection unit further comprises an electrical signaling unit, wherein the user proximity detection unit is configured to provide the electrical signal when the movable member has been moved away from the initial position, e.g. when the movable member is in the operation position or during the movement away from the initial position towards the operation position, and wherein the electronic system is configured such that the electronic control unit switches the electronic system from the first state into the second state in response to the electrical signal.
DEVICE, SET AND METHOD FOR REMOVING A STERILE OBJECT FROM A FOIL BAG
A device (10) for removing a sterile object (12) from a foil bag (14) includes a needle unit (16) with a hollow needle (18) for piercing the foil bag (14), a gas connection (20) arranged on the needle unit (16) for introducing gas via the hollow needle (18) into the foil bag (14), a holding device (22) for holding the foil bag (14), a cutting device (24) for cutting open the foil bag (14), and a removal device (26) for removing the object (12) from the cut open foil bag (14). The holding device (22) has at least one holding unit (28), which is formed in a planar manner on the holding device (22) and is mounted movably, for contacting the foil bag (14).
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR PRIMING A FLUID LINE
Systems and methods for exhausting air from a flow pathway are provided. The systems can include a flow resistor having an input coupled to a fluid source and an outlet to output a fluid at an output flow rate, the flow resistor including an adjustable flow channel for modifying the output flow rate of the fluid flowing through the flow resistor; and a priming device having an elongated portion, the elongated portion being substantially rigid axially and configured for insertion through the outlet of the flow resistor to engage the flow resistor and adjust the output flow rate to allow air to be exhausted from the flow pathway through the flow resistor.
Systems, kits and methods for loading and delivering a small volume dose from a syringe
A kit is disclosed for accurately loading a small volume dose of a medication within a syringe and for delivering the small volume dose of the medication at a treatment site. The kit generally includes a loading and delivery system in accordance herewith, a syringe, and a medication. The loading and delivery system includes a syringe delivery ring and a syringe loading guide, which may be used for example, to administer a small volume dose of a medication at the end of an ocular surgery.
Medical device for deploying a catheter that can be operated with a single hand, and a method
A medical device is provided that can be held and operated with a single hand to cause a catheter to be placed at a selected location in a patient's body. The user's other hand is free to perform other tasks, such as operating an ultrasound probe, for example. The medical device may also include a valve that can be operated with the same hand that holds the medical device to open a port to cause a fluid, such as a nerve block agent, for example, to be injected into the patient's body at the selected location.
DEVICES AND METHODS FOR INSTALLATION AND REMOVAL OF A NEEDLE TIP OF A NEEDLE
The present disclosure provides medical devices, particularly medical grade needles with removable tips, as well as methods of needle tip installation and removal, and devices therefor. Needle tip installation and removal devices may include needle tip installation and removal tools and kits, including hand held and manipulated tools that facilitate the installation and removal of needle tips, particularly on vascular access port needles. Such installation and removal devices may provide more expedient hook up of the access port for the therapy. Also, the installation and removal of the needle tips may be conducted in a more sterile manner.
VERIFICATION OF DOSE DELIVERED BY AN INSULIN PEN
In some embodiments, an adjunct device for tracks time and/or dosage of a medicine. The device may include a connector for mounting the device to a deposable pen injector. The device may be configured to allow use of the native controls and injectors of the injector. For example the device may include a view port for viewing a dose indicator of the injector. The device may include one or more vibration sensors. A processor may be configured to differentiate increasing a dose, decreasing a dose and/or discharging the medicine based on the output of the sensors. Optionally a display of the device may be positioned for simultaneous viewing with the dosage indicator of the injector. For example a user may verify the accuracy of the adjunct device before performing a discharge.
Surgical shunt assembly tool
The present disclosure provides a surgical shunt assembly tool that provides a more efficacious grip on the catheter tubes and prevent the tip of the catheter from buckling while the catheter is pushed onto the tip of the valve during installation of shunts during CSF shunt surgery. The tool includes standard handles such as used in a shodded mosquito tool having a clamping jaw integrated into the distal end section of the handle. The distal jaw includes two forcep jaw sections each having a proximal end integrally formed with a distal end of a distal end arm section of one of the two handle arms, and a distal end section extending away from the distal end arm section. The distal end sections of the forcep jaw sections are cylindrically shaped such that when the forcep jaw is closed by bringing the two forcep jaw sections together, a cylinder is formed having a diameter substantially equal to a diameter of a catheter tube to be attached to a shunt valve tip. The proximal ends of the forcep jaw sections are oval shaped and have a size such that when the forcep jaw is closed bringing the two forcep jaw sections together, an oval shaped opening is formed having a size smaller than the diameter of the catheter tube such that the catheter tube is squeezed closed to provide a firm grip of the tool of the catheter tube.
APPARATUS FOR CUTTING A MATERIAL AND A METHOD FOR CUTTING A NEGATIVE PRESSURE WOUND THERAPY DRESSING
A method and device for accurately, rapidly and consistently cutting an opening in drape material for negative pressure wound therapy (NPWT) uses a cutting device that includes a cutting member that can extend from a bottom surface of the cutting device. A cover may fit over the bottom to protect the cutting member. The cutting member may be positioned to define a cut-out shape having dimensions designed for use with a NPWT system. An adhesive material may be formed on the bottom surface of the cutting device, inside of the cut-out shape defined by the cutting members. In use, the user presses the cutting tool onto the drape to cause the cutting member to cut into the drape and the adhesive to stick to the drape. When the user lifts the device, the drape, cut to the correct size and shape, is removed from the foam dressing covering the wound.
