AIRBAG DEVICE FOR VEHICLE
The present invention relates to an airbag device for a vehicle. The airbag device comprises: an airbag cushion which is formed in a shawl shape and deployed toward both sides of a passenger so as to wrap and restrain the entire upper body around both shoulders of the passenger when a vehicle collides; and an inflator for generating gas and supplying the gas to the airbag cushion in response to an impact detection signal when the vehicle collides. Accordingly, when a vehicle collides, the shawl-shaped airbag cushion installed on the back of a seat is inflated and deployed to restrain the both sides and front area of the upper body of a passenger around both shoulders of the passenger, thereby safely protecting the passenger.

A method for operating an airbag of an occupant protection device of a vehicle moveable in autonomous driving mode involves positioning the airbag in an active position depending on at least one trigger condition. The airbag is automatically positioned and/or aligned within a vehicle interior depending on a positioning of a vehicle seat assigned to the airbag.
Passenger seat air bag apparatus
There is provided a passenger seat air bag having a portion which is unfolded to a side toward a center side of a vehicle in which a pressure difference in the portion is suppressed. A passenger seat air bag includes a front unfolding portion which is unfolded in front of the passenger seat, and a side unfolding portion which is in communication with the front unfolding portion and which is unfolded to side, of the passenger seat, nearer to a center of the vehicle. A horizontal tether is provided in the side unfolding portion in an arrangement which is approximately horizontal during unfolding. When unfolding gas is injected from the front to the air bag, because the horizontal tether does not block flow of the unfolding gas, pressure us the side unfolding portion is made uniform.
Passenger protection apparatus
A passenger protection apparatus for a vehicle includes an inflator and an airbag body. The inflator is configured to generate gas upon receiving a predetermined actuating signal. The airbag body is folded and configured to deploy by supplying the gas from the inflator to the airbag body. The airbag body includes a predetermined area on which adhesive is applied. An adhesive force of the adhesive is exerted by heat of the gas from the inflator during deployment of the airbag body, so that the predetermined area adheres to an adherend at a desired position.
Passenger protection apparatus
A passenger protection apparatus includes an inflator and an airbag body. The inflator is configured to generate gas upon receiving a predetermined actuating signal. The airbag body is folded and configured to deploy by supplying the gas from the inflator to the airbag body. The airbag body includes an predetermined area on which adhesive is applied. The predetermined area adheres to an adherend when the airbag body is deployed. When the airbag body is not deployed, the airbag body is stored in a deflated and bound state, and a surface facing the predetermined area when the airbag body is stored is a peel-off surface on which an adhesive force of the adhesive is lost.
VEHICULAR SEAT CUSHION AIRBAG
A vehicular seat cushion airbag is disclosed. The seat cushion airbag includes a first cushion, which is mounted on a seat cushion of a vehicle so as to be expanded at the rear portion of a passenger's thigh, and a second cushion, which extends from the first cushion in an upward direction of a bolster portion of the seat cushion so as to be expanded toward the lateral side surface of the passenger's thigh, wherein the first cushion is expanded at the rear portion of the passenger's thigh so as to prevent forward movement of the passenger's pelvis, and the second cushion is expanded toward the lateral side surface of the passenger's thigh so as to prevent outward spreading of the passenger's legs.
VEHICLE PEDAL ARRANGEMENT
A vehicle pedal arrangement according to one embodiment includes a support, a rotating shaft, a pedal that is pivotable with respect to the rotating shaft, a retention member and actuating means. The pedal includes a retaining housing and an opening, such that under normal operating conditions the rotating shaft is arranged in the opening and the retention member is at least partially housed in the retaining housing supported against the rotating shaft, retaining the rotating shaft in the opening. In the event of a head-on collision, the actuating means moves the retention member such that the pedal is no longer retained against the rotating shaft.
VEHICLE SAFETY SYSTEM AND METHOD IMPLEMENTING WEIGHTED ACTIVE-PASSIVE CRASH MODE CLASSIFICATION
A vehicle safety system implements a method for helping to protect a vehicle occupant in the event of a frontal collision. The method includes determining a passive safety crash mode classification in response to crash signals received in response to the occurrence of a crash event. The method also includes determining an active safety crash mode classification in response to active safety signals received prior to the occurrence of the crash event. The method also includes determining an active safety confidence factor for the active safety crash mode classification. The method also includes determining the weighted crash mode classification as being the active crash mode classification in response to the active safety confidence factor exceeding a predetermined confidence value. The method further includes determining the weighted crash mode classification as being the passive crash mode classification in response to the active safety confidence factor not exceeding the predetermined confidence value.
OCCUPANT PROTECTION SYSTEM
An occupant protection system has a component in question reduced in size and cost. The occupant protection system includes: a rollover airbag device provided in a vehicle interior; a battery configured to supply power to the rollover airbag device; a controller configured to determine a rollover of a vehicle and, if a rollover of the vehicle is determined, activate the rollover airbag device using power supplied from the battery; and a backup power source configured to charge power to be used if the battery fails. The controller determines a collision of the vehicle and examines the battery for any failure and, if a collision of the vehicle is determined and the battery is examined to have a failure, activates the rollover airbag device using the power charged in the backup power source.
FRONTAL AIRBAG UNIT AND MOTOR VEHICLE
A frontal airbag unit adapted for being mounted above the person to be protected is described. It comprises an inflator (24) and an airbag consisting of a first outer skin (10) enclosing a filling and support chamber (20) and a second outer skin (30) enclosing a protection chamber (40). In order simplify the production process and in order to provide a good support for the deployed second outer skin (30) the first outer skin (10) is comprised of a first layer (11) and a second layer (12) being connected to one another by means of a first peripheral connection such that the filling and support chamber (20) is relatively flat.
