CARGO DETECTION SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR DETECTING OVERHANGING CARGO ON A MOTOR VEHICLE

A cargo detection system for detecting overhanging cargo on a motor vehicle comprises a sensor system configured to provide cargo measurement data for cargo loaded onto the motor vehicle by measuring at least one of exterior dimensions of cargo protruding over an outer edge of the motor vehicle and an opening condition of a tailgate of the motor vehicle. The system further comprises a control device configured to assess, based on the cargo measurement data of the sensor system, whether cargo is overhanging from the motor vehicle and to calculate an updated vehicle length and/or vehicle width for the motor vehicle accounting for the overhanging cargo.

Integrated door release and present system

A system is used to control access into a vehicle having a vehicle body defining a vehicle interior, a vehicle exterior, and an access opening. The vehicle also has an access door for selectively covering and uncovering at least a portion of the access opening. The system includes a latch configured to selectively fasten the door to the vehicle body and release the door therefrom. The system also includes a cable configured to operate the latch and thereby release the door from the vehicle body. The system additionally includes a door presenter configured to shift the door away from the vehicle body. The system also includes a mechanism configured to sequentially actuate the cable and the door presenter. The system further includes an electric motor configured to power the mechanism such that the door is shifted away from the vehicle body by the door presenter after the door is released.

Autonomous control of vehicle cargo area doors

A vehicle cargo area door control system for a vehicle including at least one cargo area and at least one cargo area door. The control system includes one or more processors and a memory communicably coupled to the processors for storing a cargo area door control module. The door control module operates to, responsive to the generation or receipt of an instruction which will cause the vehicle to start moving, determine if all vehicle cargo area doors are closed. If at least one cargo area door is not closed, command(s) are generated to close the at least one cargo area door.

Hatch arrangement of a motor vehicle

A hatch arrangement for a motor vehicle including a hatch leaf pivotably coupled to a vehicle body being movable between an open hatch position and a closed hatch position, a hatch drive arrangement for moving the hatch leaf, a hatch lock arranged on the hatch leaf, the hatch lock comprising a hatch lock catch, and a cinching system configured to move the hatch lock catch from the secondary latch position to the primary latch position. The hatch arrangement includes, a force transfer arrangement for transferring a force exerted by the hatch drive arrangement to the hatch lock catch, and including a transfer element coupled to the hatch drive arrangement and a Bowden cable connecting the transfer element with the hatch lock catch, and in the closed hatch position of the hatch leaf the hatch arrangement is free from pulling forces between the transfer element and the vehicle body.

Polyolefin resin composition, molded article, and outer panel for a vehicle

A polyolefin resin composition, containing: a polyolefin resin; and cellulose microfibrils, in which a content of the cellulose microfibrils is 0.5 to 20 parts by mass, with respect to 100 parts by mass of an entire resin component in the polyolefin resin composition, a molded article and a back door for a vehicle.

Guide bumper for tailgate

Provided is a guide bumper for a tailgate, including a first guide member attached to one of a vehicle body and a tailgate, and a second guide member disposed on the opposite side of the first guide member, the first guide member including at least one outer body and at least one elastic core inserted into the outer body.

A vehicle hatch clearance determining system includes a plurality of cameras disposed at the vehicle and a control having a processor for processing image data captured by the cameras. During a parking event, and responsive to processing of captured image data, the system detects objects, gathers information pertaining to detected objects exterior the vehicle and generates an environmental model based at least in part on the gathered information. With the vehicle parked, the system determines location of the vehicle relative to at least one detected object of the environmental model and determines if the model includes an object in a region that would be swept by a hatch of the parked vehicle when the hatch is being opened or closed. Responsive to determination that the object is in the region that would be swept by the hatch, the system stops movement of the hatch to avoid impact with the object.

COMPOSITE LIFTGATE

A composite liftgate system with an inner panel construction having a strengthening channel structure. Structural composite reinforcements are bonded to the inner panel where additional strength is needed to meet predetermined performance requirements. Where the extra structure is needed, no steel or a minimum amounts of steel is used and the structural reinforcements are bonded in place using adhesive prior to application of additional fasteners.

Tailgate Arrangement for a Motor Vehicle and Method for Operating a Tailgate Arrangement

A tailgate arrangement is provided for a vehicle, with a tailgate having a rear window and with at least one body component to which the rear window is adjacent when the tailgate is closed and from which the rear window is spaced apart further when the tailgate is open than when the tailgate is closed. A capacitive sensor is provided for monitoring a gap between the rear window and the at least one body component for presence of an object in the gap. At least one electrode of the capacitive sensor is arranged on the rear window. A method is provided for operating the tailgate arrangement for a motor vehicle.

OVERMOLD BRACKET WITH OPEN MOUNTING SURFACE ON BRACKET

A liftgate (10) for a vehicle having at least one overmolding bracket (28) with at least one open mounting surface on the bracket for liftgate hardware attachments. In addition, overmolding the bracket (28) and maintaining at least one hole (26) for tether routing. The liftgate allows the overmolding of the bracket (28) and maintains a lower cost fastener joint that does not require extra components or special components such a compression limiters and rivet nuts or brackets that cannot be overmolded.
