METHODS OF PASSIVATING ADHESIVES

Methods of passivating an adhesive via printing an ink onto a release liner, and adhesive articles or products made by the same are provided. An ink pattern is printed onto a release liner to form a pattern of features. The features are at least partially embedded in an adhesive layer such that when the release liner is peeled from the adhesive layer, the passivation features remain with the layer of adhesive to form selected areas having adjusted adhesive functionality. Articles including the passivated adhesive on a release liner are also disclosed.

CURATIVE

A curative for epoxidized plant-based oils and epoxidized natural rubber is created from the reaction between a naturally occurring polyfunctional acid and an epoxidized plant-based oil is disclosed. The curative may be used to produce porosity-free castable resins and vulcanize rubber formulations based on epoxidized natural rubber. Materials made from disclosed materials may be advantageously used as leather substitutes.

Cellular structures with twelve-cornered cells

A cellular structure may include a plurality of cells. Each cell of the plurality of cells may have a twelve-cornered cross section. The twelve-cornered cross-section may include two sides each having a first cross-sectional length, and ten sides each having a second cross-sectional length that differs from the first cross-sectional length.

ETHYLENE-VINYL ALCOHOL COPOLYMER RESIN COMPOSITION, AND MULTILAYER STRUCTURE

A resin composition contains an ethylene-vinyl alcohol copolymer, wherein the ratio (Y/Z) of a lactone ring content (Y) to the sum (Z) of a carboxylic acid content (X) and the lactone ring content (Y) in terminal structures of the ethylene-vinyl alcohol copolymer is not less than 55 mol %, and at least one of a cinnamic acid component, a lubricant, a boron compound, and a conjugated polyene compound is present as a thermally stabilizing substance in a predetermined proportion based on the weight of the resin composition. Therefore, the resin composition is excellent in high-temperature thermal decomposition suppressing effect and thermal stability, and is free from odor emanation and coloration even if being processed at a higher temperature.

Composition and Films Comprising Polylactic Acid Polymer and Copolymer Comprising Long Chain Alkyl Moiety

Compositions and films are described comprising a polylactic (PLA) polymer and a copolymer comprising a first moiety comprising a C12-C30 alkyl group and a second moiety that is miscible in the composition. Suitable first moieties include a C12-C30 alkyl (meth)acrylate or a polyvinyl alcohol comprising pendent C12-C30 alkyl groups. Suitable second moieties include C1-C10 (meth)acrylic acid or ester thereof, vinyl acetate and ethylene vinyl acetate. The aforementioned composition may be used to form a release layer of an adhesive article such as a pressure sensitive adhesive tape. The films may be a monolithic film or a film layer of a multilayer film. The release layer may be disposed upon a substrate layer that may also comprise PLA. The films are produced by melt extrusion of the aforementioned composition and may be oriented.

MULTILAYER CONSTRAINED-LAYER DAMPING
20190283362 · 2019-09-19 ·

Provided herein is are multilayer damping laminates comprising alternating damping and constraining layers. The materials and configurations of the damping layers are selected such that the damping layers have a decreasing glass transition temperature profile beginning at the first damping layer, allowing the laminates to effectively dissipate vibrations over a wider range of operating temperatures and/or frequencies. Also provided are systems and methods using the multilayer damping laminates.
