Fuel system for a vehicle

A vehicle includes a prime mover and a fuel system. The fuel system includes a tank, a regulator, a first shutoff valve, and a second shutoff valve. The tank is configured to provide a supply flow of fuel. The regulator is controllable to provide a regulated flow of fuel to the prime mover by modulating the supply flow of fuel. The first shutoff valve is positioned to facilitate selectively disengaging the prime mover from the fuel system. The second shutoff valve is positioned to facilitate selectively blocking the supply flow of fuel provided by the tank.

A hybrid plug-in battery and hydrogen fuel engine vehicle with swappable modular hydrogen tanks and integrated with solar power generation system synergistically combines the advantages of electric vehicle, the solar powered electric vehicle, and the hydrogen fuel engine vehicle. This combination of battery electric vehicle and hydrogen fuel engine vehicle mitigates the issues of prolong charging time of battery electric vehicle and prohibitive high cost of fuel cell electric vehicle. This hybrid configuration of vehicle is able to take advantages of the electric vehicle charging station infrastructure and the hydrogen charging station infrastructure simultaneously. The introduction of the water electrolysis system into the new structure of the hybrid vehicle enables onboard hydrogen generation; has the advantage of conventional hybrid vehicle, but without using fossil fuel. The swappable hydrogen tanks comprise sensors and wireless communication electronic terminals to be shared by all vehicles.

A fuel supply valve for supplying fuel from a fuel tank to a fuel cell stack includes: a plunger having a hollow therein, a core part disposed on the plunger, and a block part disposed within the hollow to maintain airtightness between the core part and the plunger, and a space in which the airtightness of the hollow has been maintained by the plunger, the core part, and the block part is defined as a pressure chamber.

The second filling port is configured to fit a dispenser nozzle of a second dispensing type, the second dispensing type being different from the first dispensing type. An adapter controller is configured to communicate with a vehicle fueling system of the alternative fuel vehicle and a valve providing a fluid connection between the first filling port and the second filling port and is operated by the adapter controller to selectively open and close the fluid connection.

Refuse vehicle having tailgate-mounted fuel tanks

A refuse vehicle includes a chassis having a prime mover, a body assembly coupled to the chassis, a tailgate pivotally coupled to the body assembly, an energy storage device coupled to the tailgate and moveable therewith, at least one of a non-structural conduit, a non-structural raceway, and a non-structural channel configured to contain at least one of wiring and a hydraulic line, and an impact mitigation system including at least one frame member positioned to direct impact loads around the energy storage device. The prime mover is configured to be powered by the energy storage device. The impact mitigation system provides a protected region within which the energy storage device is disposed.

Vehicle fuel vapor recovery system

A compartment wall structure defines a fuel filler compartment that includes a tube receiving opening and a vent opening. A fuel receiving end of a fuel filler tube is located at the tube receiving opening of the fuel filler compartment. A fuel tank attachment end thereof is located outside the fuel filler compartment and is spaced apart from the compartment wall structure. An air vent structure is in fluid communication with the vent opening. The air vent structure defines a chamber opening connected via a vent line to a fuel vapor filter canister. Vapor from the fuel filler compartment is vented to the fuel vapor filter canister through the chamber opening. The air vent structure has a screen at the chamber opening to prevent entry of objects, such as, for example, insects and/or debris through the chamber opening.

Fuel storage system

A fuel storage vessel includes a valve operatively associated with the storage vessel, a conduit disposed within the vessel and in fluid communication with the valve for delivering a stream of pressurized fuel to the storage vessel and a detector adjacent the conduit for detecting a state of the pressurized fuel in the storage vessel. The detector is positioned outside of the stream of pressurized fuel.

The main fuel pipe connects the fuel tank and the body-side mounting portion. The elastic pipe is connected to the fuel cell stack at a first end of the elastic pipe and connected, via the securing mechanism, to the body-side mounting portion at a second end of the elastic pipe opposite to the first end such that the second end of the elastic pipe is disengaged from the body-side mounting portion when a load larger than a predetermined threshold load is applied to the securing mechanism.

The integrated fill system can further include a draw line on an opposite end of the container to maintain separate lines for filling and drawing compressed material into/from the container.
