Mobility device securement system with winch apparatus
11660238 · 2023-05-30 · ·

Provided herein is a electronically-controlled wheelchair securement system with a winch apparatus that is adapted for pulling and steering a mobility device (e.g., wheelchair, scooter, stretcher, etc.) up and down the ramp of a rear-entry wheelchair accessible vehicle and for providing securement for the mobility device during transport. The system includes two motorized front tie-down units adapted to be positioned in the vehicle at the front of the wheelchair securement area. The front tie-down units have extendable/retractable restraints adapted to connect to the front corners of the mobility device frame. By varying the motor speed between the two front tie-down units, the mobility device can be steered up the ramp. For example, when pulling the mobility device up the ramp, the mobility device can be directed to the left by increasing the speed of the right tie-down unit, slowing the speed of the left tie-down unit, or both. Similarly, the mobility device can be directed to the right by increasing the speed of the left tie-down unit, slowing the speed of the right tie-down unit, or both. Similar adjustments can be made to the speeds of the motors when the mobility device is being directed down the ramp.

Patient Transport Apparatus Having Caster Assembly Biasing Mechanisms

A patient transport apparatus including a support structure movable between a chair configuration for traversing floor surfaces and a stowed configuration for storage. A seat section is pivotably coupled to the support structure. A caster assembly includes a pin coupled to the support structure and defining a swivel axis, a caster frame arranged to pivot about the swivel axis between a plurality of caster orientations, a wheel coupled to the caster frame and arranged for engagement with the floor in the chair configuration, and biasing mechanism interposed between the caster frame and the pin. The biasing mechanism urges the caster frame toward a stowed aster orientation in response to disengagement between the wheel and floor surfaces occurring as the support structure moves from the chair configuration to the stowed configuration.

SPEED REDUCER AND ACTUATOR
20170370445 · 2017-12-28 ·

A speed reducer includes a sun gear, planetary gears, a fixed part, an output part, a first bearing, and a second bearing. The sun gear rotates relative to the fixed part at a first rotation speed. The planetary gears are disposed around the sun gear to engage with the sun gear. The output part includes an annular internal gear engaging with the planetary gears. The output part rotates relative to the fixed part at a second rotation speed lower than the first rotation speed. The first bearing is interposed between the fixed part and the output part at a position closer to an input side with respect to the planetary gears. The second bearing is interposed between the fixed part and the output part at a position closer to an output side with respect to the planetary gears. The second bearing is smaller in radial size than the first bearing.

Mobility device having walking wheel assembly for moving an object across non-planar areas
09844980 · 2017-12-19 ·

A mobility device for moving an object across a surface having a non-planar obstruction to allow movement of the object over the obstruction. The mobility device has a walking wheel assembly and an attachment mechanism. The walking wheel assembly has at least two wheels and an offset camshaft. The offset camshaft has a lobe associated with each wheel. The lobes are in a non-linear relationship such that one wheel is a leading wheel and one wheel is a trailing wheel. The offset camshaft allows the leading and trailing wheels to pivot upward and downward independent of each other. The attachment mechanism attaches the walking wheel assembly to the object. The mobility device can include a deflector assembly having a pair of deflector arms that are pivotally connected to a cam-axle which is attached to the offset camshaft to help guide the mobility device over non-planar areas.

Mobility device

A powered balancing mobility device that can provide the user the ability to safely navigate expected environments of daily living including the ability to maneuver in confined spaces and to climb curbs, stairs, and other obstacles, and to travel safely and comfortably in vehicles. The mobility device can provide elevated, balanced travel.
